Thanks, Geoff is always a fascinating interview. I didn’t realize how much I was a fan of his until he left Queensryche. He meant a lot to the band’s vibe.

We often consider bands as a "unit" and tend to forget that they are all individuals... while it's selfish to say, and we can all agree, I'd love to see them get back together... I agree with Geoff when he said " we had our time". How humble... The musical impact and memories the original Queensryche created will ALWAYS live on in our minds, hearts and EARS! It also amazing to see the band continue with new members, and continuing the Queensryche legacy in new ways. MUCH RESPECT to ALL past and current band members. For me, the original group was sonic perfection.... an amazing team of creators. Thank you for posting this captivating interview....

Goosebumps... suddenly I went back to my young days.. Take Hold of a Flame (live version) had such a huge impact on me.. (I remember on my first gig ever I had chains around my drums just like Scott Rockenfield : ) ) The albums Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime I played over and over and over.. and I was lucky to see them play live here in the Netherlands, which blew me away. What a great guy Geoff is, really awesome interview.. Again great questions and such a relaxed atmosphere Mike.. what a joy to watch.. thank you!

Absolutely superb experience this was. Exceptional interview, Mike, with great questions. You really brought out some stimulating dialog from Geoff. And for Geoff, I cannot put in words how much I gleaned from this insightful expose on Geoff's true thoughts. I was amongst those captivated with Geoff and Ryche from the EP onward. Those traveling tours with his company has instantly become a priority. Not only intriguing sights and flavor, but the acquaintance with Geoff would be entirely priceless.

@@therockexperiencewithmikeb8365 It's the best I've seen in years. Dan Rather does great interviews (The Steve Perry one comes to mind). You're right up with him. 🙌 It's the best I've seen from Geoff as well.

Mike, Animalize was my introduction to Queensryche also, and my first Kiss show/ rock concert! My older brother went with me and was hooked on QR after that, he went right out at got The Warning on LP right away, my brother is a great drummer and loves Scott Rockenfield!

Hi Mike, I first saw them open for Kiss supporting The Warning, and like you, that turned me onto them; and saw them several times since. Geoff is very well-spoken and seems like a cool guy. Not keeping my fingers crossed for a reunion after seeing this interview though, no tone.

The opening stanza to a 1990 hit Queensryche song recently came to fruition, after 33 years, when the Lunar New Year Mass Shooting occurred at Monterey Park, California. According to law enforcement, 10 died and 10 others were injured in the tragic shooting. The 1990 release "Empire" begins with a voice mail (next message, saved, Saturday @ 9:24 pm) followed by a distressed man's voice message and: "Last night the word came down, ten dead in Chinatown Innocent, their only crime was to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time" Sadly, one of the surviving ten victims has since passed, in the following days. Reportedly, the 33rd mass shooting this year.

Interesting retrospective of the Empire touring cycle. They played live on the Grammys. Very cool. Nice that they stuck to their guns. Cool Animalize story. That was my 1st time seeing Queensrÿche. He's absolutely correct with the observation that people's attention spans are shrinking. Interesting to hear him say if the EP hadn't sold he would have moved on musically.😊 The travel company he runs sounds fun.

Carrie Stevens. She dated KISS drummer Eric Carr, was a playboy playmate, dated John Elway and wrote an amazing book “Revelations Of A Rock n Roll Centerfold”. She talked about it all here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYm4ao2gr9B7rsU

Your intro is extensive, annoying. Sorry, my opinion
@therockexperiencewithmikeb83653 жыл бұрын
No problem. I appreciate the feedback! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Geoff abused his voice by smoking and inconsistent warmups before singing. The band had to change their sound when he started losing his chops. He can’t sing the old Queensryche stuff anymore. Certainly not as it was originally performed. This is the elephant in the room. Like many artists, he lost his voice.

That’s what the other camp wants you to believe. Saw him Oct. 2021. Full albums, Empire and Rage for Order. Great show and although he isn’t as top notch when he was in early youth, he still sounds great being 61 years old.
@c2jones2 жыл бұрын
Geoff is 63 years old now. Vocal cords are biological. It's unfair to assess the current vocal capacities of those shining in previous eras as if time didn't matter. We cannot expect cryogenics for these people just because some of us want them to stay frozen in time so that we can flashback to our youth through them. It's hard to scream for 40 years and no reasonable person should expect as much. Todd smokes more than Geoff ever did, but he's 48 years old. Geoff sacrificed his voice and put the majority of his life in Queensryche. If he hadn't done the screaming thing with Queensryche, his voice would be stronger today for more mildly forms of music.
@keithcoleylifeforce40202 жыл бұрын
By the time Promised Land was released, Geoff’s had deteriorated considerably. He admitted that he rarely warmed up before performances and he smoked. You could also hear this in his speaking voice. Our chords thicken as we age and we lose elasticity. This limits our range and agility. This can be mitigated by daily practice and good vocal care. This isn’t just about Geoff being in his 60s.
@c2jones2 жыл бұрын
@@keithcoleylifeforce4020 It's predominantly about screaming for 40 years and being in his 60s. Halford doesn't smoke and does plenty of rehearsal and his voice is at a fraction of where it was. Same with Steve Perry. With vocalists, their voice is the instrument. Biological organs wear out. Especially screaming for so long.
@keithcoleylifeforce40202 жыл бұрын
Tell that to Mickey Thomas. Ken Tamplin talks about creating vocal longevity. Even rotund Pavarotti kept it going to some degree into his early 70s.
