UK here. I've just had my first 5 year medical check-up (NHS) and my LDL is 190. When discussing blood test results I told them what I'd learnt from this channel on blood work and they agreed what I'd learnt was true. I've noticed a viewpoint shift away from the old narrative and towards fat being essential and carbs being a problem. When I told them I don't touch fruit or veg I expected a negative reaction, they actualy said my high-fat diet is healthy.

Giving lots of sweets and sodas to the kids is ensuring you live in the hell of your own making: kids get hyper, teeth rot and your dentist bills go up, etc. Not to say kids can't have a birthday cake or sweets around Christmas, but to knowingly just feed kids tons of sugar is not very smart. :)

I found this out at about age 40. I call that day my real birthday. Autism, ADD, and a few things that nobody could put their finger on without saying nasty words. They all resolved. Within two years. Now I'll require a few more years to clean up the mess that I have created. So at 50, I should be able to have an actual life. Few more years. Fixing my teeth, fixing my bone-structure and muscle mass / body composition. Holding a job for longer than a year. Getting rid of all the stupid junk that I called "living a little".

I would add a caution not to generalise on autism spectrum origins. What used to be called Asperger's runs in my family on the maternal side. When growing up, my mum (clearly now I understand she was undiagnosed Aspergers) was adamant that her children would not eat artificial stuff, so anything with chemicals was out, as were margarines and "plastic bread". She made her own bread from stone ground wholemeal, and meals were always prepared from scratch. We always had plenty of meat. While we also ate plenty of potatoes, it was a pretty good whole-foods diet. But my 2 brothers are Aspergers, and one of my sons is. My son started keto in adolescence (we didn't realise he was Aspi until then), and he then decided to go carnivore. It has certainly got rid of his acne and headaches, but has had no apparent effect on his Autism spectrum. My wife worked for a number of years in an association (here in France) that takes care of those in the spectrum that can't take care of themselves. The mums of 3 of them were convinced that their children's autism started with digestive problems, and one of them insisted it (digestive problems, then autism) happened after her child was vaccinated. Yes I know, just anecdotal 🙂

@gins8781

This is an emotionally charged subject. Some parents of autistic children are struggling just to keep their heads above water and desperately avail themselves of whatever help “the system” offers. But the system does little to promote health, and in fact, penalizes parents who think and act outside the box if it triggers difficult (withdrawal) behaviors. It has been heartbreaking to see family members deal with this, and worse, to have one of the children die as a result of pica; likely both a behavioral and nutritional/metabolic pathology. Several years ago I suggested a ketogenic diet to family. They gave what sounded like excuses at the time. But the reality of living with non-verbal teenagers with autism is so far beyond the norm that I could barely comprehend its complications at the time. My heart goes out to all who have loved ones with this condition. If GLP1 can help, surely it is worth trying to save and hopefully improve lives.

6:47 Demonising fat - not just dietary / but also speaking about obesity in the name of 'political correctness' - alongside the most horrific uptick in 'ADHD etc. / Spectrum disorders -- who here over the age of 40 remembers hearing the phrase 'on the spectrum' when they were young? I'll wager none. Now it's practically a badge of honour to have children (often several in the family) on the spectrum. And yet, if we were willing to talk directly, openly to a woman looking to get pregnant, and encouraged her to appreciate the diet she will need to grow another human being with a little to no chance of ending up 'on the spectrum', we'd be accused of disability shaming. Or assigning blame --

For whatever reason I started going back to my sugary, canned alcoholic drinks, eating process hamburgers and whatever crap I could find. Within two months I was in complete pain, and could barely function as a carpenter. I am back full carnivore, zero sugar. It’s been 10 days and the transformation is absolutely incredible. Doc, what do you think of the ethics of doctors and influencers labeling certain diets as "keto" but then say that ketosis is not a goal of their diet? I think it's unethical. I think that all people are different and not everyone enters ketosis on a particular diet. In my opinion saying a diet is "keto" for all people is unethical. When using the word keto I think it's best to focus on ketones and not the carbs. When someone is in ketosis (body makes at least .5mmol/l of ketones) then they are on a keto diet regardless of the food that they eat.
@LauraB.335
@LauraB.335 3 ай бұрын
A keto diet is one that gets you into ketosis. Otherwise, it is not a ketogenic diet - period. People think of keto as a specific list of foods. It is a metabolic state, and unless you’re in it, you are not following a ketogenic diet, no matter how many supposedly “keto” foods you eat.

Eating the proper human diet was a contributing factor to my divorce. I got healthy alone - she made lots of noise that I have an eating disorder. It is a very difficult situation regarding our young child when feeding him a diet of nutrient dense foods (meat and eggs) is considered taboo and the processed shit is considered healthy and balanced. We live in a clown world. Despite Dr. C’s best efforts to educate the public, he often is #fartingagainstthunder.

An act is unethical if it only serves to advance the person performing the act at the expense of someone else. By expense, I mean that the target is used as a means to an end, and not as an end unto him/herself. Call my reasoning Kantian, but I cannot abide purely teleological ethics when it comes to dealing with humans, not even if it means that most humans will benefit and that only a few will have to just lump it. From here, the individual's needs should take primacy. Maybe carb-heavy diets are actually reasonable, even beneficial for some....some....in which case to recommend such a diet would indeed be ethical. If it's patently obvious that a carb-heavy diet is causing harm, then I think it would be unethical of me to prescribe, or to simply suggest, such a diet.
