EP 19 - New Experiment Tank Crayfish with Shrimp

Here, I tried to make an experimental tank with crayfishes and shrimps to join together. The result was bad. Crayfish tended to attack and eat shrimp even though I fed them often.

I’m so happy that this video got 1K view on KZbin ☺️ I’m glad I shared my experiment to all of you guys and thank you for the view and like I got in this video. So, I would like to clarify something in this video that I uploaded. Kindly read it carefully:
1. I do not recommend you to do what I did in this video. Since, I’m not satisfied enough, I tried to do this by my self. I started this hobby since December 2020. That is what I got from adding crayfish in the tank. I learned by doing something. Thats a fun thing to do. BTW, the crayfishes were last only about 1 or 2 weeks I guess. After that, I moved all the remaining crayfish in my pond. Anyway, Kindly ask me questions in the comment section if you have any☺️
2. About the crab, I did it by unm.... what I said is..... umm... a coincidence. So, I was bought crayfish in fish store then I saw them sell Crabs too. It looked so good. So, I bought it too. At home, I builded the tank and by a coincide I added the crab too since I dont have puloadrium. Anyway, the crab last only 1 day. The next day I free them LOL
3. I’m not giving up with crayfish. So, I made another experiment with crayfish and shrimp. I did it in 64L tank. I’m gonna upload it soon. Well, just a spoiler, It was went so good. Just wait it until I finished it!

This is so good, the dudes at the aquarium store said those dwarf Mexican crayfish could live with the shrimp. They want 10.00 a shrimp. That's a lot money for crayfish food

🤣 It’s sad but It’s true Well actually, I got my shrimp not from fish store. I got them from shrimp breeder. It was about 1.2 USD per 100x cherry shrimp.

Mexican dwarf crayfish can live with shrimp. i breed both together. This video was not of Mexican dwarf crayfish so of course the shrimp was eaten when housing with a procambarus species.

@@atheselebi1083 So the Cambarellus texanus didn't harm your plants and shrimp. What kind are the ones in this video, though? Around here you generally find the Cambarellus diminitus, it's known to be fish and plant friendly and definitely one of the smaller crayfish. btw, is that a vampire crab in your video? Those need land, too, not just water.

No not at all my crayfish didn’t harm my plants. They’re too small to do that. But for the shrimp, I’m not really sure cuz sometimes my crayfish attack them and sometimes he ignored them. I guess it is because of the territory. When the shrimp come near the crayfish’s hangout place, the crayfish probably defend themselves. But I’m not really sure too cuz sometimes they just ignored the shrimp. They’re also a pure predator and love to fight each other. It’s a big mistake to add them in community tank. They will definitely harm your plants , fish, and shrimp you have. Guess I have been pretty lucky so far. I have a young adult snakeskin blue moon crayfish. A month after he had settled in I added some ghost shrimp. After 2 months all is well, the crayfish totally ignored them. I then added 2 red cherry shrimp, no problems. Then I added a dwarf Mexican crayfish and a rabbit snail. Several months have passed and to my surprise all are coexisting just fine. They're fed well and there is no plants, just rocks and driftwood. The crayfish does have his own cave and another small hide for the shrimp and dwarf.

Yeah, bottom feeders and plants don't do well with crays unless there are a LOT of hiding spots and not a lot of crays. I have three adult Texas swamps and a few younger from the three adults. I tossed a handful of shrimp I brought home from my office tank three months ago since it was overpopulating. Two managed to survive this long but the rest became cray food. Any plants that go in there get shredded. They even tried eating the plastic ones

Yes definitely it is. It was just an experiment. I made this tank for my own curiosity about the shrimp and crayfish. Oh, by the way It only last for about 2 or 3 weeks before I move them in my pond.

i just started a smal aquarium in my room, i thought all freshwater animals would be kind to each other i didn't learn much, so i just put them altogether in one tank after 2 days, most of my little fish, shrimp, were gone eaten by the 3 crayfish on the aquarium..🤣🤣 and now, i have to put the crayfish into "isolation".. they cute, but don't let this fool you..🤣🤣

It depends on the crayfishes you own. If your crayfish is kind of marlboro (like in this video), It is definitely a big no. They will eat anything on the tank. but... If your crayfish is kind of brazos dwarf, it was fine. I made a video about that here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fICom4J5lKeoa80

I suggest you pick dwarf crayfish instead snow white and marboro (like in this video). The dwarf crayfish (texanus) in my aquarium was okay but the bigger size crayfish like marboro and snow white will definitely eat and destroy your plants. Make sure you have big tank too. Yes that orange crayfish is dwarf but the rest are called marlboro crayfish. Those which has blue and white color.

Thank you so Much! I’m glad you like it. Ah.. I see. At the end of the video, I gave them boiled cucumber. Sometimes, they bored with pellets. So, I gave them with boiled cucumber and they like it. BTW I suggest you to read the description cuz crayfish in this video is not safe for the plants and other fish mate.

So hopefully you learned a few thing!! First the crabs need more terrestrial (land area) they are not truly aquatic. Secondly, crayfish need more space per animal as they are territorial. They can live with shrimp but you need more space and they (crayfish) will eat your plants. That tank would have been great for just those shrimp and possibly 1 crayfish. Nice experiment thought. You would have had more success if it was 120 gallons and filled with a third of water and much more rock / land, surface area above the water for the crab. Do a little more research about each species your going to keep next time and your experiments may turn out a little more successful. Keep up the good videos!!
