Good job, smart using those strips under tank. Coming along nicely! I'm not a fan of that tank. Way to much plastic and to many sealed holes that can cause a leak. We all know what fuel does to plastic. Also the low gauge seems cheap with the tiny pin for swivel. I'm going to upgrade to a different tank, maybe welded bungs whenever I get there. Love the videos.

Given that many automobile and motorcycle gas tanks have been plastic for 20+ years now, what do we all know about what fuel does to plastic? The plastic tank on my 2007 BMW is going strong after 17 years. And not rust as with the old metal tanks.

I think you want the fuel low sensor wired fail safe so if the fuel is low or the sensor fails or power to the switch fails you get an indication. If you count on a closed circuit to give you a low fuel indication, it is very possible you could lose power or failed sensor and you will never know!

Great point!

I use Gasoila also and it is good stuff. However, it is really designed to be a thread sealant, not a gasket sealant. And the gaskets as on the RANS fuel tanks aren’t made to have sealants and really don’t need any. It may not hurt to put sealant on them, but if the sealant deteriorates the gaskets it will be a mess.

Good tip on wire twisting- Thanks.

1 psi isn't enough pressure. I don't know how much PSI that plastic cap can take though. But mild turbulence will produce more than 1psi of fuel slamming around in there.

1psi over 24 hours is a typical leak test protocol and was completed to the manufacturer’s specification. Any more than 1psi would begin to severely deform the tank.

How is the gasoila working? Any leaks?

Bone dry! The test vessel I made over a year ago still is full of avgas and not a sign or hint of any degradation of the gasoila on all the fittings.
