Even though Malaysia and Ireland are sharing some sorts of quite similar heritages due to British colonisation, however Ireland never celebrate its independence from British (United Kingdom) in 6 December 1921 after Anglo-Irish Treaty, instead they celebrate Paddy's Day (St Patrick Day) as the biggest Irish national celebration to celebrate Irish cultures on 17th March every year. I ever been once to witness Paddy's Day in Dublin years a go while I was living in the UK. The next celebration here in Malaysia will be Malaysia Day on 16th September, where the establishment Federation of Malaysia in 1963, by unification of Malaya (Peninsular of Malaysia) with Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo and Singapore (Singapore separated in 1965). Every country celebrate different way their Independence Day or National Day. Hope both your guys did enjoy it, despite the heat and humidity 😁

FYI, the date of 31st August Malaysia Independent Day was suggested by the great grandfather of Malaysia fifth Prime Minister (Abdullah Bin Badawi Bin Sheikh Abdullah Fahim).., the greatest Muslim Astronomer. If this date (31st August 1957) failed to be mitigate by our first Prime Minister to get Malaysia to be independent from Britain, the next good date will only fall on 31/8/1963. Why this date very significant? = couple of reasons but the for a young Malaysian they only wanted this day to be celebrated. Therefore, after a meticulous Astrologist study made, Sheikh Abdullah Fahim found 31st August is the good day where on this day, the weather was very good and no rain will pour in Malaysia. Hence, for the past 66 years we celebrating "Merdeka Day" in a good weather.

Unfortunately, some less educated Indonesians, to this date, still believe that the formation of Malaysia (Malaya + Sabah & Sarawak in the northern Borneo) was a neo-colonialist agenda initiated by USA & Great Britain. The 1st. Indon Pres. Sukarno was very mad when 2 northern Borneo regions joining Malaysia out of the internationally recognized referendum organized by the United Nations.
