A man, a woman, an old boat, a dream, always shit cold, rainy, overcast, windy, shitty days, tide changes, mud, in the open, exposed to the elements, hands freezing, rugged up to the max…… and yet you graft on undaunted by time, tide or temperature, unfu@#&ing believable, and yet here I sit, in my lounge, week after week, in Australia, watching every second of every episode and I don’t even have an interest in sailing, the sea or the smell of salt….. it has to be you two intrepid and exceptional people and you never failing enthusiasm, so well done guys, I admire your tenacity and it’s looking really awesome, well done

I cant believe how this is turning out .. while you were so busy doing the stringers and stuff in the front we often got e sneak peak of how the tops of the outside of the ship were looking, I often thought so much work on the inside and still so much to do outside. But now you get ready to put a piece of the deck on .. its all looking soo good, loved how it looked when the epoxy went on the tops and filling up the holes.. such a great project .. Sarinda never dreamed of getting back to the sea and now she dreams of the day when then engine fires up .. the mud looses it's grip and the ship will sail again. Still a lot to do but it's getting more of a reality the ship once will be sailing again, you 2 are working so hard on it..

I literally spit my Cheerios when Simon said “I been thinkin about doin that all mornin.” So unexpected and out of left field that it caught me off guard. You two are absolutely amazing. I can't wish you enough joy and happiness and, of course, success in this mega venture!😊. Sarinda is a lucky ship indeed. She's going to be absolutely armageddon proof by the time you've filled her up with all that epoxy! Lol. BTW, is the chain locker going to be protected by a stainless steel liner or extra thick marine ply? Just a thought, guys.
@davidelliott5843
@davidelliott5843 8 ай бұрын
I’m not so sure about stainless. It’s a highly noble metal that corrodes almost any other metal in contact. Ordinary steel will rust at all points of contact with stainless. Really not good for anchor chain links. I would go for a marine grade OSB lining and coat with GRP.
@nicholaskemp2246

I just didn't like the idea of all their hard work getting buggered up by anchor chains. I like the idea of marine ply and fibre glass. I suppose it all depends on the finances!

I’m amazed at how well this is coming on, those opening shots of the new beam shelf, breast hook, and deck beams is amazing. When you see how you constructed everything like the beam shelf using layered techniques at first it doesn’t look strong but then when you see it all coming together it’s just amazing and layered timber as you have demonstrated in the last, is actually stronger than just wood. Well done to you both and Robbo and everyone that t has helped out. It’s brilliant xx

You are doing an incredible job! I am in awe of how you have studied the original build of the boat and have not only replicated it faithfully, but in places have also decided to strengthen and improve upon what was originally there. It is worth we viewers remembering that this boat was built in an era where materials were in very short supply and the ship needed to be built as quickly as possible to aid with the war effort. That means that in places, the boat was perhaps built to the minimum standards required, so your work of improving and strengthening the boat is likely a very necessary thing to be doing anyway. Fantastic. I found it quite fascinating how the painting, or seeing the bow in one uniform colour, helped me to envisage how things will be put together in the next few steps. Excellent work and video!!

While a 'King Plank' is usually employed to allow angled deck planks to terminate neatly at the Bow, one can still be used with deck beams that follow the center line of the boat and not the hull. It not only looks good, it provides a sturdier, leak resistant base for your windlass and hawespiper, since there will not be any caulked seams beneath the base-plate or where the hawespiper passes through to the chain locker... And, You've done well mates, Sarinda is looking peng. She'll be the Queen of any boat show some day!...🐬🫖 🇬🇧

Great work as always, but you should rout a deep channel like that with several shallower cuts instead of in one pass. That's why it's making such a horrible noise. In the long run the cutter will become blunt much quicker, and it's not kind to the router bearings either.
