Years ago I gave my mom a mini for christmas... I sculpted a sloth (her favorite animal) out of greenstuff and then built a tree out of wire and sculpted the whole thing into a 60mm base, based it with tiny paper plants painted it. I think she liked it...She was a receptionist for years (retired now) and I remember seeing it on her desk once when I went to pick her up from work. I was kinda surprised to see it displayed so prominently on her desk. She had even bought a display box for it because apparently people kept touching it. I have never given anyone else a mini as a gift because I didn't think it would go over well BUT now that you have jogged this memory I might try it again. This "models and memories" show might be about nothing but it's kinda fun how it has evoked my own memories about minis at times. Thanks!

Regarding miniatures as gift: I think there are circumstances where it's okay. I think if its painted and you put somehow into a scenery it could be a nice gift. So you can give a historical interested person maybe a roman soldier fighting the germans on a field - in this case this might be a appropriate present.

Re: giving minis as gifts. I'd say it takes thought and effort to get someone the right miniature as a gift. In your example of giving a friend who plays a painted HQ, that means you took the time to think of what works with their army, and what they are missing. For a non-gamer, like my mom, I just would have to consider what she likes. She absolutely loves bears, so if I find a bear miniature or if I 3D print one out and paint it for her, she'd love it (she already has a collection of bear statues). So you CAN give miniatures as gifts to non-gamers, you just need to consider if its good for the receiver or not. If they wouldn't like any miniature, then do something else obv.

"Hate leads to Suffering" is basically saying hate of any kind will make others suffer. Be it you suffering for your hateful actions or others suffering because of you. I think it totally makes sense, that little green guy is saying project love and positivity and you will receive it in kind and make the world a more loving place. I'd love to see AOS content! Been lurking here for a bit but gotta say your enthusiasm and optimism has been a breath of fresh air for me and in part what's revitalized my hobby, so thanks! As for giving minis as gifts, I think it varies. I've gifted a few models to non gamers and most are impressed by the details and artistry. I literally did what you said in your video and I gifted a painted model to my mom for Christmas one year. It was a husky mini on a scenic base painted like our beloved family dog that had passed away the year before. She loved it and even cried.

I really like the way miniature games flow with the back and forth rounds. It feels much more natural and immersive, I feel it’s more balanced since it lets you play with your minis before they get blasted off the table, and they make you stay engaged for in the game due to the more reactive nature of the matches. I like 40k and all, but sometimes it feels like you’re not doing much for long periods of time while you wait for the opponent to finish their turn.

The Yoda quote is about human psychology. Fear is a primal emotion that we have a physiological reaction to. One of the most common reactions to fear is to become angry and aggressive. Anger is an emotion that motivates us to action and informs our attitudes. If we're angry long enough, it can fester into a hatred. Hate is an attitude that informs our perceptions. People who are hateful learn to accept and even cause the suffering of others. Suffering is a state of pain or distress that we all experience. Hateful people cause a lot of suffering by inflicting harm on people in an attempt to deal with their underlying fear. These all connect together because Yoda was explaining how authoritarianism works. Fear makes people into authoritarians. The quote is just a rough description of how that mindset develops. The reason he's saying it in relation to Anakin is to say that he doesn't believe Anakin can learn to control his own fear and so shouldn't be taught how to be a laser sword wielding space wizard with the power to murder anyone and change the course of the entire galaxy. Because, yannow, he might go off and become a space nazi. Like he did. Yoda is right about authoritarianism and right about Anakin, but is ultimately wrong about how to handle it. Luke proves Yoda wrong by getting through to Anakin, giving Anakin the love and respect he needed to take control of his fear and kill the Emperor.

Love AOS’ lore, different races and factions. The fact that there are More Gods with lore and personality than 40k’s gods. I mean we haven’t heard anything about Ynnead in a while or that newly found Tau god is all but silent and supposedly there’s a couple minor chaos gods in 40k but there just Easter eggs/names of people who helped make 40k early on in development so that’s a dead end. I just enjoy AOS’ more creativity directions than 40k’s, since AOS is a new universe it isn’t held down by decades of lore like 40k keeping it in this stagnant place. To GW defense they have been moving 40k’s story w/Guilliman, fall of cadia and primaris but not without people voicing concerns about how GW is taking the story or how they hate how they’re changing things.

Kharadron Overlords are a fun army, coincidentally I also started my foray into AoS with them and Stormcast, although I ended up ditching the stormcast when I couldn't settle on a paint scheme for them that I liked. KO on the other hand I found much easier, I also used the boats to experiment with coloured metallics and really pushing my basing since the frigate and ironclad especially give you a lot of space to work with. Just be aware with the boats that they will probably take you a lot of time, I think my ironclad took me several weeks and a lot of sub assemblies to get painted. They do have a great model line though, I just wish they had a bit more variety since they've only recieved one additional model since their initial release, and that's been a single hero, I'd really like them to have a new skyvessel or another dedicated melee unit.

AoS was a reworking of Warhammer Fantasy. Since then we've seen the Fantasy team do a great job at making better models and more playable games with AoS, Warcry, and Underworlds. 40K could really use the same treatment, as it's fallen from grace, and could really use a reworking and better models, and needs a rule reworking badly.

AoS>>>>>40k rules based in my opinion cause the mechanics. About BG and models it's simply choosing your tastes, I like both so no problem about it. AOS is now 6 yo so it's not anymore so young. It has seen 3 edition, while 40k had the same in the same amount of time. 40k still had 9 edition since the beginning, it's standing on dated approaches, a rewamp of the rules would dare to rewrite quite heavily and mean rewrite a lot of armies and ways of the miniatures. I think some things should be redone in 40k, not necessarily similar to AoS. AoS till now it's my favourite rules based, hoping it doesn't corrupt along the time. Anyway the real problem is about codex and Battletome more than about the core rulebook. The time will reveal what shall happen
