Thanks for the tips dude. I'm going to start using these tools. I'm a company driver but I get an incentive if I save on fuel.

Maybe you should have shown your buddy the little guy some of your fuel saving tips maybe he would still be with prime but I doubt it a lot of people said that he wouldn't make it there 2 months I guess they were right now he's back with Raven

9,000 ways to make money in trucking: Just need to find the way that works for you. You're not in Matt's shoes and haven't a clue as to all the variable pressures that went into his decision to leave Prime. Be happy that he's working on bettering his situation for himself and his family and leave the cheap shots unspoken.

After 20 years are driving a truck and being an owner operator and being able to retire at the age of 48 and not having to work anymore I think I've learned a thing or two I just never jumped from company to company like the drivers do nowadays just saying I know everybody's got to find their niche

When you discuss "Fuel Strategies" you sound more like Roger Penske than a OTR truck driver. GOOD STUFF!

Mark, Why look at the cpg less tax? Thanks, Bill
@MarkStaite8 жыл бұрын
Fuel tax is handled via IFTA so tax at the pump will either be a wash or a rebate later for you.

+mark staite, I've noticed since I got my regular class d drivers license that 90% of the time there must be an interstate freeway up charge as it's usually always cheaper to fuel in town, especially in small rural towns for some reason. like I said last night, I grew up in the Minneapolis/st. Paul twin Cities metro, went to hs out in Buffalo mn, lived there about 17 years, came back and noticed that something as small as 40 miles from a metropolitan area can make a huge difference. now, I use gas buddy app on my phone for my personal vehicle, there is listed diesel there as well, but the downfall is no plugging in of your start and destination points, can only input a city you're wondering about. thanks though, I'm gonna use this site if it also works for gasoline, ethanol blends, etc.

These are Lease/Op tools. Company drivers shouldn't really focus on this stuff yet. Step#1 - Get your CDL. Stay focused on that for now.

Hahaha," look at what i made for dinner"..thats a good one mark. You film quality stuff on the topics of truck driving, especially the fuel ones.....thats really using the tools of the trade. Thank you for your response....

at what point does out-of-route mileage become a factor when shopping for diesel? a lot of the fuel stops that popped up are not on the main hwy.
@MarkStaite9 жыл бұрын
Do the math on those OOR miles: How much fuel burned -vs- overall davings. Most times I find it not worth while to go OOR. Better to splash 50gals, bank the free shower, and push it up the road to a cheap spot enroute.

Jeffery Gibbons You could, but most companies will dictate your fuel stops for you.

Heyyyyyy brother trucker. I'm conflicted between Schneider and Prime. And the difference between the percentage pay is what's got me thinking more about Prime. I've been driving for about 13 years as a company driver. But pretty much hit the company driver pay ceiling. 72% vs about 65% is the differences. That's a big gap. But it seems like Schneider may have more consistent freight. Personally I'm a hard runner. While I'm out I wanna run as hard as possible to make it worth my time. Or at least be able to clear 15~1800 wkly after expenses. Is it possible @ Prime?

Mark what is ur opinion on this??...some drivers say if yu not driving 70 mph..yu wont make any money..but i have been told if yu bring it down to 62 mph..yu can save about 300 dollars a week in fuel..your thoughts??

Andrew Ward Two identical loads on two identical spec 'd trucks. Same appointment times... One runs 57mph, the other at 70mph. 1,200 miles. You chose: Do you want to waste money, get there early and sit for appt time? or... Keep money in your pocket and still make OTD? You chose.

So what do you suggest doing if the website you provided says a lower price than the prime app. As I was planning my trip in McClean IL at the pilot the website said 2.17 less tax but the prime app says 2.25 what would you do in that case?
@mh91139 жыл бұрын
Did you get an answer? I'm wondering the same thing. All of the prices shown on the website are actually cheaper than what the prime app is showing... Almost a 10-20 cent difference.
