Back in the 80's I did a good sized fender well patch on my buddy's car in chip glass, don't remember which brand. I was about 16 I guess back then and had learned bodywork from my dad who went to school in the 60's for bodywork. My buddy didn't have much money and I had the glass already so that was that. He told me a year or so later after he blew the car up that he beat it with a sledge hammer one night (there was a little alcohol involved) and the chip glass didn't come out. lol. He told everyone in school too. Made me feel pretty good and everyone laughed when he told the story. Funny how watching your videos brought that memory back of my younger days. You're good at what you do my friend and that ol chip glass there is some really tough stuff...lol.

Nice work! It's amazing how far you have come with the boat. I have found that most of the short hair fillers seem to be very similar but standard polyester fillers vary greatly. I like Evercoat gold or rage gold for a general purpose filler. The color gives you a good mix ratio guide and it levels easy and sands easier than many others.

So i've had a hard time finding the pro strand in my area. I can find the pro lite online but the pro strand seems maybe very less common... I heard evercoat makes that for NAPA and they just market it under that name. So, do you know what evercoat commparable filler would be?Or possibly use the totalboat structual repairt putty instead? Thanks!

Yes, Evercoat makes a very simular product called everglass it is a short strand fiberglass reinforced body filler. I have a putty and fillers video and there are links below for lots of the products we use. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

After I fiberglass the 1" coosa board stringers do I need to seal it with paraffin wax or is that not necessary? Thank you for all of your videos they are very helpful.

You can finish it with resin or gelcoat that has a wax additive in it if you want to. It can also be left as it is if it is in a unexposed area. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching

Yes, I grew up in a boat shop. My father was a professional boat builder and repairman. He started the family business officially in 1968. We built my first fiberglass skiff when I was 12 yrs old, it had a well-used 20 hp Johnson outboard. Regrettably, he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer when I was 20. He was an awesome Dad and a Great boat builder! I built and repaired boats for the next 20 yrs, working on a range of large and small projects. In my early 40s, I got my 100-ton captains license from the Coast Guard. I started building the pattern for the 29 that you guys have been watching us build around that same time. I average around 200 fishing trips a year, so it has taken a while to build the pattern, the mold then the actual hull. My wife bought me a GoPro as an anniversary gift along the way, and I started filming some of our work. I started the KZbin channel as a way to promote our charter business. I posted a few boatbuilding videos in the winter months when the fishing content was slow as a way to keep the channel moving. And to show some of my charter clients what the new boat was like. The response on the boatbuilding has been good, so I just kept making videos. I plan on making a mix of boat and fishing-related videos after the build is finished. I would really like to create a professional-level KZbin channel over time. Hope You guys will keep watching! I really appreciate Your support!
