I like how you explained that some people feel offended and the need to defend themselves when we're not even attacking them but only challenging their beliefs 👏

Every financial advisor I have ever heard always begins by saying you need an emergency fund and then you should get out of debt before you should invest in anything. Most see a mortgage and student loans as worthwhile or reasonable reasons to go into debt, but student loans should be paid off as soon as possible, and home mortgages should be paid off before retirement. Finding a way to get out of a mortgage by building a tiny house or working one’s way through college to avoid a student loan would really put someone ahead of the game financially.

People defending debt are more than likely those who are drowning in it. Smh...

Another interesting podcast. The fact that just saying that doesn't really fit good feedback is very true. Hearing something you can grow from is far more beneficial. Interesting that you got so much criticism on the podcast about debt. To be honest, thanks to you guys, I made a budget, paid off three big chunks of debt, and I'm on my way to pay off the last one. Thanks for sharing your conversations. I like listening to them since they make me think about the different topics, and often in a different way. It's enlightening.

I came across your book Everything that Remains and it was so helpful. It has made me think more of the stuff I accumulate and it has helped me let go. At this time I have 15 empty totes and will let go of more. I also read a book by Tim Kasser, The High Price of Materialism, it is a psychological look at materialism. It's not a thick book but it took me a few days to read it cause it really made me look at myself and to admit some of those things I did, it was an eye opener. When it comes to criticism I take what I like and leave the rest. I enjoy your podcasts and looking forward to reading your other books.

Haha, with english as my second language I confused "debt" with "death" (not very different) almost the whole podcast.

I love that you guys have no advertisements. Here 3:48 , an anotation for the people that want to minimize the song intro, intro of the video content, Tedx talk promotion and what is it about, and documentary promotion.

My husband criticizes me every day; usually for minimalism and throwing things away. I'm used to it by now.

Mortgage originates from the French term of debt until death.

Ryan, You did not study your bible deeply enough to understand the witness faith. I am sorry you are so against it. I have been baptized since 1987 as a teen. I do not feel brain washed, I feel taught. I enjoy your podcasts. No judgement from me. Take care.

How does one feel "brain washed". If it has happened you wouldnt be aware and would accept what you perceive as truth
