This is an interesting analysis and discussion of Boris Johnson, but I am amazed at about 35 mins in to hear Boris's role in the Ukraine/Russia war to be tackled without any such balanced analysis. Was it not Boris who intervened to prevent the peace talks that were becoming fruitful between Putin and Zelensky in April 2022? He, apparently, saw the situation as an opportunity for the West to 'press' Putin. As I understand it Putin had military kit and manpower arrayed on the border, but was willing to turn back. These talks should have resulted in peace and territorial negotiations, but Boris's urging to Zelensky to refuse these negotiations (which he'd been ready to work on hitherto) is the reason for the horrors that have resulted. I say, blessed are the peacemakers. Boris was a war-maker, and that is an enormous mark against him. His intervention, when European leaders were far more equivocal, is what has resulted in the inflation and financial destruction of Europe, and the growing strength of the Russo-Sino-others alliance. None of this needed to happen!

Thanks for the comment. I’ve seen this theory aired but also strongly denied by Ukrainians themselves. Also by reporters I trust like John Sweeney - but there’s much to learn about what has really been going on in Ukraine I admit

The Garden bridge project cost around 50 million and produced nothing. I am sure his bridge or tunnel to Northern Ireland would have exceeded that at least tenfold.

I think you need to have a look at his record as London Mayor, it wasn't good and dogged by controversy.

Great episode ❤ love the podcast, you guys are fabulous. The world now laughs at UK politicians, especially the latest iteration of Conservatives in power. 6 down - all worse than the predecessor. Really sad to watch the country go downhill so quickly, we need a strong balanced leader who is actually in touch with people not just politicians, who understands the bigger picture, not his own pockets / pants. If Etonians continue to fill politics, the country has no chance. Imagine being one of BJs children, and the long term affect of having him as a father. His example as a father / partner is as bad as his politics, lies and corruption. Awful example of anything English (of course, he was born in America). How do we get longer podcasts?!? These are too good for just an hour! 😊

Poor Boris, he had the right looks, quite Churchillian. I admit I wanted him to have a go and gave him a vote. I simply couldn’t believe it when we were told of his lies and all round infidelities. Not the Right Stuff after all. Gradually though we were forced to admit he wouldn’t do and, sadly, he was surrounded with many others who also wouldn’t do. I fear we are now on a downward slope and I am scared.

In light of recent developments, this was very interesting. Electorally speaking, Boris was a huge disappointment, but perhaps more so to himself. As your guest points out, campaigning, and administrating are two very different skill sets. Though his chaotic Mayoral record sign posted what lay ahead. Despite loathing politicians, I have a degree of empathy for Boris Johnson, as he casts a rather forlorn figure. That could change if he re-renters public life. 🤪

I am not sure why is he taking cheap shots at lebedev, them east europeans, to divert attention from this 20 year old blonde. at least lebedev did something in his life besides being young, blonde nd within the eyeshot of boris. And, btw. - Borys is a popular slavic name, as is alexander.
