Ep. 11 - Golf/Corrado G60 brake upgrade & Tech-53 22mm master cylinder install | Cali MK1 Part 11

Out with the old crusty stock brakes and in with the new fresh Golf/Corrado G60 brake discs/rotors, calipers, caliper carriers, adapters, pads, and stainless lines! This is a pretty comprehensive install video of how to upgrade a stock MK1 Rabbit/Golf to MK2 Golf G60 or Corrado G60 brakes using caliper adapters for the MK1 hubs... pretty neat!
I had noticed that the RF wheel bearing had play in it so I ordered a new, refurbished complete hub from Parts Place Inc and swapped that out while I was in there. Unfortunately, the RR bleed nipple had been snapped off at some point leaving me no way to bleed that corner of the car. I have a new rear wheel cylinder on order and will get that installed and the brakes bled as soon as possible!

Man, I wish I would’ve watched this sooner. I’ve got a set of four 3mm H&R 4x100 spacers that I only used to mock up and test fit some wheels sitting on a shelf that I could’ve sent you. Good progress though, keep the videos coming 👍🏻

Those are G54 not G60. I'm waiting for the next video.

Actually, calipers are Girling 54. Wich came factory on G60 Corrado and so are the 280mm 4x100 rotors. That's why most people refer to this brake kit as G60.

Piecing this kit together took a little while. Cross checking part numbers and sourcing parts. The calipers I ordered were labeled for an Audi 100, which I believed shared the same calipers as the G60. So that’s what I ordered! 🤷‍♂️ Everything bolted together fine, just need to repair a brake line a bleed the brakes!
