Kill Bill Volume 2 (2003) Movie Reaction, Review, and Commentary for JL. Many moments of pure disgust and admiration for Bill's level of petty and the revelation there are actually two GOATS (and the @inintsh!t" champion of all the times) in this movie were had.

I always loved how it was Bud that came the closest to killing Beatrix in spite of how pitiful the movie portrayed him to be. There was a whole lot more to Bud than he was letting on. I think that he lied about the sword just to spite Bill. Honestly, he seemed like he wanted to die.

Budd’s sword was a present from Bill, so he said that he pawned it just to hurt Bill’s feelings, but we see that he did keep the sword secretly. Somehow, it’s actually kind of sweet. Even with Budd saying that they all deserve to die, he still puts Beatrix in the ground for breaking Bill’s heart. And he still has the sword from Bill that says he loves him. Goes to show how different Bea and Elle were from each other. When Bea was with Bill, we can see it was a very loving relationship, if twisted and between two killers. Bea was shocked Bill could hurt her, and Bill even kept their baby safw. But when Elle is with Bill, she not only kills his brother but then assumes credit for defeating Beatrix. She calls Budd a bushwhacker for using a gun but she also sneak attacks people. She’s the snakiest of all the Vipers, but she’s also the only one named after a non-venomous snake to show she lacks honor, integrity, and thus, she lacks real power.

Another fun fact about Beatrix’s nick name being black mumba is that its the most dangerous vipers known to man. When Ell read out the facts about the black Mumba, it was not only foreshadowing but also pure storytelling. When she left the camper, the black mumba feared her. As should everyone else. As she is the deadliest.

I mean a black mamba is an elapid which are the groups that includes cobras as they have short fixed fangs whereas vipers have foldable fangs. Also the inland taipan blows any snake out the water dose for dose
@Alan_CFA
@Alan_CFA 11 ай бұрын
@@goldendoomslayer6301 yes, the inland taipan has more lethality dose-for-dose, but the black mamba is the world’s most dangerous snake. It’s aggressive and never has “dry bites” (those with no venom). The onset of symptoms is the fastest of any snake and left untreated, it has a 100% mortality rate. I’m an expert - I read that on the font of all knowledge, Wikipedia, a few minutes ago😁

A few things for you - the guy who played Pei Mei is the actor Gordon Lui who is a kung fu movie legend. He is known for one of most famous classic Shaolin movies - the 36th Chamber, and funny enough also was in one of the first movies with Pei Mei in the movie Executioners from Shaolin. Another neat fact - the guy Senior Esteban in this movie and the sheriff from the first movie, you know the church scene where they first find the bride - is the same actor.

I felt sympathy for Budd. I mean. He was a ruthless bastard but it's obvious that he feels remorse. He says they deserved death, and he abandoned his life as a killer. Now he has a job he hates with people he hates, but he does it to punish himself. He chose to suffer for some reason. Rejected Bill's help too. However, talking with Bill about Beatrix he seemed to change his mind. After all, Beatrix was also a killer and she probably did the same kind of work that is the reason why Budd punishes himself. So she deserves punishment too. In fact, he probably knows that she killed a mother, the black woman at the start of the previous movie, in front of her child. So, he decides to punish Beatrix and that may work as some kind of redemption in his mind, as something good for the world. So he decides to get some money and get out, to live again. But, just like Pai Mei and Bill, he discovers too late that he was trusting in the wrong person. I really like Budd and I am always sorry that he has to die without truly fighting again. But oh well. He probably would have preferred it that way.

"And I rampaged. And I got bloody satisfaction. I've killed a hell of a lot of people to get to this point, but I have only one more. The last one. The one I'm driving to right now. The only one left. And when I arrive at my destination, I am gonna KILL BILL." Fun Fact: The club owner hated Budd's hat, because writer and director Quentin Tarantino didn't like it when Michael Madsen appeared on the set wearing it. He tried to talk Michael out of it, but that didn't help. So Quentin got back with a little change in the script the next day, and Michael Madsen had to follow it. Lost Translation Fact: Quentin Tarantino originally intended to only have Pai Mei's lips speaking Cantonese, while his voice would be in English, imitating a bad dub job. Tarantino was going to provide the voice himself. In the end, Tarantino abandoned this idea, and Pai Mei (Chia-Hui Liu) speaks in his own voice. Historical Fact: Pai Mei is based on Pak Mei, the originator of the "White Eyebrow" kung fu technique. According to legend, Pak Mei was one of the few Masters left following the decimation of the Buddhist temples. He later sold out other Masters to save his team and himself during an attack that they had mounted that subsequently went wrong. For this reason, Pak Mei Kung Fu has always been known as the "forbidden technique" and Pak Mei has been a villainous figure in Chinese folklore and film, for hundreds of years.

One of Michael Madsen's best roles, if not THE best with respect to screentime. Totally disgusted with himself and the life he once led, it's as if Budd is doing penance by now accepting the worst existence he can conjure. Old habits do die hard, however, and he's not above defending his own life from someone he in a way regards to be equally as contemptible as himself. And then there is the matter of "avenging" his brother, as well as falling for the temptation of taking the low road and getting out of his piss-poor circumstances. Simply marvelous characterization, shown and told by surprisingly simple and unpretentious means.

In that way Black Mamba (Beatrix aka The Bride) would have killed Elle. I would love to have seen it crawl into one of her eye sockets, maybe find its way to the brain, and strike it a couple times. But what I always loved about about that scene, what I found poetic, was at the end the black mamba doesn't strike at Black Mamba. Almost like it respects her, or recognizes her as one of its own.

What makes this all the more ironic is that despite Bride being basically everything that Pai Mei hated about humans and more, he still saw what she could become and that's why he slowly not only warmed up to her but also taught her his infamous move. Shows that despite Pai Mei's negative traits, he's still a wise teacher in a way. Plus, he's the reason why the Bride was able to fight so well and as long as she had. Its all because of Pai Mei's teachings. If that's not OP, I don't know what is!

You made a great point about unnecessary secret of her name! Years later, no memory of her name, just "The Bride." I honestly think if Quentin Tarantino had people say her name in Vol. 1 when she blew us all away with her mad skills, we would all know her name like we do Ripley or Sarah Connor. Sad.

@JL The show was called Kung Fu Bruce Lee wrote the show as a vehicle for himself and for his love of the Martial Arts.... he was told by a even more racist Hollywood heads that he was "too Asian" to be a star of a TV show so Carradine (Bill) stepped in the role after he called Bruce out of respect and was told to take the role. It was in the 70's

I know Quentin has stated that he's not going to do a Vol. 3, but I'm still hoping he changes his mind. He's already outlined the premise, and it sounds SO juicy!: Nicky (Vivica Fox's daughter) all grown up seeking revenge for her mother's death will be trained by the eyeless Elle Driver (Daryll Hannah) and the one-armed Sophie (Julie Dreyfuss) who inherit all of Bill's wealth.
