Thanks for the coordinates on the camping site on the North Fork Big Woods River in Idaho. We visited the river area in September 2020 and we gave you a shout out on our most recent video - Ep2 Boondocking Idaho. What a wonderful area and a great state to visit. Thanks!

Terrific job, and thanks for the shout-out! You gained a new sub. Glad someone else got to experience their camp being overrun by hundreds of sheep. That happened to us years ago up on the Manti Skyline in Utah, long before we started GA. It's a true experience. Sorry that you didn't get that spot you wanted along the North Fork Big Wood River -- so they have that blocked off now? It was fun to see many things from our own back yard that we know, and learn of some that we didn't -- like Black Magic Canyon. You're off to an amazing start, keep producing wonderful videos like that one.

We have been visiting Sun Valley/Ketchum since 1975, both Summer and Winter. Baldy is a world class ski mountain and the Summer/Fall Fishing on the Big Wood and Silver Creek Nature Preserve is always special. Even though we own place in Sun Valley, we will be arriving this summer with the camper and may check out your campsite. Thanks for the friendly review of our special place.

Appreciate your comment! You're going to love that site. While the exact spot identified in the video description is a sonofagun to get into and out of, due to the sharp transition to the river bank, you can see other rigs just to the north and south of our spot in Google Satellite -- those spots are a piece of cake.

I went to Sun Valley last week and got a speeding ticket the first day I was there, the cops there won’t even give a tourist a warning. It seems that even if you are nice to them they are out get extra money out of us out of towners. The supermarkets are expensive there and the propane and gas prices are also high too. Needless to say I won’t go back. There are better places in Idaho to visit where you won’t get ripped off. Go where you are treated best!
@GrandAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Sun Valley has never made any pretense of being inexpensive since its founding as a resort in the 1930s. However, its position as the gateway to the beautiful Sawtooth Mountains will always give it a special place in our hearts. Sorry to hear that the local fuzz turned you into a revenue source!

That's perhaps the most asked-about campsite that we've ever featured.
@laughingram72873 жыл бұрын
So here is a question.... It states that in this area dispersed camping must be at least 100 feet from streams. How were you able to camp this close? Was it already an established camp or was there another way. Am I missing something? We are planning to be this coming week, Lord willing. Ram
@GrandAdventure3 жыл бұрын
@@laughingram7287 it was already established. If that regulation was in place at the time back in 2017, we would have unknowingly been in violation - as would most of the established sites in that valley.
@laughingram72873 жыл бұрын
Also, I suppose, the main thing is they don’t want people polluting the streams with soapy water from washing dishes and things like that. RV trailers are “self contained”. Ram P.S. You’re up late!

trying to figure out where to go on our next week long trip. this looks like my kind of campsite but it would take two days to get there. i'm going through your ID, UT, & CO videos, see if I can find a pretty mountain vacation spot within a day's drive of Denver that won't be too crowded in early June :)
@GrandAdventure5 жыл бұрын
With this year's big winter, I'd recommend playing it by ear for early June. Just keep an eye on remaining snowpack.

@@GrandAdventure yes, snow always a concern in the mountains. That's why I usually like fall better but we're doing a different trip in the fall this year. I'll probably end up calling the ranger stations and asking what it's "normally" like at that time of year, knowing that normal doesn't seem like it's a thing anymore lol

@@E_House in spring, and again in late fall we tend to be desert rats, anywhere from southern and southeastern Utah through northern Arizona and southern Nevada. We usually gravitate to mountains by snow melt in late June when the desert areas are becoming too hot to enjoy.

@GrandAdventure4 жыл бұрын
There's a Google Maps pin to the precise spot in this video right in the KZbin Video Description; however, there are a bunch of sorts spots along that entire road, many of which are easier to get into and out of than this one. This one has a sharp transition that makes it very, very tricky, although you could eliminate that transition by staying back another 20 yards on the upper flood plain.

Any time. It's tough to get down to because of a sharp transition between levels of the flood plain. I had to block to get out of there to keep my rear bumper from dragging. I've also heard rumor that the USFS closed that spot. But there were other spots just above it on the upper level of the flood plain that would've caused no issues.
