The Skink :: An S21 Outbound Build :: Ohio Bush Planes

When I heard the neighbor-boy bought a factory-fresh RANS Outbound, I most certainly had to sell my Glasair and get cracking on the home-built version. This video is just a montage of sorts--to waft the aromas of experimental aviation under your nose. Well, that, and if I live to be 80 and my youtube account isn't overtaken by virtual butt-pirates, it will be fun for me to watch while eating a bowl of applesauce.
Oh yeah, my friends Zane and Paco have decided that the colors of this brand-spanking new airplane are reminiscent of that of a lizard known as a blue-tailed skink. Until we come up with a better name, that's it. The Skink.
Oh, and the blue tail is also mirror-like, so when you see me camping at Johnson Creek, there will be no excuses why my hair isn't absolutely perfect.

Thanks! It's really similar to the Glasair. Ergonomically, its very similar. My finger keeps reaching to adjust the prop though! And this new flap lever goes vertical two more notches. It's noticeably lighter and more nimble. The Outbound climbs faster. I think the Glasair would shine more as an IFR machine and hauling an extra 100 lbs. The Glasair roll feels more like an airliner (longer wing). They both burn about the same amount of fuel at 150MPH. I don't actually know which one is more efficcient at slow speed, because I'm still breaking in this engine, but I suspect at 120 mph this one will save fuel/money/carbon credits. Mine both had Titans, but the Glasair had 205 HP vs this one at 180 HP. Although the Glasair was a refined beast, this one is (hopefully) more suited for the farm and our missions, time will tell!

I'm impressed your plane has all kinds of interesting things on it, your strip looked a little small, but you seemed to have cleared the trees at the end. It looks like it is on a slight incline, but could be the camera. Better to be a tail dragger than a knuckle dragger

This kitfox is an advanced all-aluminum highwing designed by RANS over there in Kansas. Their kitfoxes are way more better than the kitfoxes made by Kitfox. I mean, they are all smurfy if they make it off the ground and don't kill you, but if I had a choice, I'd go with the super smurfy kitfox from RANS.
