When you, as the artist, truly love your own art work it shines through so much in the piece. Those suncatcher things are just gorgeous. I hope you can find a way to use that volcanic paint - it was such a shame that it "punched" them in the eyes.

Yeah, some of those poor suns and moons had really bad skin conditions, not sure if you need to contact a dermatologist or a vulcanologist. I love the addition of the crystals and the beads, they look gorgeous.

It’s a joy to see your happiness and pride. They are wonderful! I like the sound of them gently clacking together and, of course, the gleams of the gems shining all over the room. Yes, you’ll always be making them, and there’s still the option to paint flowers and stars all over them. I really like their purpose to be beautiful and inspire. Good job, Shelby! Luv ya! 💜💜💜

The double glazed volcano pieces showed promise, their potential is worth exploring even when this first try was a no-go! Personally I have never cared about objects with faces, so these aren't for me, but I can see these would be a love ly starting point for front door or door frame ornaments that greet guests and keep the evil wibes at bay.

We had sun moon and stars on our Christmas tree as I grew up. My parents are gone now and this year I gave my daughter the sun moon and stars as a Christmas memory of then they are exactly the same as yours facially with the smoother face sun and they are verdigris glazed
@whyisthisachannel Жыл бұрын
I gaaaasped when you showed them. I thought surely it wasnt that bad, but no. That poor yellow sun looks like... the way the glaze reacted together, it looks like all of the creepy games that have been coming out lately, with like. Childrens schools being haunted. It's a pottery SCP. The idea was SO GOOD, and that glaze betrayed you so hard! The finished pieces are perfection though. Theyre so lovely and those suns and moons were all over my childhood, too. i love them, I'm so glad you found a new piece to bring you so much joy, and the things you're making now will also become part of some new childhoods. Isn't that just wonderful?

When you add jump ring to anything, it is better to use two pair of pliers. You twist in opposite directions to open and close the ring. This helps you get a tighter join. I like how you designed the added elements. Keep on experimenting and thank you for all the joy you bring us.

The failed ones are so funny and cute! It's cool to watch you play around. You remind me so much of my Grandma. She had a pottery studio when I was reeeeeally little and I can just imagine the joy and fun she must have had making cute things, and all the trial and error that comes with it. We used to make jewelry and do other crafts together, but I never got to learn from her how to do the bisque pottery before she passed away. Looks so fun. I appreciate that you show the whole process.

My daughter had those same sheets. I actually painted a wall in her room dark blue to match the sheets. Then I used gold paint to add constellations and sayings about the heavens. Your little suns and moons are so lovely.
@SwirlingSoul Жыл бұрын
I think the craters are easier to make by just putting some little pits in the clay itself, and THEN using the volcanic glaze. I think then it'll enhance the already existing craters and roughness. So I'd start out with a rougher moon first. Absolutely gorgeous pieces though. I love how it catches the sunlight. That is precious.
@CricketsBay Жыл бұрын
Oh, wow! The ones with the normal glaze turned out so awesome! Maybe you could spray paint the volcano glaze fail ones and then use acrylic paint to paint the eyes and make them into Christmas tree ornaments. Or use a really shiny metallic spray paint and turn them into sunbathers too.
@snoepnr1 Жыл бұрын
if you simply spray out the vulcanic glaze pieces you really don't like in some nice bright colors you can hang them as ornaments in a tree in the garden..

The first firing yellow ones look like the old 1913-17 films of journey to the moon. The moon was the face of a man, all the actors have exaggerated face make up with black ringed eyes. Your suns and moons reminded me of those first pre sound 🎥 films. Every “mistake” is a learning process. I make soap. I keep a video diary and extensive notebooks on every recipe, so I know exactly what I do and what turns out each time. I often follow recipes and it just turns to custard. Sometimes you can save it, other times it’s drain cleaner. Broken china makes excellent drainage at the bottom of flower pots! Love your videos xxxxx

My friend had a cool beaded suncatcher piece hanging in her window. If I remember correctly, the top had a loop of seed beads and then a small clear suction cup attached with fishing line (which went through the whole piece). Edit: Actually, thinking about it, I think there wasnt a seed bead loop before the suction cup. I believe the line went straight from the rest of the piece to the suction cup.

Love the regular glaze and the beautiful trinkets combination! The volcanic glaze would be in the trash for me. It looks like the piece is made of cement and actually brings it down. Hope you experiment with how you paint the sun and moon some more. would love to see the lips brought out or stars or other things added to the faces. You are so good at unashamedly praising your work when it is good and facing the failures when they come along. It is fun to see you enjoy your art and work.

When you get a new glaze, like volcano glaze, try it out on the tiles so you have some idea what will happen before using it on an artwork.
