Ofcourse we do have biography of RasoolAllah (s). Checkout the works like hayat al quloob for instance, bihar al anwaar vol. 15- vol. 22 is solely based upon the biography of RasoolAllah (s). Like we legit got thousands of pages.

Indeed. However, works by Allama Majlisi came in the Safavid period (much later than the works of Ahlas Sunnah). Also, it is not in chronological order and especially in the case of Bihar, more focused on Ahadith. That's why Sayed said that we have things from Ahlulbayt but they are like a larger puzzle where we have to fit in the pieces 🙂

@@Thaqlain Apologies but I'd beg to differ because allama majilisi didn't "narrate" hadith by someone or make it himself. Rather he took them from the older sources which were compiled by the classical scholars like shaykh sadooq, mufeed and so on. If you were to checkout the chains in bihar, you'll notice how it says, "and in the book al kafi on the authority of so and so...." or "and from the book amali of mufeed, from so and so...." or "and from ikmal ad deen by al sadooq, on the authority of so and so....." Or "from the book al manaqib of ibn shuhur..." There are way many hadith which come directly from the books written by the classical scholars like shaykh sadooq, mufeed, tusi, al qummi, and so on. If you explore bihar volume 50-53 which is based upon Imam Mahdi (a) and his occultation, you'll notice that most of the hadith allama majlisi took are from kitab al ghaybah by shaykh tusi and kamal ad deen by shaykh sadooq. And during his time the nawasibs used to burn the shia literature out of enmity so allama majlisi collated references from 400 hadith books to preserve them and that's how bihar al anwaar was compiled. And i think we should stop relying upon this worthless propaganda "half of bihar is weak". It was no joke. It took him 36 whole years to compile that book and before making claims people should themselves read at the very first place what the author himself said regarding that book instead of relying upon what people say. He clearly mentioned that he scrutinized the hadith before compiling them, Majlisi compiled it to gather all the ahadith he could access. His primary goal was to preserve the available knowledge for future generations. Majlisi has acknowledged this issue in the preface of Bihar al-Anwar, emphasizing that the traditions collected were not included without being subjected to scrutiny, a task in itself that was a major undertaking. Majlisi says, *"Then I chose to examine the traditions of the infallible, righteous Imams, started exploring them and investigated them as was their right and I acquired its skill as was its due."* Also, i don't say that each and every single narration existing in bihar is sahih but saying directly half of it is weak is on a whole new level. Okay, it could be 2% weak 5% weak but saying half of it is weak that too without even knowing the amount of hadith it contains is severe injustice to the efforts he put it. There are over 100,000 hadith in it. I apologise if my words were offensive in anyway my intention is just to spread awareness and speak up for the efforts allama majlisi put to compile bihar al anwaar. P.s, if someone intends to explore bihar al anwaar visit the website hubeali. They've translated like 58 (out of 110) volumes in english till date.

Once again, you are entirely correct. There is no issue of credibility in the works of Allama Majlisi (may Allah be pleased with him). It's just that on prima facie, it will be called an extensive work of hadith instead of extensive work of Seerah. That void of extracting Seerah from hadith and compiling it in a comprehensive book is something Sayed Murtaza Amili did in the last decade. But indeed, he too couldn't have done it had it not been the work of Allama Majlisi and hadith scholars preceding him.

In an era where people persecuted the Holy Prophet's(saws) family, you expect people to write a lovely biography....lol Shias have always been on the defensive, and have to cut through the nonsense to see the daylight from the night. Its a journey of skill, puzzles to be put together over thought and time.

Shia sources take from Sunni books. Also in Shias’m the important people are the 12 imams. Rasulallah ‎ﷺ is just a symbolic figure for them. Sayed Modarassi(who this channel loves) has said that Ali(Ra) and Rasulallah ‎ﷺ are equal. That tells you everything on how the Shia view our beloved Mustafa ‎ﷺ

The Sheikh literally criticised oral traditions as unreliable in an earlier video. These videos are useful, but with due respect to the Shiekh, there are clear logical inconsistencies already. If as a layman can notice, I do wonder how these lectures would stand up to scholarly scrutiny.

Why is the Christians’ messiah our Dajjal? And our Messiah their “antichrist” and our prophet Isa their “false prophet” in the final coming? It’s because they distorted the information without the masses knowing over a long period of time. There’s unfortunately much ambiguity and contradiction in the Sunni description of imam Mehdi as. It’s very ambiguous he will become Mehdi over night? How so? Through revelation? Manifestation? What would make him go from impure to pure? He would need to be “pure” in order to bring true unity and justice, he will also need to have real knowledge of the religions of the past and most importantly the truth to the history of our religion and truth to the knowledge our holy prophet left behind, for unity and peace. How does a normal human today get all of this overnight, through revelation? Granted knowledge of the unseen (past and future)…too much ambiguity. Even in Sunni narrations where it states he will be the 12th caliph (successor) to the prophet? There are contradictions in the understanding of the Mehdi in Sunni Islam since very early in its history.

@@Thaqlain did holy prophet SAW call on Ali in his life? I don't think so . He was asking for help from Allah SWT not imam Ali . Imam Ali is a human being like everybody else. We r not allowed to call upon other human beings even if they r the highest .if we want to avoid being like kafar whom they are calling upon Jesus. We have think twice and use our own brains not to follow blindly. Always ask your self. Is this what our prophet SAW was doing. It doesn't make sense . For him to call on Ali not Allah SWT . Since when has been calling someone equal to considering them as diety? Allah has called parents Rabb, so do we consider parents as diety even though we spend our entire lives calling upon them? The religion of Allah is much more logical and can be only understood when we take it from the Quran and Ahlulbayt, together :)

To be honest this guy is pathetic on this issue, that's my opinion. He's says the longest sermon SAW gave was at Ghadir which is coincidentally one of the biggest days in Shia Islam, Prophet SAW gave in my opinion probably hundreds of sermons over 23 years and that was the longest, just a quick question, how long were the other sermons? He also says Shias were not able to write about the Prophet SAW in detail because they were persecuted, what a load of tosh. What about the 11 Imams who were allowed to write in great detail about everything else, which is supposedly the Sunnah of SAW. Take all that away. Until today I have not seen a decent Seerah of RasoolAllah SAW by a Shia scholar. But even today and back then they were and are allowed to write about all the imams and everything else? Shia know nothing about Prophet Muhammad SAW because they concentrate on the 12 imams who are not infallible, that doesn't mean they made mistakes, I'm not here to try find bad points, all I'm saying is no human is infallible. Even Prophet Muhammad SAW was the best of people even before they were given prophethood, and the highest of Messengers, give me one hadith where SAW claimed infallibility? They guy who wrote Nahj ul Balagah, what stopped him writing about SAW in great detail?
@Thaqlain
@Thaqlain Жыл бұрын
Salaam Alaykum. Thanks for dropping by. Let's examine your concerns one by one. 1) Ghadir is not an important day just for Shia Muslims. It is an important day for Islam. It is the day Allah completed his religion. Other sermons are readily available on the internet. 2) It seems you are unaware of the lives of the Imam and the persecution that faced. They were kept under house arrest or in prisons. Only Imam Baqir and Imam Sadiq received a few years of freedom when Ummayads and the Abbasids were fighting for throne. 3) There are a lot of biographies of the Prophet now with us from Hayat al-Qulub to the 30 volume by Syed Murtaza Amali. 4) Infallibility of the Prophet is proven from the Quran :) 5) Your mentioning Nahjul Balagha shows that you fail to understand the difference between Hadith and Sirah. Duas.

@@Thaqlain Wsalaam. First of all I would like to say thank you for responding to my comment promptly, I really appreciate that. And by the way i have read many biographies of the Imams and I respect them very highly in terms of there knowledge and the people they were, as do many Sunnis. Again the reasons you've gave I agree with, I terms of them being persecuted etc, but how does that make someone infallible? In terms of Ghadir- firstly there are many disputes with regards to the final verse or verses of the Qur'an. Let's just say that is the final verse which you claim. In what way does that prove infallibility? Which surah/ayah in the Qur'an proves Prophet (saw) infallibility? And I get your point about Nahjul Balagah not being a Seerah but the point i was making if someone can write and collect that much about Imam Ali(as) what stopped him or anyone else writing about Prophet Muhammad SAW? And you said NB is hadith, again I find this strange because NB are letters and sermons by Hzt Ali to various people in various situations, I don't read anywhere where it says I heard or saw prophet(saw) say or do , I thought hadith are sayings of prophet Muhammad SAW? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Jzk.
@Thaqlain
@Thaqlain Жыл бұрын
Salaam Alaykum. Short responses to your concerns: 1) Ghadir or persecution is definitely not proves of their infallibility. To study the proves of infallibility and why infallibility is necessary in the case of divine leaders please visit the following link (we will urge to read the entire book): www.al-islam.org/inquiries-about-shia-islam-sayyid-moustafa-al-qazwini/infallibility 2) There are a lot of sermons in NB that are focused on the Prophet balaghah.net/old/nahj-htm/eng/id/imam-ali/9103/010.htm 3) In the School of Ahlulbayt, the words of Imams are also called hadith. Because we believe that the Imams are a continuation of the Prophetic mission and are divinely appointed. Their task is to interpret the Quran and the Sunnah according to the time they are living in. Hence with this belief every word of the Imam is the word of the Prophet :)

@@Thaqlain This whole argument of yours makes absolute no logical sense and I'm sure you know that, so why do you and other scholars continue to preach that which you know is not true? Firstly the person who wrote this (your link provided regarding infallibility) calls himself sayyid, and even in his text he doesn't even have the respect to at least add SAW after our Prophet Muhammad SAWs name. The link regarding infallibility actually proves the contrary to your arguments and shows you have no basic understanding of the Qur'an and choose to add the words in brackets to try prove your point. "By Your might, I will surely mislead all of them, except Your chosen servants among them (the messengers and the imams).”2 You believe servants is messengers and the Imams? This is my understanding of the word servant: we're all servants of Allah SWT and satans missions is to make us all go astray, that's simple and logical thinking otherwise we're all going astray and based on your interpretations Surah Al Fatiah only applies to a selected few, Surah Al Fatiah is what our whole imaan is based on. I'm not going to go further into his points about other things he mentions about various Prophets AS, as you lack basic knowledge in obvious points. I asked you previously where in the Qur'an it states Prophet Muhammad SAWs infallibility? And you never answered. It was a simple answer: they SAW and other Prophets were messengers of Allah SWT, so there is no way they can say or do anything wrong even if there isn't an unambiguous quote to confirm that, the Qur'an is sufficient enough for me to prove that our Prophet Muhammad SAW was infallible. “It is He who has sent down to you the Book. In it are verses which are entirely clear. They are the foundations of the book. And (there are) others that are not entirely clear (i.e. allegorical)....... Your whole faith is based on imaamat and yet you can't provide a simple ayah from the Qur'an to prove that. Also if the imams are the only ones who can interpret the Qur'an and Sunnah according to the time they are living in. Who has been interpreting for the past 1200 years or so since your 12th imam went into occulation? Have you not considered that's why over the past 1200 years, what you say and believe makes no logical sense?

@@sirfarazyounis4326 Should you not also consider that it would have been dangerous for Shia to author a hagiography of Muhammad (one that would certainly be contested and lead to more political and religious strife). When you say that Shia scholars had all the time on their hands to write about their Imams, well that is because it was, one, more tolerated by Sunni powers ("oh fine... let that Shia praise people that have nothing to do with us.."). Writing about Muhammad's life is undoubtedly more contentious and likely to lead to outbursts on the part of Sunnis, just by the very nature of the subject matter.
