The dichotomy between Sam's Ian interaction and Sam's Harley interaction is so interesting but very clear. Sam only fucked with Ian because he knew Ian was coming over with bad intentions. When Sam saw that Harley approached him with good intentions and didn't want to come in and punk Sam that's when the real Sam came out. If Ian really wanted to see the "real Sam Hyde" this is what he should've done, and both parties would've benefited from it immensely.

Ian autisticly couldn't infer Sam's politics and thought that Sam was effectively hiding his views from others, so in his mind he had to grill/interrogate Sam to to get to the truth to satisfy himself and to have some kind of Scooby-doo unmasking moment. In reality though Sam doesn't really hide his views at all and quite a large portion of the population in-fact holds much the same views. It's a false controversy in a sense, the only people who are mad are certain types of leftists, and the vast majority already knew or could easily infer those beliefs for themselves. There is a rumor that Sam Hyde is a diehard N**i but that is not true even after a casual glance. Or at-least it should be if you aren't some kind of idiot.

Idk if Ian wanted to punk him. He seemed to respect Sam and I got the feeling he just wanted to portray him as he displayed himself, but was just disappointed when the way he displayed himself was so guarded. But maybe I missed some info that would change my view. I loved the Harley content anyway

@@actualfirstname1079 I personally think the whole 'meta-irony' thing was pretty telling of what Ian actually thought of Sam. That and the whole copyright strike thing. I didnt really believe that Ian was entirely over that interaction despite what he said. He referred to it as 'burning a bridge' and seemed almost annoyed that Sam didn't remember that it happened.

Coach was training Harley like a light heavy / cruiserweight, which is still good for drilling basics. Sam's training seemed more appropriate for a guy in Harley's weight class. Speaking from experience, nothing can prepare you for trading blows in the ring with a big dude like trading blows out of the ring with a bigger dude. Arin was doomed the moment Harley decided to set foot in that Rhode Island parking lot.
@jayfron6012
@jayfron6012 Жыл бұрын
Yeah what Sam did may not have been traditional, but it was very effective for getting Harley read to trade blows with another big guy. There wasn’t enough time to truly get solid technique and implement it in a real fight scenario. Sam got him ready for the chaos of his first fight and to get the W with Harley’s basic strength(his jab)

I guess everyone goes through their own journey of finding out what's BS and what actually works for them. ♦ L-Theanine and L-Lysine have actually helped me out. L-Theanine is good for jitters / too much caffeine. Calms you down, doesn't make you an idiot. L-Lysine is good for fighting off infections, healing, anti inflammatory, and stopping injuries of infections them before they get bad. Good for healing cuts and stuff too. I am not a scientist, just a nerd that tried way too many useless supplements. ♦Biotin actually made my hair look fuller too. Not magic hair growth, but made my very thin hair look much fuller and healthier. Gave me some insanely strong nails. Pregnant women take that because babies steal nutrients for hair, skin, nails, etc. Best of all? Getting the F outside, in the sun, is by far the best thing you can do for your body and mind. The politicians do not care what you think, they’ll do what they want to do. At the end of the day there’s only one party, and they placate the ones that get them to where they want to go. Being on a side is so pointless, especially when you call out the other side on their evil while actively ignoring the evil your side does. People are to stupid for their own good, to emotional for their own good, we’re the ones in the same boat, we’re the ones living in these communities together. There is so much nuance to everything, but they have us fighting each other, killing each other. And losing our freedom and privacy. So you can make it actually work and see what getting hit is like. This is real shit. If you have a coach who has you coming in 2-3 times a week to hit mitts and a bag and babble he’s not a good option hints why homie was jelly. Sam did VERY well. It’s the difference between a 90s boxing mentality of let’s get in their and break this guy vs today’s modern day HIIT bullshit lets run around and play touch butt for a couple rounds. Good job. I’ve trained boxing for years and one thing sam taught you was being in a real fight and sparring. Sparring is SUPER important. You can work on footwork and pad work all day but that shit doesn’t translate in a real fight. Sparring does.
@ActuallyJozu
@ActuallyJozu 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with your point on the importance of sparring. Footwork and pad work skills definitely can translate to a real fight, but only when combined with sparring and drilling as a part of your training. Pad work will definitely help develop your hand speed, combinations, punching endurance, and reactions, but you need to supplement it with working these things against an opponent. Same with footwork. Sparring too much can also be a bad thing. It's obviously not good for your brain to spar too much, plus you can develop bad habits from just sparring. Drills will help develop good habits and make proper technique become muscle memory, then you apply those skills to sparring and develop your ability to use them against a live opponent. It's kind of a cycle of drilling techniques, applying them in a real scenario, then fixing mistakes and reapplying them to a live scenario. Harley was never going to get fight ready by working with that boxing coach because it didn't seem like he was doing any sparring, mental preparation, or enough strength and conditioning training. Harley learned to throw a good jab with the boxing coach, but learned to apply it to a fight by sparring with Sam and his buddy.

The most important part for training as a noob is to get punched, especially in the face. If you've never taken real punches before and get into the ring with someone ready to knock your head off, you're going to get your head knocked off. I'd rather fight a guy much bigger than I am that can't take a punch, than someone my size who can. I rarely get beat up because I can take punches and keep going, and I'm not easy to knock out. Mind you, I'm no boxer, but I used to get into a lot of fights...I settled down over the years, but am still not scared to get it if the situation calls for it. I used to want to get into boxing, but surviving always took priority and never had the time to commit. I've always stayed in shape enough to do it though. I'm too old now though, and was run over by a car a couple years back and my balance isn't what it used to be. I do miss sparring though...it's weird punching someone in the face and still being friends after.

Very big thing is that pro trainers don't spar anymore with hitting in the head and there is obvious reasons for that but it's better Harley get's the experience now before the fight and not in the ring and get confused by it and possibly create a hole in his defense while he is taking in the feeling. Getting hurt cannot take your focus away or you just get more hurt in a fight. Other thing is if you aren't used to it, you might start to backpedal and become unconfident because you are scared to get hit again. It just is in this scenario good experience to backyard spar a bit with a guy his size, like not a total streetfighting but at very least as boxing as it will be in the ring with other creators. In the ring it won't be perfect boxing stances and this and that when it comes down to it with many of their who participated time to learn boxing.

If anyone familiar with coach Barry Robinson's materials, they would know that what Sam coached Harley isnt just conditioning, the training included a lot of package: conditioning, punch harder/faster, footwork, control, elite sparring concepts, etc. George Foreman is one of the most technical heavyweight boxer of all time, and he uses his size as an advantage. Sam understood this, that's why he told Harley to film study guys his size i.e. heavyweight. Jesse is a professional coach that probably has a lot of clients that come to his gym, each in it for different reasons, with different body types, and different personalities. So what Jesse teaches is an all-around style that focuses on fundamentals to give people a taste of boxing. That works well in a gym environment because it means his curriculum doesn't really have to change unless he is putting extra time and resources into a handful of fighters, which I doubt he was doing for Harley. I think what Sam did was help Harley develop a style that fits him as a person so that he can really lean into his strengths and understand his weaknesses as a freight train of a human.

About Jessy review of Sam 1) Jessy says "right now he's showing how to step on a right hand against a lefty" But both Sam and Harley are in orthodox stances 13:17 , this criticism really confuses me, Sam is clearing showing the concept of taking your head offline and going to the body 2) Jessy "right now he is training him to put his head over his knee" Context missing on what Sam was showing, but i bet it was something to do with the clinch, in the clinch head positioning is very important, you want to hide your head from the other guys free hand most boxers do that by digging in their heads on the opponents opposite shoulder/chest, they also lean forward to lay their weight on the opponent. nothing wrong with doing that. 3) Jessy "now he is teaching him how to catch a by turning into it that's opens up the right hand" Again, a little bit of context is missing but parrying/catching a jab like that doesn't open you to a right hand if you pump your jab at the same time you parry it (Tyson Fury does that all the time) or if you keep your guard up when you catch it (old George Foreman) *tl;dr : Jessy is a good coach, a bunch of context on the criticism is missing, Jessy did good on sharpening the jab and straight on Harley but you can only learn rough housing in a Rhode island parking lot*

Sam teaching Harley why it feels like to get hit, and to get over the fear of actually hitting someone else is worth more than weeks worth of pad work with a “pro”. This has absolutely been the best content I have seen in years. From the Idubbz doc all the way through Harley being Banished Sam's champion at Creator Clash. It's just insanely wholesome, inspiring, and hopeful. I just hope Harley finds someone to fight that is worth his time because, frankly, Egoraptor never stood a chance.

Jessy responded like every boxing coach when they see their guy working with someone else… “ahhh that’s all bullshit”. He saw their training at face value. Each element he picked out as “wrong” were situational things Sam was showing him. It really showed his insecurity.

Sam actually pushed Harley into fight or flight mode. The most important part of that was getting him out of his comfort zone. It’s like buying a super car and only going into first gear.

That boxing coach just teaches basics to everyone. He is a basic coach. He doesn't really care if Harley wins or loses. Sam attached his reputation to Harley, and so he put way more effort into analyzing Harley and the fight.

Funny how Harley said he thought he got the real Sam, and yet Idubbz said he couldnt find the real Sam, even though he did a full documentary
@justjazz784
@justjazz784 2 жыл бұрын
its entirely because idubz never let his guard down despite accusing Sam of doing the same. Had he of rolled with the punches, figuratively and literally, he would have gotten the real Sam instead of the caricature that he thought he was. It doesnt help that Sam & his crew were intent on gaslighting idubz the entire time, but like, what do you expect? It's Sam Hyde lmao hes gonna get away with it on his turf

@@donutmerchant8393 Yeah, I just think his documentaries have a theme of rehabilitation for fringe people. He definitely went to Sam with that intention, not necessarily trying to punk him. But considering Sam wanted nothing to do with that angel, and had no reason to be rehabbed anyway, Ian should have really retooled his approach and just had fun with Sam. Sam would have given him the personal moments that Ian wanted if he did that. Its just lame that he threw his hands up and tried to paint Sam just being a crazy, hard to deal with person.
