The topic of 'women preachers' and 'women pastors' has been hotly debated for decades within the evangelical church. Categories such as "complementarian" and "egalitarian" have been created to describe the two primary camps that seem increasingly divided over this subject. However, in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker assert that this topic is not a matter of "ism's," but is a simple question of submission and obedience to the clear teachings of the Word of God. Listen as they look to the Scriptures to answer the age-old question, "Has God Really Said?"

Thank you for this eye opening podcast. My thinking was wrong and now it has been put right. Can't argue doctrine. Like you said the Truth is the Truth.

Brothers...well done! I love that you pointed out that not all MEN are qualified to preach either! God has prescribed the qualifications for those who shepherd the Body. Either we observe these qualifications or we don't. And if we don't, we are in rebellion against God!

I just can't get enough truth lol. When you guys talk I just keep saying amen brothers. My mouth has gotten me in more trouble. God has created women very amazing and our silence can clear the devil out. A praying wife and mother has extremely been more powerful then a women standing "preaching at a church" I know I went deep. I over talk on my husband and guess what when reading scripture im told to say less and pray and show love because it's true my talking a lot was coming from pride. Yup I told on myself. I want to grow in christ and I love your podcast. I have been put in my place in the past because God loves me too much to leave me where I'm at. God loves us all he died for us through His son so we can have a relationship with Him. That makes Him in charge and He knows me better then I do. I'm finally listening and you know what my husband can talk and grow now haha. Well and the fact God is the creator makes Him even more in charge. Thank you both for your podcast love them.

I enjoyed this conversation, and I’ve been blessed by it. You have taken us back to Paul’s foundations regarding women; 1) the creation of the woman and 2) the fall. In regard to creation, however, I believe that we fail to consider the possibility that Eve being taken from Adam and made for Adam is a picture of the procession of the Holy Spirit from God the Father. I believe that marriages and families are created in the image of a divine Marriage and Family. I discuss this in my page on the Trinity titled ‘God is a Family Called the Trinity’. And so I believe that Paul alludes to the idea that women are exalted to be made in the image of the Holy Spirit, while they are also called upon to imitate the Spirit’s subjection to the Father within the context of marriage and the church. It is not about feminism or womanism. It’s about a divine heterosexuality that explains how the Wedding Supper of the Lamb will be the culmination of all eternity, and why homosexuality is condemned because it is a rejection of the image of God in us. Thank you again for ministering God’s word to the church.

To be clear, are they saying that Priscilla Shirer is a false teacher / possible apostate, and should be rebuked / avoided for preaching in a pulpit?

Love your podcasts. A small request ... when you fire up the organ, it overpowers what you are saying. I can't hear your words well enough to follow what you're saying. So for me, when the organ is playing your words are lost.

I'm only about an hour in. While the idea of women pastors has never entered my mind because the Scripture is so clear on it. But I have to admit , hearing one of my favorite preachers, Spurgeon, saying that basically my only role is to cook, broke my heart. If cooking & teaching children are my only options, then I guess I have failed. I've always been bad at cooking. And I hate doing it. And while I prayed, begged, cried for God to answer my prayer for marriage/children, He said no. I am over 50. It's never going to happen. I will die alone. I will listen to the rest tomorrow. I hope they offer single women some hope. Not all of us are single by choice. I am not a "feminist." I want to love & serve God. It's not my fault that I am alone. I did not choose it. I would have loved to have children.

Spurgeon didn't say that cooking and being a house wife is the only role for women. He said it is an appropriate role and it was a right way for Peter's mother in law to serve. You can read the whole Spurgeon sermon if you life (it's called "First Healing and then Service" google it for a script) but here is another quote: "We greatly err when we dream that only a preacher can minister to the Lord; for Jesus has work of all sorts for all sorts of followers. Paul speaks of women who helped him much, and, assuredly, as there is no idle angel there ought to be no idle Christian. We are not saved for our own sakes, but that we may be of service to the Lord and to his people; let us not miss our calling." There are different sorts of service for different people, some have obvious public roles, some have less public roles - that doesn't make them less valuable.

It is truly a simple issue. Either you are striving for obedience and service to Christ, or you are burying yourself in sin and disobedience. It is not complimentarianism versus egalitarianism but sin and ungodliness versus obedience and loving God in the midst of a fallen world. Maranatha!
