Wish they still made Ford Ranger trucks today just like what they did back in the 80's and 90's up till 2010. Best looking design ever.

@danbasta3677 I still daily drive this truck to my shop (when not riding a motorcycle.) But it still is running great, and sometimes it doesn't tick at all. 🐲

No matter what - nice truck for the $$$ - very nice. Interior - besides cleaning yourself possibly - there are places around that will steam clean it and get it pretty close to loking like new for $200 - $300 - cheaper than replacing it when you add something for your time. :-)

Sorry just saw your comment. I have alot of plans for the truck, if I could only get time to work on my own stuff. It's motorcycle season here at the shop, so I've had no time for my own stuff. Thanks for the advice and comment. And again sorry such a late response.

It's still doing great, I have been daily driving it to work for almost 2 years now. It's also got me through 2 winters through the snow as well with the 4x4 I would not have got to work without it.. Thanks

Throw some Lucas oil additive in it and it will help the tick

Yep, That's what I do, but it only helps for a little then it goes right back to ticking.

If you plan on doing a V8 swap you are better off finding a wrecked V8 explorer and using the 5.0 and the 8.8 rear end. Stay away from the gutless 4.0 and the tranny that will going out at 150k. Other then that you got yourself a very nice truck I'm still trying to find a 2wd version.

I agree with the explorer idea, it would have everything I need including stronger front axle too. I do hope to some day V-8 swap it, God knows I have watched every video on it and read every forum post about it to feel like I have actually already done it. At this point I'm going to leave it untouched for this winter since it's fast approaching, and maybe start the drive train next spring/summer. This ole 2.9 has some bad days lately , ticking loud and losing power. Of course other days it doesn't tick and runs strong, either way it's just a ticking time bomb. I do actually daily drive it 10 mile round trip to my shop each day. Thanks for commenting!

I have 5 of those "gutless" 4.0 litre in explorers and all have over 200,000 miles and 1 has over 300000 miles and it's never been opened up. I've replaced all of the engine accessories such as alternator and starters, etc, but the motor has been faultless for me. Possibly you have had bad luck with yours. I also have a plain jane 83 ranger with the 2.8 v6 which I've had to replace the heads twice already, but granted that vehicle does have over 400000 miles on it!

Well, it has either 80,000 or 180,000 the odometer only has digits, but I would guess 180,000. I have but a couple thousand in the last 3-4 months, driving it every day, runs good, just taps alot...
