The majority of modern humans are likely to develop CARDIAC disease as we age. Most doctors focus on the cardioVASCULAR system because it supports the LIPID-HEART HYPOTHESIS as to the cause of plaque buildup in the vessels or plumbing system. But there is another critical system that regulates the heart and is equally or more likely to become dysfunctional…the NERVOUS SYSTEM of the heart….the “electrical” system that regulates HEART RATE AND RHYTHM. In this video we discuss one of the commonest causes of arrhythmias and what you can do about it. Most doctors cannot reconcile this explanation because it conflicts with LIPID_HEART. We also provide some of the easy to understand science your doctor may be ignoring. Help them to know the scientific truth about how your body works.
Research Discussed...
Diabetic cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy.

Some people need a high saturated fat diet, while others require more carbs along with less saturated fats. Our autonomic nervous system is the best determining factor for individual diet choice. Atkins treated parasympathetic driven patients with a high saturated fat diet with excellent weight loss and complete blood sugar/insulin balance. Sympathetic driven people can vary from a diet with less saturated fats and a medium carb intake, while some do best on a vegan diet. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWXJZImYmLmSe5o

Thanks for this good information. I’be been a nurse for 20 years with at least 10 years in cardiac nursing. It’s so sickening to constantly hear about low fat and low cholesterol when patients are coming in constantly with MIs with low cholesterol and on statins. The big push now seems to be a plant based diet. 🤮

My wife used to work for dermatologists. They would see referrals from cardiologists who had put them on low or nonfat diets. They were all suffering from terrible skin conditions, for which they were prescribed MORE drugs by the dermatologists. Such a disgusting racket!

So reversing your insulin resistance is a key factor in the reversal of this condition. If I understand you correctly, The repair of the chronic nerve damage can happen over time. My husband has had a history of A-fib which was treated with blood thinners and also cardioversion on two occasions. He has been keto/carnivore for the past three years and no further incidences. Also will add he’s lost about 100 pounds and kept it off in that time. Getting the cardiologist to remove medications is like pulling teeth. It seems the smart thing to request is a 24-hour Holter monitor, or even wear a device to monitor heart rhythms long term. Maybe then, the evidence would be more convincing to the cardiologist. I understand the risk of stroke incidence being much higher with an A-Fib history, however, that’s assuming one hasn’t made major lifestyle changes.

Not "fixed" with blood thinners, just a bandaid. The fix is diet (must keep very detailed log), exercise, sex , sleep, sun, lifestyle, monitoring, possible Vit / Minerals, supplements for a while, extra complete blood work, .... That while package is a treatment program.

Wow, terrific presentation. Have argued for years that I need a new wiring harness or my myelin sheath rebuilt. After stent in 2013, retiring / unavailable doctors after 2020, sliding into chronic afib as advertised by cardiologist, I find you have the only logical, defensible answer. Despite Medicare, we'll find the way to see you out of network. Those of you who do the heavy lifting, going above, beyond and outside the box are few and far between. God bless you!

I have such anxiety with the Holter monitor that I believe it gave me false high bp readings. The last time I did one, I drove home in a snowstorm while wearing it, then just as I was drifting off to sleep, the sudden noise and pressure woke me up and made me angry several times. During my follow up with my cardiologist, my blood pressure was less than 120/80. So, I purchased a home monitor, and when my new (new grad) cardiologist asked me to do the Holter this year, I said no and told him why. At first he was fine, but later cancelled the follow-up because of "non-compliance". Too bad, because I really wanted to see the results of my echocardiogram and stress test.

When I was eating low carb low fat SAD American diet, I had irregular heartbeats and skipped heartbeats sometimes along with other health issues I was noticing. So I switched to the low carb keto diet and it almost completely went away. I switched more to an animal base diet and irregular heartbeats completely went away have not had any sense going to an animal based. diet. My blood work is now excellent and I feel better than I have since I was in my twenties!

I used to have scary frequent heart rhythm problems & no energy & hard to breathe, salty eyes, and my doctor said it was anxiety & anemia. After I went low carb healthy fats & 2 meals a day instead of his recommended eating 6 times a day high carb low fat, I rarely have heart pain & rhythm problems & will try KETO & OMAD to fix my health even better since my blood sugar number is still around 100 & I still have some painful inflammation & heart rhythm problems when I enjoy too many carbs sometimes bcz of celebrations & treats my family makes or buys. It's hard to be the only one missing out. But I'd rather live longer so I'll try to behave. Lost all the 70 lbs that would be healthy to lose but gained 20 back. I got 2 dairy goats recently so I get more exercise than before & healthier milk, cream, butter etc too.

I believe I did have an increase in occasional Afib (WPW related) in the year after I started taking Atorvastatin due to TIA's happening 3 times. Now that afib was stopped via an ablation surgery, I'm told Afib incidents sometimes RETURN after 6 months or a year. With a Calcium score over 700, I'm still taking Atorvastatin. Could the relapse into Afibs be because patients remain on statins after the fix? I'm a type who doesn't keep fat (or gain weight) very well, in contrast usual Dr. Cywes patients. I'm also diagnosed with Reflux due to hiatle hernia, ADHD (a recent surprise at 75 years old), and of course, bowel over-sensitivity issues.

What can I do? I've been on a carnivor keto diet for a month and a half or two. Does it take a rocket scientist to work an EKG machine from Amazon? So my main question is what's next? Will the carnivor keto diet (mainly carnivor) fix the problem? Thank You kindly in advance.

I use to have Paroxysmal afib. (intermittent. every few days for a few hours) It was corrected 5 years ago with a catheter ablation procedure. I had been taking a blood thinner before the procedure. My cardiologits put me on the thinner becasue I had afib. After the surgery I asked him how much longer I would have to be on the thinner. He said the rest of my life. What? I thought you put me on the thinner because I had afib and now I don't. He stated once an afiber always an afiber. What? Essentially he indicated he didn't want to be sued if I keeled over. He also wanted me on the statins I was taking for the same reason. I had HDL of 90 and tryglycerides of 40. So there is my story about a negligent cardiologist. I have been off the statins and blood thinner ever since. And, by the way, my blood work ups have been better than ever the last 3 years because of the keto diet I have been and my OMD.

Hi Dr. Cywes. You said something that really confused me. You made a statement that salt contributes to hypertension? On the keto diet I heard over and over to eat lots of salt. Which is it? consume lots of salt, or stay away from salt if we have heart issues? I still have edema after consuming lots of salt for 5 months on Keto. I recently cut my salt intake. I thought by now I should not have any more edema. Before Keto I stayed away from salt because of edema. I know one size does not fit all, but I'm very confused. I will have to call you for a consultation. I listen to you and Dr. Ken Berry. I think you both are very, very knowledgeable. Thank you for all of your informative videos. God Bless.

Dr Eric Westman from Duke University who is one of the pioneers of scientific research about the effectiveness of nutritional ketosis has talked about having cardiac patients that needed lower sodium keto diet. Generally when carbohydrates are sharply reduced, the body retains less sodium so someone in a very low carb diet has to eat more sodium (Dr Phinney also has talked about this), but there may be some people that have to still be careful about their sodium intake while doing keto. If you are on keto and experiencing headaches and muscle pain you may need a bit more sodium. Please listen to Dr Phinney's talks on sodium in keto

Hi i needed to talk with you please please dr, i have been wearing a 30 day holter. I came in after having random episdoes of my heart rythms just being weird and sometimes going to over 150 doing nothing, it would happen hanging with my kids or just sitting around doing nothing and it comes on sudden i got scared and ended up calling cardiologist agter going urgent care day before and being made a fool of. (This dr said my oxi meters stupid and that i should count it only. meanwhile im hooked into theres and its beeping like crazy me just standing at 152 bpm. The cardiologist called me yesterday 28 days in, they said they arent seeing any abnormalties except fast heart rates possibly sinus tachycardia and some over 150 I asked if they could look into it and dr ordered a labwork for thyroid something and magnesium along with like 2 others. I have been petrified as it sounds like most of the things going on with my heart are matching up with what was mentioned. I even have oximeter and have noticed weird as well as recorded some. I get dismissed for anxiety often or worrying about the moniter too much etc. When i tell them ive only used it when ive felt weird burning or i could feel like the pounding in my chest almost like i could hear every beat sometimes super fast. I got told multiple drs that the o2 is not reliable cause when they read my heart while im lying flat im more around 80-100 instead of the 150+ on standing that i came in about... i also use a phonr app with most up to date phones they have small sensor near camera for pulse and heart rate, i have taken several during episodes and get alerts for arrhythmia and tachycardia. Its like no one wants to listen to me if i mention wanting to sjow a video or picture...its been very depressing almost to the point of giving up. My son has been keeping me going but honestly im tired.

Yeah, I can certainly relate to the fact that arguing with my cardiologist was futile! The ONLY thing he looked at was the fact that my total cholesterol was just barely above normal levels. (2 points). And all that kept coming out of his mouth was “ you need to be on statins”. Well, thanks to a very limited number of doctors who do understand the science, I said BS and that I would improve my lifestyle first, before simply popping pills in hopes that it would make things better. It’s disgusting that so many cardiologists, with such magnificent brains, are really just drug pushers and will not get current on new science in their field of medicine. The ostrich with its head buried in the dirt keeps coming to mind 😢

I tried to have a conversation with my cardiologist here in SoCal, and he just went to logical fallacies. The appeal to authority: the Cleveland Clinic does it, so I’m gonna do it, etc. Then he pulled the, “statins reduce the relative risk of heart attack by 34%” nonsense. He wasn’t aware I have done medical informatics for decades and know the difference between relative and actual risk. I am carnivore and statin free and doing amazing.

Part of the issue is time / money. We spend years learning. Millions of dollars in costs for time and education. The video over 20 minutes. For me and my group of doctors, we provide time by the minute, not by visit. So if the patient wants 5 minutes or has booked 5 hours we don't care and will give them the amount of time they have paid. That is fair, honest, justified service. All customers / clients / patients should be on a pay by the minute program. All pre-paid by retainer just like legal fees. This allows everyone to get exactly as they need from the time / services. The system is broken. Needs to be a cash for services system.

I had regular arrhythmias basically every day for many years and they were only getting worse, along with hypertension that I wasn't able to solve, even with common medications. I changed to a ketogenic diet high in fatty meats and not only did I lose a lot of weight, but after several months the blood pressure eventually came down and numerous other things I didn't even know were related also improved. And then I also realised those annoying arrhythmias had completely ceased. I had actually completely forgotten about them. They haven't returned.

@@sarahm2926 I have no idea how long it took to be honest. I only realised they had gone after some time, wasn't focusing on them going away because I wasn't expecting or looking for that to happen. I also started to take magnesium and Vitamin D during that time, and I think that helps quite a bit. On a couple of occasions I ran out of magnesium supplements for a week or so and the arrhythmias very noticeably came back on both occasions - and I wasn't expecting this to happen. They faded 3 days or so after resumption. I've been religious about taking magnesium and eating magnesium rich foods since. There's good info out there on magnesium, it also goes hand-in-hand with taking Vitamin D. There's only a couple of types of magnesium that are readily absorbed by the body. I take a Magnesium citrate supplement that doesn't give me the runs.

My husband has dealt with afib for 7 years. I myself recently experienced several episodes of afib. This is the very first time any doctor has explained the cause of arrhythmias as related to deterioration of the myelin sheath around the heart’s electrical node pathway. I finally understand what the problem is (cause). Now what? We need a video discussing the repair of that nerve insulation. Can it be repaired with a low carb/keto/ carnivore diet? What else would help? How long might that take? How long are meds a necessary evil? As someone who hates rate control meds and does not want to be pushed into an ablation right away, what can be done to put afib in remission?

Before I cut sugar and carbs July last year, I was experiencing arrhythmias constantly - my heart would get into episodes where it would feel like skipped beats and strange rhythms every minute that would run on for hours. My Apple watch never detected atrial fibrillation, but the ekg certainly didn't look normal. The arrhythmia seemed to correlate with my breathing. It was really getting concerning. I cut carbs/sugar completely, and the arrhythmias disappeared. Literally. Haven't had episodes since. Just one of many issues that just went away never to return. It's amazing to me. I thank the good doctor here for fighting the good fight educating people. It's like I have a new lease on life.

Like you I did my own research (thankfully before taking them) and learned about the possible side effects. Her HDL had gone UP by 20 points.(raising her total #) And her triglycerides went down, to a level lower than her HDL even. So 3 aspects of her panel went in good directions, but he said she was now worse off and needed drugs to fix it. She came to me because she trusted my opinion more than her doctor. I do a lot of health research, but I'm not a doctor, so this is a sad testament to what the state of our health system is, and how pharmaceutical protocols rule the narrative. Have you looked into POTS? I know alot of people have improvement with keto/carni possibly related to the improved electrolyte intake, and higher salt intake

@@davecopp9356, did you count your macros? If you went heavier on fat, did you as a consequence lower your protein intake?

@@JN-or1zr No. Was that the mistake? I am already too slim for my height, so I did not lower protein and only added more fat. I already lost too much weight doing the carnivore keto style. I would like to add weight, but it seems impossible. Not sure if I should add a few plant based starches to gain weight?

Incredibly interesting….thank you so much for this. I just read Dr. Malcom Kendrick’s book regarding a thrombogenic explanation of plaques. The lipid heart hypothesis seems just so wrong.

Very useful information. Quite clear that the only type of heart attack that most people & doctors refer to is via some form of occlusion of a cardiac artery. This is important since ~80% of us are likely prediabetic

Oh My Goodness! FINALLY! Answers and info about AFib and other arrhythmias! Started Keto in January. ER with Afib mid January, (RVR) rate 165. Ablation in Cleveland (horrible experience!) on 3/3/22. THREE 4+day hospitalizations since then. In and out of RVR 4 times. IV loaded with Amiodarone on 3/08/22. Sent home on 400mg Ami. Have been weaned down to 100mg/day and was told TODAY to stop Amiodarone. On Beta Blocker for HR. Just placed on HCTZ 12.5 to help control BP. Constant SOB, but good news is I am now referred to as a "Carb Restricted Type II Diabetic" in my medical record. Went from A1C of 7 to 5.3 since Oct 2021. Average Blood Sugar 105. Wearing a CGM. PS had a "beautiful" heart cath...Not a 'plumbing' issue, but they say I NEED a statin. NO plaque, NO cardiovascular disease, LDL went up with Keto and restricted carbs (Oh No!) lol. Will be contacting you soon! TYVM for ALL you are doing! Bless YOU!
