Fuel and brake lines run different sides on the gti, maybe why it was tight. Would take your weather than what we get back here in the uk 😃 Enjoying the vid's keep it up👍... Envious of that rs3 noise on track
@wobjobs18 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The RS3 with just midpipes sounds perfect for a daily. I think on the MK1 GTIs the fuel lines run more down the middle of the vehicle in their own recessed channel. I’ll relocate all the lines when I paint the shell. and yeah, the weather sure beats the UK most of the time!

26:21 I can’t tell if it’s misfiring but on my vr6 when it misfired the whole car shaked and felt and sounded bad . For me it was the coil pack it cracks sometimes over use and the moisture messes stuff up, but usually that happens randomly
@wobjobs18 күн бұрын
I do get a lot of NVH coming through the cabin, but I was putting that down to the stiff engine mounts. It resonates right around 2500rpm. But then my neighbour asked if it was misfiring, and then I heard the audio, and it got me curious.

@@wobjobsmaybe it’s the exhaust but for me when the car misfired it was almost unmistakable. But hearing it again I think it is, usually the cause is the coil pack

Be careful with that track rod end flip. I think you’re supposed to change the track rods for longer ones if doing the flip (hence the different nut supplied. The nut you put on didn’t look like the thread reached the pinch part of the nut so could easily come loose while driving.
@wobjobs19 күн бұрын
It definitely reached, they’re on there tight. And the tie rod still had plenty of adjustment. The whole steering rack needs replaced which I’ll do when it gets torn apart for paint
@wobjobs19 күн бұрын
Also, for the bigger nut to work it would mean a bigger bolt size on the tie rod, which would mean a bigger bushing, bigger hole to drill, weaker spindle, etc. The nut is for like an M14 vs an M12. No way anything that fits through the bushing takes a nut that big. I guess that’s what you get with eBay parts!

one the biggest thing to help in track/autocross, is to get locking lap belt(Full harness is generally ok in parking lot autocross, but frowned upon for something with roll over risk with no rollbar/cage like this track/autocross hybrid) Basically keep in yourself inplace while driving can make your movements more accurate. If your flying around the car from G force it hard to really push a car. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZizqnWLjM-mqJo sadly the old go to CG lock was discontinued like 5 years ago. You can also get a harness and just install the lap belt. Basically once you can stop bracing you can start doing stuff like LFB, and have more accurate steering inputs. Yes the driver could improve, but it hard to improve when you have slop to your car, its like having slop in a ski boot. BTW that Z looks like it was moving.

@@luxerl8825 it was so long ago but my guess would be to connect the blue wire on the body side to the brown wire on the tail light side if you want it to be a fog light. And blue to white for a reverse light. This is also depending on how the lighting module is programmed. N. America has 2 reverse lights, whereas ROW has 1 fog and 1 reverse light, and which side they’re on depends if it’s LHD or RHD.

What rims are ok for g60 brakes?
@wobjobsАй бұрын
Anything 16" and bigger should fit, anything smaller and you can run into problems with the backspacing of the wheel. On my 15" Enkei's, I have to run a 3mm spacer to clear the back of the wheel, and on some BBS splits the bolts hit the calliper.

Looks awesome, I'm planning on doing this in my 84 GTI. Can you move the seats much further forward than they are in the video without the inner side of the seat hitting the trans tunnel, or hitting the max travel of the rails? I'm definitely looking forward to some shots of how the seats move and how close they are to parts of the car.

I didn’t see any clearance issues between the inside rail and tunnel, I think the seat will have its full range of travel on the sliders

Awesome build bro! I'm planning to run 18x8.5 +35 rims. Should I be getting a 235/40 or can I go wider for a 245/40 tyre? I'm on BCBR coilovers. Will there be a need for any bodywork to be done? Current camber front @ - 2.5.
@wobjobs9 ай бұрын
I used to run 18x8.5 ET35 with a Michelin 215/40R18 and I needed my front fenders rolled and pulled with about -1.7* camber. Michelins run a little wider than other tires, I would say anything wider than a 225 is going to rub. And, if you’re going wider than that, look at 35 profile tires as a 40 profile in a 235 or 245 will start to get too tall.
