If you take into account the cost of the mod and upscaler, the price of the EON is less outlandish. It's well worth it to not have to tamper with hardware that's in finite supply. Would recommend.

I'm sure they will eventually... BUT.. It's highly unlikely you'll get games with extra licensing fees. Nintendo would have to charge hundreds for it if they wanted to include games such as GoldenEye 007. Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Beetle Adventure Racing, etc. And remember, they don't even own the rights to most of the big Rare titles (Killer Instinct Gold, Blast Corps, Perfect Dark, Banjo 1 & 2, Jet Force Gemini, GoldenEye 007 was also developed by them. They also wouldn't likely include any M rated games, so no Conker's Bad Fur Day, even if Rare let them include it. Or Resident Evil 2. So if you're an N64 fan you'd still want an original system, or at least a different emulation alternative.

For me, this adaptor seems pointless

I cant recommend this product at $150 but the advantages it offers over a cheap av to hdmi scaler is that it is using svideo instead of composite so 2d elements are sharper and there is less noise around edges. It also doesnt require extra cables and external power. And it is lag free because it linedoubles to 480p instead of upscaling to 720p or 1080p, which adds input lag.

You can get an N64 much cheaper than that. Just go on Facebook marketplace. As for the cost. $150 isn’t necessarily outlandish if you’re a collector and enthusiast who is willing to spend a little money to maximize the performance of your retro console. The issue lies in the performance you get for the price. You can get a N64 RGB modded for less than that. That’s going to have a better output. Or you can get other similar products with comparable performance to this for one third the price. I mean this is getting up there with products like the Framemeister that do a lot more. I see a price drop in the near future as they try to move product.
