Episode 13 for Wolfsgart 13 - Did I hit my deadline and make it to the show? | Cali MK1 Part 13

What a crazy week it's been! And, if you've already started watching the video, spoiler alert; I did make it to part of the show! Late nights and many attempts to start the car and it finally ran! It wasn't without difficulty though. The brakes seemed to plague me with a burst brake line, air in the master cylinder, and a seized brake proportioning valve on the rear beam. Getting the car to fire up also proved difficult with bypassing some of the wiring, and the starter motor not engaging. Once I had these both dialed in, it was off to the BagRiders Block Party! Unfortunately, on the way home, the coolant hose adapter I had to jerry rig for the heater core bypass blew apart, and in returning to the car the lock jammed with the key stuck in it. That, and the lack of left turn signals, brake lights, a working temperature gauge, and suspected right front calliper sticking meant I didn't take the car to any more of the show. I'm still super happy though as I hit my deadline and still made it to one of the events! I thought it best not to push my luck and now it's time to focus on the smaller problems now it's running and driving.

Upstate NY guy here. Man did that footage of those roads bring back lots of great memories! I used to drive with a group of like-minded euro car guys in a driving club called numassmontring. It was a big loop through NY, MA, and VT. Those roads in Vermont, especially RT 2 were so fun. I ran a whole bunch of my cars on those drives, from my built 12v AAA mk2GLI, to a few of my e34's to my e36 track car build, that route through there was truly a blast! One of my friends from the club was a guy named Brent from Wilmington IIRC had some really sick Bimmers as well. My favorite he owned was a sick white/ green striped round taillight 2002 with big box flairs. I believe his plate was 'vtbimmer,' and he always had really clean classic bimmers. He worked at a shop in VT for a long time too. It was an euro specialist. If you said the name of it, I'm sure I'd remember. Seems that area has a lot of euro enthusiasts, and some clean cars that people tuck away and hang onto. Thank you for sharing this. It was very nice to watch, and good job shaking down the mk1. 👍😎

My mk1 is A 2 tone aswell. Corrado yellow,raceing green with a Metal flake.

Surprisingly it’s been fine ever since and this was over a week ago. Must have started it 30-40 times since! But yeah, a new one is a good idea

Maybe wind adjusters up on rear drums , but a mk1 only needs rear discs for looks !! You have g60 front brakes so you need a 22mm brake master cylinder or your brake will always be soft so you’re best bet is a mk3 brake servo and master cylinder swap

What rims are ok for g60 brakes?

Anything 16" and bigger should fit, anything smaller and you can run into problems with the backspacing of the wheel. On my 15" Enkei's, I have to run a 3mm spacer to clear the back of the wheel, and on some BBS splits the bolts hit the calliper.
