Learning how to drive a tuktuk in Sri Lanka was definitely a lot harder than we thought it would be, but it was the beginning of an epic 30-day adventure, filled with ups and downs and some of our favorite travel moments ever!
We hope you enjoy this travel series as much as we did. I know it doesn't look like we enjoyed it much in this video, but we promise you guys are in for an epic 30-day adventure. This one was really a complete cultural immersion with the tuktuk lol (you'll see!) 😂 - and even though we do show food in a few of the Sri Lanka videos, we didn't do a proper food tour. We tried on our last day in Colombo at the end of our trip, but it was a holiday and a lot of restaurants were not open 🙈 (but we did film a food tour in Amsterdam, we'll film one here in KC and another one in Florida for Venezuelan food!)

thanks! I think I'm about 1,93m (6 ft 4 in) - I was pretty comfortable in the front and back of the tuktuk... the only thing is that you do have to lean forward a bit while driving to see the entire road ahead. some of the view would be blocked by the roof if I sat up completely straight. Hope that makes sense 😎

Question… What did you do for travel insurance that would cover you, thinking mainly of medical expenses should an accident happen, when touring in the tuk tuk?

How tall are you by the way? I want to do this but 6'5' 😂

I'm about 6'4'' - I was thinking it would be way worse, but it's totally doable! I had several long days behind the 'wheel' and wasn't uncomfortable. What I found less ideal than the leg room was that if you sit totally upright your view gets cut a bit. The windshield (tuktuk) isn't tall enough... but you should go for it! I loved driving that thing 🙌

no, but you do need a local tuktuk license. the company we hired from (tuktukrental.com) got us the official tuktuk license. all we had to do was send photos of our standard state-issued drivers license...
