I use silicone spray lubricant on the carriage rods and screw jack. It dries completely, which helps prevent dust from sticking to it. I do this about once a year and it works great all year long.

This is super helpful! I bought a saw off craigslist and granted I've only been ripping pallet boards that are all knotted up through it, but I always plane every board flat before ripping them. I haven't ripped one single board where there wasn't resistance and it felt like I was on the verge of a kickback. I will be definitely taking your advice and putting it to the test! That was very helpful on the blade alignment. Thank you. I bought the 7491 RS, and absolutely love it, but after watching countless set up videos not one described so perfectly the actual blade adjustment. I have a digital gauge, but really struggled with the adjustment. You'd laugh at my attempts if you saw them, but I did zero it in eventually(an hour later). A simple tap, tap, and tap. I love it! Thanks for this advice…you’ll also like to try a gentle hand lifting the motor as you wind up….you’ll find it moves easily as it should. So, the linear guides aren’t jammed up or lacking in lubricant, but out of alignment . If you hook a light spring or bungee under motor, attached to underside of table then problem is solved for good. Hope this helps too. 👍

When tightening the bolts back after aligning the blade, tigten them every other. First a little bit on this, then a little bit on the other. One will offset the blade in one direction the other offsets it the other direction, So what got misaligned turning bolt #1, can be compensated back for when turning bolt #2, so it's possible to keep it aligned while tightening, until they're both tight.

Remove fence nuts, plane/joint piece of hard wood. Use nut serts. Bolt back on. Cut excess, what’s left of fence will be flush to blade

I don’t have this table saw but I considering buying it. What needs to be tapped to bring the gauge to zero at 4:40?

So just before the tapping you see me loosen 2 bolts. Those bolts hold the assembly on which the motor and blade are attached. I’m then tapping the Allen key braced against the edge of that assembly to move it very slightly which in turn moves the blade into alignment. It’s a bit fiddly but it does work. I’d probably use something other than an Allen key in future but that’s what I had in my hand 😂

Sadly the lead screw lifting the blade will eventually strip the female thread in the aluminium casting. You can replace the casting for around 60 pound but it would be better to take the original casting to a machine shop and get an insert nut to replace the thread, probably best in phosphor bronze. The internal thread from memory should be m14 x 2mm pitch, common fault on most table saws.

0.1 of a mm is steel machining tolerances. I would be amazed if any worksite saw could be tuned to 0.1mm tolerance, 1mm if your lucky, but 0.1mm ?

Well that’s what the guage read so….. Weather or not it maintained that through a cut. Probably not given flex and user induced movement, but I can say this saw maintained within 0.5mm accuracy and would retain 0.1mm in relation to the mitre slot. So I guess, be amazed.

The biggest flaw with this table saw is that the miter slots are not perfectly true. Thats a problem because all cuts are based off the miter slots. Any idea how to fix that?

Well I think I got lucky with mine but if you’re not so lucky, then possibly the only solution is to align your blade with just one slot and make your jigs to fit that. Most sled style jigs can be made with a single runner. This said, I’d probably return and request a more accurate replacement.

Im 'trying' to calibrate mine now. Running those gauges through the miter slots is a waste of time because the cross brace rocks on the surface as its pushed across which isnt flat. Bloody aluminium tops!

I had a similar issue with my home made guage. (The gauge was out in my case) ended up pushing it through and using finger pressure on two points of the gauge to keep it constantly in contact with one side of the slot. Not perfect but got me close enough.

I put one layer of blue painter's tape along the edge of my sliding guide rail. It seems to improve the fit.

The Bandsaw is from Axminster. It was an ex display model, one of their professional range. I think the closest model now is the AP2552B. Selling for about £1200. It’s a nice piece of kit!

I looked on amazon, and couldn't find a geo tech dial, found one called a neotech? Is that what you meant? Looks very similar and has the aluminium little mitre slot with it you said about. And I wouldn't bother cleaning those dewalt blades that come with the saws. I found them to be utter garbage. I used mine about twice and changed it for a couple of freud blades. A nice 24 tooth for rips and 60 tooth (if I remember right) for cross cuts. Although I do most of my cross cuts on my mitre saw, which has a 254mm Freud mitre saw blade on it too. So basically got a cross cut blade for a table saw for nothing. But as it's new and cuts so good I use it for finer work at times. Definitely worth cleaning your blades though, makes a mega difference, like a new blade the first couple of cleanings, I've known people to throw blades that just need a clean. Makita and dewalt make some decent tools, but they don't make great blades. I do put my makita blade back on my circular saw and mitre saw if I'm cutting anything that might have nails in it (which is very very rare) as I think they have the ability to go through nails? I'm not sure if they're supposed to, but I've gone through a few and didn't even feel them. So I keep the old blades that come with them for that stuff. But wouldn't want to go through nails on a table saw and so have no reason to keep the shitty blade that came with the table. I think threw it away, or maybe gave it away? So yeah, my advice would be to get a nice freud blade for the table. I don't think they do a dedicated table saw blade at 210mm, but I use a circular saw blade, they use the same mechanisms as table saw. A table saw is basically a circular saw upside down and vice versa. Never use a mitre saw blade for a table saw or a table saw blade for a mitre saw though, they are NOT interchangeable. The angle of the blades aren't the same. Just I'm case anyone doesn't know that, could be dangerous, especially using a mitre saw blade on a table. Wouldn't be too bad the other way round other than maybe some bad cuts on the wood. Great videos though. Enjoy watching. Cheers. Also, what do think about wd 40 dry for the table? I have some of that kicking about, never really used it, but might come in handy now. I also haven't had the same problem as you yet, but better to prevent it than cure it.

Hi Ricky. Yes Neotech Geotech, same difference, mines geotech but it’ll be the same thing, it’s not a very high end item but it’s plenty accurate enough for this application. I have a 10” Freud blade for an older saw I had but sold on and (spoiler alert) I’ve just bought myself a new10” saw for Christmas, unboxing to come! Wd40 doesn’t work to lubricate. I’ve tried it and from memory it worked a bit initially then seized up again fairly quick. I’d get a dedicated lubricating fluid. The fox stuff is stupid expensive and I bet the same product is sold under a different name for a different application and much cheaper but I haven’t searched that out yet. @@CaptainofmyShed definitely looks the same. I assume it's some Chinese thing. I have one of the cheaper blade angle finder things, works completely fine too. Sometimes it's fine to go with the cheaper stuff, especially on the job site saws. They parent terribly accurate, although I was lucky with mine, it is incredibly accurate, it was out of the box, although my bevel adjustment is very tight to move, win some lose some guess. Yeah, I have some wd 40 dry. Its supposed to be a dry lubricant? Did you try the dry one? I can't remember where I got it, I never bought it I know that, and I rarely if ever use it. I use my wd 40 regular for squeaky doors all the time. But this dry one I've ever used I don't think, so when you said you need a dry one I thought of that and hoped I may get some use out of it. Will look forward to seeing the new saw. Nothing like a new tool for Christmas. I tend to buy myself new tools all year round unfortunately. Bit of an addiction of mine it is.
