Having ridden in buses like that a lot as a kid, I can tell you they shake and flex a lot. I'll be curious to see how all that tile, grout and cement stand up to the shaking, bending and flexing.

I've seen some of the professional conversions, but I like this layout most. This was a pretty awesome build, especially for a novice. My personal spin: 6"-1' extra width, a 2 in 1 toilet/vanity combo on one side, and a shower/ wall shower rack organizer on the other.

Big concerns: the light switch and outlet do not seem safe, the remaining window has no shade over it so I'd be a tad concerned but some tint or something could fix that, and there isn't a waterproof door which may make the rest of the bus humid.

I think the comments are for other people who are going to do the same thing, on there bus build. Read the comments and find out different ways to build something. There is more then one way to build something. All ways have there pros and cons. Pointing out the good and the bad in the comments, will help other people down the road.

He did not black out the windows, so the sun light should kill most things. That could be a lot to ask of the sun. If he blacked out the window, the black mold would not be seen.

He really should have watched more videos on the vinyl membrane installation. The floor is supposed to be leveled first then, the membrane. The membrane is there to catch and drain moisture. The way he did it, the moisture will sit in low spots but, never drain. That moisture sits and turns to mold. Hopefully, he doesn't have problems.

Not going to crush your dream because it’s a really nice one! Keep at it! But please do your research and MAKE SURE you watch *multiple* different sources. The guy in this video has made a lot of mistakes I wouldn’t want you to replicate in your own future build. Always get info from multiple sources to compare, and if something doesnt add up it’s probably because it was done wrong. Good luck!

Nice one! On your next tile job, you should really focus on keeping everything neat. I never have caked- on thinset on my hands. I never have to scrape mud out of a grout line either. You'll be way happier when you roll up for the day.

You are so talented and patient Mike! I think I would have skipped the indoor shower and go for the outdoor possibility. Vanity and toilet indoors makes sense but I think the whole tiling of the bathroom for the shower is not really necessary.

The craftsman ship is definitely sub par. I felt that you should've addressed those windows before you boarded them up. At least make them look like picture frames and put something interesting in them or at black them out and seal them properly. Now they're going to constantly have condensation and it's gonna drip to your studs and rot them over time.

Any thoughts on the outlet and light switch being so close to the showerhead? I think it is far enough away that it won't get water directly running down it but I would be a little worried about the amount of moisture in such a small space and splash from showering.

Light switch is not ideal, but covering the LED junction boxes with tile is insane. bumpy road=loose connection = flickering light= unfix-able.

if you want to get into building your own bus, make sure to check out some other sources... this dude is doing one hell of a hack job. if you want to do it right and want your bus to hold up long time, best not follow his advice

Nope, not anywhere in North America is that cool. Perhaps a 3rd world country...maybe... Next weeks episode, he's going to install a gas burning furnace, on a wooden base, with rubber hoses, after sealing all the windows, and throwing the CO detector out the door.

Dude I hope you sealed that gap around the gang plate and you should have used GFI outlets; especially in the bathroom and kitchen even with your power unit! But loving the build so far; giving me a lot of ideas as I am planning one of these builds myself!

agreed! let’s say someone showers and after, you have to pee/shit. you step in and the entire toilet is wet and also you’re stepping all over the wet floor. your feet/shoes/socks will get wet. such a weird layout.

It's gonna give him some tingles... haha I LOVE that he thinks the GFCI will actually protect him.... the bus, on its tires, is not grounded. Unless he spikes a 4 foot rod into the ground and cables it to the bus chassis.... zero protection.

I S He said he was taking it on a trip somewhere. Where he’s parked now seems like just a temporary place for building. He probably wants it for road trips but doesn’t want to invest in an RV.

That shower is going to fail the very first time it sees water 🤦🏻♂️ no preslope and the drain is sitting inches above the liner. Cement board alone isn’t waterproof either 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Good job on the grout. Me and my dad grouted 2 showers and it was very therapeutic we used black grout which left quite a nice dark gloss on white tiles after to polish process

It’s pretty common in RV and tiny homes! You kinda just stand in front of the toilet and shower. Also common in wet rooms in Japan and Europe.

@@JessJeans But not like in the video. He should have placed the shower head on the ceiling in the middle of the room. Finally there is the drain. He has a lot of good ideas, but his execution is sometimes miserable.
