I'm not sure how far back the person's talking about in their comment because I can sometimes see that in videos from recent years, but even so, I have SO much respect for people who can continue to make a living turning it out like this... 2023 is 35 years since the OG 4 auditioned and 20 years since Rhona joined. All 5 will forever be goddesses to me, even if they perform on chairs (which Cindy had to on a broken foot last year with her bedazzled boot! lol)

The melodic harmonies that make En Vogue unique and rich, is missing Maxine Jones’ mezzo-soprano, Maxine carried a lot of the low harmonies in this classic group and Dawn Robinson’s beautiful lyric soprano...the sound/blend those four women project cannot be reproduced! I miss them 😢. This performance was well done. En Vogue is timeless, I hope to see the reunion of the original voices before too long.

I like Rhonas voice and clearly they wanted a vocalist that had a deep rich tone similair to Max but Max is just in another league, its just not quite the same. I miss Dawns voice with En vogue aswell, I appreciated her perfect pitch and control and loved the alternative edge and sexiness she brought to the group

Unfortunately that’s the style now. Lip-syncing is so ubiquitous now (even those singers who supposedly still sing live, who actually just use realistically imperfect vocal takes) that people no longer know what actual live singing sounds like. If you look on KZbin at older performances where people are singing completely live- talented singers!- you’ll see people like “Wow they really can’t sing live” so basically now everyone has to do it because the standard has become so canned, so EQ’d and balanced and unreasonably perfect
