Mudryk was a complete gamble from the Ukrainian league. Nico was one of the best players at the Euros. The difference in level is clear. I don’t think we’ll get him though We’re currently in the conference league and he clearly wanted Barca. We can’t sign elite players this season but there’s still plenty to be optimistic about.

George, Given the way that FFP and PSR has turned 'amortisation' into the latest football buzz word it would be helpful if you got a full grasp on it so that you can better inform people. Amortisation is an accounting term. It relates to how income or expenditure is reported in accounts, NOT to how they are paid or received. Regardless of whether a transfer fee is paid in a single lump sum, or in installments, it can, and almost certainly will, be amortised. The issue with Bilbao wanting the Williams fee paid in full upfront is NOT an amortisation issue. It is a cashflow issue. It's a question of whether a club has the ability to pay that fee in one go. Many of us pay for a house using a mortgage which we repay month by month over a number of years, but few of us could afford to pay for it by a straight forward bank transfer. Any club with the means to pay the fee in full therefore has an advantage BUT THEY WILL STILL amortise that fee.

Also saw very similar comments when we were linked to Nico a couple of days after, saying he doesn’t deserve those wages and we should target other players. One name I saw mentioned various times was Summerville, saying he was a better and cheaper option than Nico. Most of them wanted us to stick to our salary cap but I see the narrative has changed in the last couple of days lol

I don't see the point of signing Williams. Yes, he's a very good left winger, but we have enough attacking players, we probably cannot offload Mudryk and Sterling anyway, and we need somewhere to stick Estevao, Paez, and possibly Tyrique. That's not being helped any by signing a ridiculously expensive Williams on crazy wages and basically dropping a concrete barrier in the way of that trio's development. Next question, does adding Williams improve Cole Palmer? Or would you sacrifice him as well because something else looks shiny in the transfer market?
