Ep 10 | FROM THE JAWS OF DEFEAT - Let's Play XCOM 2: War of the Chosen

Detected by a patrolling UFO, the Avenger is directly engaged and hit by some kind of electromagnetic pulse. Knocked out of the sky, and unable to activate her propulsion systems, the ship is a sitting duck for dozens of incoming Advent transports. Our only hope is to disable an alien disruptor that's keeping the ship grounded.

The once a mission extra action for Skirmishers is... not great, sadly. You generally want to never got shot at ever (alpha strikes all the way), so you will probably go like a dozen missions and never see it used. The ability to use a grenade/item without ending turn + tactical rigging (+1 item carried) is a great combo however. Grapple somewhere (Free), throw a grenade (remove cover or stun or freeze or whatever) from your new position, then shoot (some kind of ammo in the other slot). Also, Ionic ripjacks are insanely good. 100% chance to stun on hit. Abuse the heck out of Justice and Wrath to take enemies out of the fight if you can't kill them. I never replaced them with the Tier 3 ones. ===== Private Journal, Squaddie "Padfoot" Evans April 27th, 2035 Those bastards actually shot us down. I fell out of my goddamn bunk when the Avenger fell out of the sky, landed on my ass, and I'm pretty sure you could hear me scream over the alarms all the way over in Command. I heard Bradford come and pull Zhang out of his bed and slap a mag rifle in his hands. I think he looked at me, but I was too busy curled up and trying not to cry. By the time I could get up, the main lights came back on. They threw rookies out there into the meatgrinder, and I'm amazed they all made it back. From what I could hear, ADVENT even threw the kitchen sink at us. That 'Storm' guy was shredding troops and MECs with those crazy psi-blades. Apparently he sounds a little crazy, though. They're doing their best to kill us off, and we're turning the tide. New weapons to match theirs, and experienced troops with steel in their spines. This was probably their best shot to take us out, and we're only going to get better from here on out. So now they're going after our support. A Haven's under attack, and I bet anything that crazy bitch with the sword is gonna be there, too.

Really loving these personal logs from Padfoot. Gonna have to give him a little more deployment time once his wounds are healed up. Yeah, as I edited this episode I saw myself pick that ability and went "Ehhh, that's not actually that good." Live and learn. This is my first time through WotC and I'm running blind with the new expansion content, so mistakes in builds will be made.
