In CM most hotels are having vacant rooms, you don't need use apps to book, just use the app to see from photos what the place might be like. It doesn't matter if you book online cos you need pay cash anyway. So just go to a hotel, ask for room and pay cash. Probably they don't want pay commission.

Some rooms are only Internet price and can only be booked online. You are correct, most of the time you pay cash at the hotel. I've never had any problems booking hotels in Thailand online. In the past I have gone direct to the hotel website, sometimes they have special deals.

Good evening Tony, there were a lot of poeple who went up to Chang Rai and Chang Mai to help out with the floods and there were a number of collections to help the poeple up there, to get back on track. Those tiny white temples are called spirt houses, and the spirits of dead monks live in them. I've never had that much hassle with hotels, you were just unlucky I guess. You need to use Google translate. It is easy to use and saves you hassle when you want to ask a question in Thai.

Yeah, I know all the volunteers went up there to help and I was going to do it myself when I saw the destruction. In a future video, you'll see that I went to the Myanmar border and I saw a town that reminded me of the Bronx in the 80's, total carnage everywhere. Just down the road from here, there's the main temple where everyone goes on a Friday. Inside there, there's a long row of stone boxes which have all the monks faces on them, I find it beautiful that they do that for their own. I do use Google Translate mate but I'd like to be able to have a conversation with Thai people one day (no matter how bad I speak).
