I'm on Ozempic in the UK.. Diagnosed with early diabetes. The service here is exactly the opposite of what you advocate! You are left to yourself to wade through. I have researched extensively thankfully. I have bought weights and resistance bands. Thrown out all processed food and have lost 2 stones ( 28lbs!) I'm determined to reverse my diabetes and do it properly! Thank you for your help and support as I'm doing this alone.

Helping yourself thru research online. If we don't take care of our health, nobody will do it. Keep up the good work! Im.on GLP too , new to it, and dr Tyna really helps me understand.

@paulras01 mainly the health system but also individual doctors vary. I think you are generally ahead in this field in the USA. I've researched a lot, Dr. Tyna and Mark Hyman particularly talk sense to me. Processed food is so bad .. and cutting it out has helped me enormously. I now think of sugar as a poison rather than a treat.. its made a huge difference to my general well being as well as weight loss.

Wow! Exact SAME thing! I don’t need to loose but I was pre-diabetic. I used to eat red meat (rib eye) ALL the time. Now I cannot stomach it. Mostly fish, eggs, & really light type stuff. I had a few frozen red meats that I precooked & froze. I can only eat a few bites, then switch to alternate protein & give red meat to the animals

Dear Dr. Tyna: Thank you for all your info, I was offered this GLP meds to lose weight by my primary doctor but he did not educate me what this all involves and so I became very uncomfortable and did not feel this was right so I denied the diabetic meds because of this. I did not feel comfortable and did not feel educated enough to take this med. So thank you; you hit it on the nail and gave me all the info I needed and realize now that my Doctor did not educate me correctly or fully. Thank you again .

I took my first dose of ozempic last Wednesday (8/28/2024). Starting weight 227.6 lbs 5’4” tall. I am awaiting surgery for my back. Surgery is a must not an option. Discussed starting this with my Dr as I feel any weight loss with help with my recovery. I am a sugar addict, would pass on a meal to snack on the wrong things later and too late a night. Found interesting that 2 days after taking my 1st dose I have lost my craving for sugar. I would rather have a 1 egg omelette with veggies than reach for a high sugar processed packaged snack. Stepped on the scale this morning and was 226.2. I’m not recording my weight in my journal until I officially weight myself tomorrow on my 2nd injection date. So much information here. Thank you.

So glad I stumbled upon your podcast. It’s like you are speaking directly to me. I am a 59 year old menopausal female who loves resistance training!! I am now recovering from an Adrenalectomy due to an 8cm adrenal carcinoma. I just finished 32 rounds of radiation without missing a single workout (best part of my day). I believe my remaining adrenal gland is finally taking over and am hoping to get my hormones and thyroid issues back on track. My next move is to purchase your Metabolic Revamp Toolkit. Can’t wait to get started!!

I have an adrenal mass that is 4 cm. My doctors say its not active but I'm still concerned because obviously its grown over the years. How do you feel after having the adrenalectomy as far as feeling different than before you had it. I have so many symptoms but the doctors act like its all my weight. I'm 52 and its been a long road!

@@JenniferStormyWeather my doctor is currently adjusting my hormones and thyroid medication in an effort to get me back on track. Hopefully I will have all of my energy back soon. The mass I had on my adrenal gland was what they called “high grade,” which means it was a fast grower. This was not determined until after it was removed. It went from 5cm to 8cm in less than 4 months - they were unaware of this at the time. All the while I had extreme swelling in my legs, my blood pressure remained dangerously high, and I was exhausted all the time. . I had never had these issues before. During all of this, the doctors didn’t seem too concerned because, as they stated, “95% are benign.” Listen to your body and the way you feel - so glad I did.

I’m so glad I found this when I was still only at a 5mg trizepatide dose before the doc automatically ramped me up the dose ladder. 6 months later I’m still happily at 5mg dose, losing a solid pound (or 2) a week, eating thoughtfully, slowly increasing strength training and exercise as my previous injuries allow (herniated lumbar disk biggest pain), can’t find a doc that will do HRT yet but searching. As I’m approaching my goal weight, I’m excited to experiment with your microdosing technique for my maintenance phase along with the healthy habits I have put into effect. I’m now thinking I may taper back my dose each week to see where it lands that I’m still loosing only a 1/2 to 1 lb a week instead of the current 1-2. I also appreciate hearing the honest truth about how our generation really was raised on such garbage and how it impacts us now in midlife (I turn 50 soon)

If I eat fried food while on Ozempic, I throw up. This happens all the time. I was always throwing up on the 0.25 mg dose. My nurse practitioner told me to scale back a few clicks. I reduced the dosage by 15 clicks and I am feeling much better. I have more control over my eating, I'm not hungry all the time, and I stopped smoking cannabis because Ozempic is helping with the nerve pain in my hands and feet. I don't need cannabis anymore since my pain is much better. My chest pain has stopped, my blood sugar is good, and my blood pressure has improved from 204/135 to 147/90. I lost 48 pounds in 6 weeks, going from 208 to 160. I started taking the meds on Monday, June 3, 2024. I will continue with the low dose of Ozempic and only increase it if necessary. I'm really thankful that my NP advised me to scale back and that I found your channel. I'm feeling hopeful about my diabetes and I hope my A1C is now below 7, down from 14+. I have an appointment with my doctor on August 8 to get my blood work done. I can't wait for the results. If one day all I have to take is Ozempic, I will be so happy to stop taking the other medications.

The fact that knowing that eating fried foods would cause vomiting leads me to believe that for a lot of us, avoiding these types of foods is actually encouraging and promoting healthier food choices! My newfound fear of french fries and deep fried donuts has resulted in selecting healthier food ❤.

Are you a bot? Your username sounds like an added on account that bots often use. I can't imagine a nurse advocating their patients take a drug for life when they could restore their health through a proper KETO or CARNIVORE way of eating. Of course, the medical profession doesn't make any money when patients do this. Is that why you're not mentioning it?

1 year on Ozempic under the care of a bariatric doctor. I’m only on a low dose (1mg) because of the cost (insurance won’t cover it) and also because I’m having great success at that dose. Also taking Metformin for GI and on HRT. Lost 100lbs so far. Gave up sugar, alcohol and refined carbs. My daily goals are protein 100gm, good carbs 100gm, fibre 25gm. The only time I feel nauseous is if I get over hungry and my stomach is completely empty. So small (healthy) snacks are key for me.

I listened to a plastic surgeon say that there is no such thing as Ozempic face. He said it's the natural fall of your face after you lose weight. Once the fat cells are gone, your face assumes where it would have been all along. I thought that was very interesting. Your face will always be declining structurally, so it makes sense to me.

I’m glad I found you. I started on compound since insurance didn’t cover. I’m very proactive about my health and have done tons of research and am in discussion groups. I really agree that doctors not educating patients about the other “prongs” to this treatment is unethical. Let me tell you, all these compound patients are stumbling around in the dark with no guidance from the telehealth/medspa providers. For many of them, this is their first experience with weight loss, and they have no idea what is normal. Then, they have the ability to adjust their own doses! Its madness. You’ve convinced me to start exercising more and not to titrate up automatically each month. Thanks!!

I can't change my past dosing, but I can affect the future, so it's on! Sitting 50 lbs down using compounded tirzepatide has been life-changing. No more apnea or CPAP, dropped two blood pressure meds, and half another. Now armed with kettlebells at my side that I know I should have been using all along. I'm asked all the time what the "long term" is and I tell people that it's strength training, body composition, and getting metabolism healthy and working with my (excellent) doctor to titrate down as I get the good habits in place. Thanks for getting this information out there!

@lynnadam5629 You're right that proper food choices are the key to making progress w/this medication, however it is so very, very hard for those of us who battle with temptation. I live in Palm Springs CA where the "all you can eat" Chinese buffet restaurant serves up copious amounts of deep fried, delicious, absolutely irresistible food. Sometimes "sheer willpower" to resist temptation just isn't enough. This is why I feel these new, innovative GLP-1 drugs have become lifesaving for some people. The "urge" to indulge simply isn't there anymore. These are very effective drugs for those of us who lack the willpower resist temptation and I hope science continues on this trajectory towards optimal health and wellness for people who truly struggle to make healthy choices with regards to food consumption. Not everyone has the ability to resist temptation. Having a little help from the pharmaceutical industry is life changing for some of us.❤

With this education, i will ask my Dr for a new Rx and do this properly. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge! 🙏

I’m on 1 mg for a year now.have lost 10 kgs which is great but more importantly my blood sugar and blood pressure is textbook good. I’m type 2 diabetic and it works for me. Side effects were bad for about 2 months when I started out on .25mg.but went away after 6-8 weeks. But eating healthily ,walking each day and getting a good nights sleep is still absolutely necessary

Finally! Thank you for this positive information about all these different things. I’ve been on compounded tripeptide and now on namebrand Mounjaro, off and on for the last year and a half and everything you say is definitely things that I’ve experienced and no one is saying what you are saying. I will spread your message to the people around me that need the information. The first time I was on compounded lost 65 pounds. Off for six months Now back on namebrand, not really losing just maintaining but not gaining weight. I seriously think my metabolism is not right. Still trying to figure this out.

Dr. Tyna, can you please address the potential side effects, like loss of vision? My naturopath doesn't recommend these. She does have access, but she says she is very controlled on who gets it. Long term there are no results and if you stop, you gain all the weight back, not to mention the cost. Please let us know your thoughts?

Type 2 diabetic here. Been on Ozempic for 6 weeks now. Weird medicine to say the least. Changes to appetite and digestion have changed significantly. Blood sugar went from 10-17 to 4-6 in the 1st week. My HbA1c went from 9 to 7. I started to lose weight on the medication I was on before I went on Ozempic, and have while been on it, not put any back on. The ‘greasy’ food you talk about…. Yeah, I recommend no one chow down on some yummy KFC chicken because the nausea was off the charts. Lesson learnt big time.

I exercise, both with weights and an instructor (Petra Genco on You Tube), I try to get at the very minimum 80 mg of protein. I know I should be getting at least 120-125 mg and working to get there.

Great information! Thank you! I'm 68 and I am Vegan for 28 years, for ethical reasons. Veganism is not a diet for me - it's the choice I made for my life. I am healthy but interested in improving my energy. - I'm under a lot of stress. Am I too old for this program ? My son - 45 years old, has been diagnosed with severe Psoriatic Arthritis in 2017. After hellish years, he's now on Tremfya and for the first time can walk, has no pain, and his skin cleared, which took 2 years. He has metabolic syndrome and is overweight, nothing else - yet. I'm tremendously interested in your approach, bc I know this Biological might not work forever. He also lives on a mostly vegan diet, but eats fish sometimes. He's trying gardening and rowing for his muscles, but has fatigue after 2 hours. We are so interested in this - I will head over to your website, and thank you again.

I am confused as to why I should use GLP agonists when eating adequate protein and strength training (done correctly) will do the trick. Some of us are high risk for hormone therapy...age and cardiac issues. I wish hormone replacement therapy had not been scared off due to that assanine study 20 years ago. Now my doc says hormones will relax my arteries and break loose plaque. I cried!!! Also sleep and stress really matter as you said.

Thank you Doctor Tyna, I just started on Ozempic, and after watching you I was amazed at all of the health conditions that Ozempic treats. My BMI is high putting me in the obese category and my A1C puts me in the pre- diabetic category. I also have Osteoarthritis, so I am very interested in seeing how this drug, along with healthy eating and exercise can decrease the inflammation in my body. I had TKR in my right knee, and I remember my orthopedic surgeon stressing the importance of getting a sufficient amount of protein. I was about to eliminate red meat altogether, but it’s clear that our bodies need some red meat. I would like to know if the resistance bands will aid in protecting the muscle and walking, aside from lifting weights?

I look forward to multiple visits to your informative site & learning all I can about the best way to manage this aspect of my health goals. Think I’ll also follow up with a qualified nutritionist/dietitian who is current guiding others that are on a similar treatment trajectory & see how that goes. Merck researcher here: the difficulty is that NO ONE provides sustainable strategies for fulfilling protein macros when one's appetite is wiped out. And trust me - many folks simply have no appetite, hence the loss of muscle that would, of course, occur for ANY reason protein requirements are not met. Would you consider a video addressing this?

Started yesterday on Weg at 0.25, a touch off today, but by no means awful. Really dialling in my water intake. I have been weight training for about 4 years and have a good muscle base, I can see great muscle tone under the 'fluff' I'm carrying, and the 'fluff' just aint budging! I want to lose about 8-10kgs. I'm at 80kgs now, 5' 9 1/2", 32% BF, 58yo F. I want to see how I look and feel at around 70kgs or 22% BF. Preserving my muscle as much as possible is paramount for me. I dont want to look gaunt in the face and also have loose skin from dropping too quickly. I started HRT about 3-4 years ago, and I focus on achieving 100-140g protein per day. I'm aiming for 1 - 1.5kg loss per fortnight (2-3lbs). It's not a sprint! If it's working well this first month, hoping my Dr keeps me on 0.25, if I need to go up after 2 months to 0.5, then perhaps that's my sweet spot. Who knows???? I'm keeping my options open and dont plan on racing up the dose each month just because that's what's expected. Hope my Dr is ok with that too.

I don’t know if I agree with taking the medicine away if they aren’t complaint. I can’t think of any other medication that a doctor would literally take away as a punishment for noncompliance. If obesity is classified as a disease then that’s actually cruel. Would you take away someone’s insulin because they are eating crap? No! That would be malpractice. I am taking it and am doing all the things but that’s me. It’s very important that people find someone who isn’t punitive.

@@annettemitchell2485 idk. She said that if the person doesn’t eat right and exercise. Thats clearly what people accuse fat people of doing….using the medication to “cheat” and not do the work. I don’t think she meant people who were just trying to lose a few pounds because then she would have used the term “vanity weight”. She’s not the first doctor to say what she said online. There’s still a lot of prejudice against fat people. Even with these drugs some people still want to make it about willpower and character. I’m not fat but I can see the judgement. I just think it’s sad when healthcare professionals speak like this.

Big question about exercise and training, though. Will I only retain the muscles that I work, or does regular daily exercise such as rucking protect me all the way around from muscle loss? I’m only getting around to two upper body workouts a week, but otherwise doing other stuff daily, including walking and rucking and spinning.
