Ep. 25 - The Springbank 15 - An Iconic Aussie Cruising Dinghy

We put this short video together with old footage of one of our favourite Cruising Dinghies; 'Piccolo' a Springbank 15.
Dinghies & Daysailers in Jervis Bay are building new and more refined versions than Piccolo, which was one of the early heavier GRP boats.

Denmans is an absolute favourite. In my top 3. Spent many nights nosed up in there, the ideal summer Nor Easter anchorage. Watching the sun go down over Port Arthur is a bloody good dinner backdrop!

Seeing as the mast fits inside the hull, it looks like it can fit under a 4.5m over bridge? A dodger or foredeck would create a drier boat with more storage. Pity the thwart isn't removeable. I put my removeable thwart across the gunwales to create a table for food prep. Some removeable timber floor slats would keep you out of the bilge water at night. I'm a wooden boat owner, can you tell!

Hi Jason. What do you mean ended up? Do you know this boat? She was named 'Swallow' and we changed her name to 'Piccolo' after Jo's favourite coffee. We sold her years ago and I'm not sure where she is now.

Correct. We sold Piccolo to Holly, then she went to someone we don't know. Great boat.
