Watched your journey on Marine Traffic on Saturday. It was windy here in Prestwick so out on the Clyde…..! Well we saw from your vlog the conditions. Epic sail, Kilbrannan can be nasty so well done for a single handed trip and a long day. Thanks for an interesting film.

I got my S290 just after you got Sula and have explored the Clyde over the last few years. She won’t be in the water this year, so I am missing it. Thanks for the vlog, it makes missing this season slightly less of a loss. Last year I did get out the Clyde and made it west. Out by the Mull, back by Crinan, mostly solo. Get the tides and conditions right and the mull is fine. Campbeltown is welcoming and the anchorage off Sanna on the island is really useful to sit out a tide. It’s a different world out west. When you find out how good it is, keep it a secret.

Great video thanks. It brought back memories for me what I used to sail out of Troon marina (30 years ago). I would really love to try sailing again. Just to see if i can still do it :). Thanks again 👍

Great seeing you back on the water. You really have a good feel for the boat now. Do wish you’d harness in at least when going forward since you r alone on the boat. Don’t want to lose u overboard. Beard’s a nice touch.😉👍

Hi - great video! We were out and about around Largs over the same weekend - Tarbert via the Kyles - brilliant weather but a bit 'sporty' at times!

Great video content, please keep it up !, I find your content inspiring. I'm hoping to do a similar solo sail this season, much like yourself I've only explored the inner Clyde from top to bottom and want to go further afield, possibly Bally Castle this season ( White Gold : Largs )

I hate to say it, but you are close-hauled going downwind in the middle part of your film. It looks like the waves and wind are coming from behind or on your quarter, so the sails aren't set for that point of sail. If you needed to be sheeted in fully, you'd be going upwind and at that wind strength, you'd be heeled way over and not on an even keel. Was this on purpose? Also, I single-hand a lot and always wear a harness - short one so I can't possibly fall over the side and even have two ropes and clips so one is always attached. I have seen a boat that was found with nobody on board with its sails up off Tobermory and the owner was never found. Sorry to nag you, but it only takes one accidental gybe or one slip and you're gone for good and it'd be a day before anyone knew you were missing. Even when you have crew on board, if they know less than you do, is there any chance they could sail it back to you or drop the sails and get the motor started and get back to you? I used to teach sailing and MOB is the first thing we practiced because being safe is job one! You seem like a very nice guy and I really wish you safe and enjoyable sailing and keep up the videos.

Thanks for the comments Roy, much appreciated. You may well be right with regard to the sails. I had the harness to hand but didn't feel it necessary to wear on this occasional, although I always have an epirb on my life jacket. thanks for watching.
