Had a very painful attack June 2023. Doctors did a CT scan and determined that it was my gallbladder. They treated it and relieved the pain. Said I could go home and be fine. I elected to have it out. Thought I needed oxbile, but turned out its not needed. My daughter said thats what I get for being on carnivore diet. 🙄It was a blessing in disguise. They found a tumor on my kidney. I had a partial nephrectomy in November 2023. Was cancererous. Went back on the carnivore diet, my recent ct showed I was clear.😊

Hi, a 71 year old Aussie here. I made history at our local hospital when my gallbladder was removed at 13. For months, my GP had to visit our home around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night just as Bonanza was coming on TV. I'd be in excruciating pain...throwing myself over the kitchen table in order to catch my breath. Given my age, a diagnosis was delayed...I wasn't "fair, fat and forty". Wednesday was our sports day at secondary school...the exercise caused gravel to move and block the duct. I recall my specimen jar containing two or three large stones with gravel. Surgery back then involved a very long opening and around 26 or 27 stitches. There were no instructions for after-care, aka nutrition. At around 33 years of age I was put on statins for cholesterol. Actually, initially it was an unpleasant white chalky drink...statin pills came later. I had over 30 years of no butter, cheese, red meat, eggs or full cream milk, along with statins. Around 2020 I commenced 18/6 fasting without realising...I was busy at the time and kept delaying breakfast. I reintroduced eggs, ghee, cheese and red meat into my diet and a yearly cholesterol check resulted in a reading of 4.7...I think it is measured differently here in Australia. Even so, I was informed I would be on statins forever. I've since thrown them out! After constipation and gas became a problem I started a bile salt and magnesium. My only other supplement is vitamin D/K2 and my BP is on average 119/75. You don't realise you had brain fog for approx 37 years until you no longer have it. Since becoming an advocate for my own health I've felt fantastic however, I'm extremely grateful for the informative, genuine KZbin doctors. Apologies for the full-length novel 🇦🇺 🐨

I had gallstone pancreatitis and was basically hospitalized for 2 months for it at age 41. Then I went keto and lost 100 lbs in a little less than a year. After the pancreatitis calmed down, 8 months later I had the gallbladder taken out. Took the very experienced surgeon and her team 4 hours (was still done laparoscopically) instead of the typical 90 minutes as it was in pieces and my body had isolated it by building fat all around it. Now at 43 im close to being the best shape of my life or certainly in decades. Been stuck on a weight loss plateau for like 6 months, probably going to cycle in some carnivore and longer fasts to break through.

I was diagnosed with gall stones about 4 years ago. They said they were flat and filled 10% of my gall bladder. I declined surgery at the time, as I didn’t think I was having any symptoms, as I wasn’t having any pain. Thank you so much for this information. I will be listening to it again.

If you do not have a gall bladder, let not your heart be troubled. This subject has been one of the most discussed issues I have seen thousands of times in carnivore groups for years. I've been doing carnivore going on my 7th year now. My gall bladder was removed about 15 or so years ago. Eating fat for me is a balancing game but I think I have it down pretty good now. You have to carefully titrate your fat intake if you don't want to have diarrhea on a consistent basis. I buy grass fed beef in the 90/10 fat/lean ratio (I know some of you die hard carnivores are rolling your eyes right now). I can't eat all of the fat off of my ribeye and trim some of it off (eye rolls again). I eat mostly scrambled eggs (about 6-9 per day) blending them with a hand blender to combine the protein with the fat. If I eat eggs over easy, it can send me over the edge and have diarrhea because of the bolus of fat from the yolk. A typical breakfast for me after a fasted workout is a ribeye (12oz), 3 eggs and 4 slices of bacon. I do pat the rendered fat off of the bacon. Don't get me wrong, I love the taste of the fat but I have to be very careful. If I'm getting greasy stools, I cut back a little. If I'm constipated, I try to add more fat and like I said, its a balancing game and not easy to play. You'll find your n=1 ratio you just have to be patient. Key word is "adaptation" and yours may take weeks, may take months or may take years but you'll get there. Good luck and God bless.

This Dr Cywes video is so informative and straightforward. I had my gallbladder removed 02/24 and thankful it was done. For those going through all the gallbladder drama, this type of detail definitely helps people to more fully understand so they can make the right decisions moving forward. I've heard or read gallbladder issues can be caused from low fat, high carb diets. Is this true?

Very good explanation, I did have an episode about a year or so after going low carb, I had tons of the small black stones, with some regular ones. I have hyperbilirubinemia Gilbert's syndrome. I was shocked how much came out, four days of hell. Who knew! I had had a few months earlier an ultrasound with the comment 'normal for age' which says absolutely nothing LOL, and so it came to be, my body got rid of them, I thought I was close to dying. I never had any symptoms of gallstones whatsoever at any point in my life other than that clearing episode. Absolutely disgusting what came out.

Selfishly because I’ve had my gb removed I could hear you talk about the procedure and especially after care info - how digestion is affected etc. my attacks I used to get would last between 4 - 8 hours!!! And they were the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I’d get them about twice a week once the symptoms started. While I was having an episode the only thought was:, “death” but you don’t the pain just goes on. I’ve heard it can sometimes be mistaken for a heart attack 🤷‍♀️so at the worst imagine a heart attack that doesn’t stop!!!!It can be awful for some. I had it removed in 2012 and touch wood I’ve been lucky not to have any issues. Enjoyed hearing your break down of the subject, thank you very much❤

If the stones are very small or sludge they can do an ERCP. Which can basically flush them out. This is done endoscopically but they have to be small enough to pass through the bile duct.
@nonsolorasatura9093
@nonsolorasatura9093 5 күн бұрын
@@enidcronin9704Why don't exist a way,under surgical operation, to melt them? Or under endoscope maybe make a larger cut and flush out everything, while put later the filtered fluid back? Or eventually fragment them as happen with ESWL or PCNL or RIRS as used for other stones?

When I first started keto I went hard, knew it all. About a month in I decided to give mct oil a crack. I had a teaspoon on an empty stomach. Within 5 minutes I was overwelmed with a sudden life ending searing pain, I couldn't even breath to tell my hubby to call an ambulance. THANK THE LORD. within 60 seconds it passed. And I was completely fine. I had experienced a bile flush. As excruciating as it was, this was the best thing that happened to me. One month into my keto journey I opened my sluggish gall bladder that previously would not let me eat fat. So many things to learn!!!

Side note. Since then I have also had my allergies checked and I am highly reactive to all things coconut. So my bile flush might have been exacerbated by an allergic reaction. But anyway it was a good thing inthe end.

My missus had pain on right side of lower ribcage, doctor gave her amitriptaline, wtf, I thought it was gallstones, what I did was squeezed half a pint of fresh lemon juice & mixed it with half a pint of olive oil & had her sip the mixture through a straw over an hour or so, she was on the bog like bonkers, she's never had the problem since, she obviously passed the lot. She is now on a ketogenic diet as myself, never had a problem since. I noticed you mentioned lithotrypsy , well my father had kidney stones and they performed it, after that he suffered with crumbling discs in his spine, funny that,not. Try to do things naturally and eat simple food , cut the sugar&carbohydrates.

You stated that people who are metabolically healthy do not end up with gallstones no matter how high their cholesterol is. Can you maybe explain why, and the mechanisms of gallstone creation that support that explanation? Edit: you also explain that the gallbladder isn't working once gallstones have formed, but since this only happens AFTER gallstones have formed, how can we prevent them from forming in the first place?

I have had diarrhoea on and off since but I've now gone carnivore dropped the dairy and the diarrhoea has settled down with only the occasional episode. The thing that amused my doctor is that after going Keto and losing 140lbs the scar is now no longer anywhere near my Liver and I get asked what surgery did I have. When I say a cholecystectomy they say THERE! I'd rather have loose skin than the 140lbs.

Thank you for doing this video. It’s difficult to find videos that explain the Gallbladder….and the way the body works after a gallbladder is removed. I never had one symptom until I had the acute attack. 15 yrs ago my gallbladder was removed immediately, during an emergency surgery. The doctor said it weighted 3x what a normal gallbladder should and was unrecognizable. Because I’ve had hyperparathyroid with high blood calcium for over 20 yrs., I assume the gallstones were bound to form. For the past 4 yrs I’ve been keto/carnivore and have zero issues, just like before the surgery. I’m so thankful from what I’ve learned you and other doctors on this platform. My question is……Where does my bile go now that my gallbladder is gone? Do I need bile salts? Could not having a gallbladder and no bile in my stomach be the cause of constant bad breath? 🫢🤐👅
