Hi Matt, I enjoyed this video just like I enjoy all of your videos. Here is a little more history of your new boat. I have lived in Clearwater, FL, USA since 1970. I was at the local launch ramp (same location of Clark Mills designs) just hanging out when I saw this small 16' sailboat come in. In conversation with the men sailing it, I found out that this sail was one of the first tests of the Compact 16 in high winds. I asked how it went and they said it exceeded all there exceptions. It is a good little boat. Around here many of us like to sail in very shallow water so her draft is too much for us. Thank you for all your great videos. dale

I'm looking forward to your adventures with the Compac 16! I've had four of them and have been sailing one for 30 years. In fact, the interior picture that you use for an example is from my second boat! I used it in my listing. Have fun!

Mat, the light on the mast is your steaming light. Used when motoring at night. Hope this helps. Capt John.

@johnburgess5534 yes, as long as it has the correct arc of visibility. On small boats I prefer to use a single all round white at the top of the mast for a combined steaming and stern, or anchor light. But you need to switch off the stern light when its on.

Nice 16/II. I sail a Compac 19/II. The light on the front of the mast is a "steaming" light. It is turned on when motoring at night to signal other boats you're a sailboat under power. There should be a running/anchor light on the stern. In the U.S. it only needs to project 180* on a boat this size.
