The Duke and Duchess of York have been in the public eye for decades. Once widely admired for their freshness and sense of fun (and his record in the Falklands War) their lives became tangled in a series of scandals, both financial and sexual. Today he lives in a form of internal exile, banished from royal duties after settling a court case with Virginia Giuffrie, who alleged she was trafficked to have sex with him. It is extraordinary that we have a group of Royals who each have the most colourful life behind the scenes that rivals any to soap opera. I don’t watch soap operas but I do find myself caught up in the sensational private lives of the family that seems to have a charmed life on the surface but have troubles valor behind the headlines. I am ashamed of my curiosity but so glad I live in a time we can peep behind the highly polished facade of the popular press. It is a great way to learn that all is not as it appears to be or as we are told it is. to be.

Looking forward to the book! I’ve always wondered why the duchess was kept “safely “ behind closed doors. She never owned a home of her own after the divorce until recently. She also had Beatrice’s full support and protection during Eugenie’s wedding in case there was any embarrassing behaviour from her. Strange that as the only sister to the bride, B was not senior bridesmaid. Andrew was more of a bridesmaid on the day!

I felt sorry for Bea that day - her mother is so unpredictable, unreliable and dumb that she needed a carer with her and that role fell on Bea who should have been with her sister on her Big Day. From what I've seen and read, Andrew comes across as a not very bright, entitled pompous ass who would do well to lie low for the next few years. His money deals are highly suspect, his unapologetic use of private helicopters to go and play a round of golf is a slap in the face, and maybe while he's a friendly chap with some people he is downright boorish with his aides. However, I do agree that his relations with Giuffre require more evidence as I for one am not completely convinced - I think there's more to that story. That said, if it helps to keep him in the doghouse for a while that's good, though I fear it might not be for long, and as Andrew says, these black sheep tend to fall back into old habits

Ive always wondered why his protection officers didnt have a detailed diary of every day spent with andrew . They could actually prove if Andrew was sleeping with Virginia or not ! I know our secret service keep track of thier principals and nobody can ever accuse while the principal was being protected of doing something wrong or criminal . They keep a detailed diary of the principles actions & interactions on a daily basis

I have never been a fan of RF the more I learn and hear of their way of living, give me the working class masses any day. In the 1990's and early 2000's Fergie gave the likes of Hello Magazine lots of interviews that were very revealing. How she was the one who introduced her kids hard booze and gave them cigarettes when they were young teenagers, how friendly she was with Mr. E...."tell Mr. E the Duchess of York expects his call"... How she had two "fires" in the houses she lived when they separated - think booze and cigarettes and an ultra dim Fergie and work it out - Andrew had to take her back for her own "safety" . How Ramlada Lodge (or something), which I think was given to her by the Queen but Fergie thought was too small. She should be ashamed of herself. My recollections and opinions only of course...
