Francis John: Strengths: Can dissect a 4000 cycle old ONI map with ease; can melt entire unmeltable rockets and create massive bases; can defeat a 600 scyther/centipede haywire raid with a pawn armed with a shortbow and a stick and a chihuahua. Weaknesses: OMG THAT NAME HAS EXTRA LETTERS!!!! NNNNOOOOOOO!!!

That 4k cycle base made me miss my old looooong bases. I thinkbmy best work was 6.5k cycles of a bade that required almost no dupe interaction. Every asteroid automated to the fullest each dupe only have a habitat and a tube to their one and only job. It was a thing of beauty with its main purpose to replace the entirety of the ocean planet with super coolant. Didn't manage to do it but got about half way.

@spoon1710
@spoon1710 Жыл бұрын
@FrancisJohnYT so many projects that I have left unfinished in ONI either due to the game not being able to handle them or just get tired of them. My biggest one probably is a map where I had 28 oil wells and wanted to see if I could make a sour gas boiler to process it all. I spent over a month trying to come up with a design that would fit on the map but the spaced out came out.
@themysticgeologist
@themysticgeologist Жыл бұрын
The "The" was added when I had to create a new account, so either one works. As a note, in the 10 or so cycles I let this variant run, the room was increasing in pressure and the pipes were filling up. Although from what you were saying about using manual airlocks for the infinite liquid storage, and shrinking down one of the transformers (there is plenty of excess capacity on other transformers), it should be possible to add the intended normal gas pump. My design was very much inspired by the Baby Mini Base, which I enjoy having on in the background regularly.

Here is something I found out today: If you launch a duplicant towards the temporal tear and they expire along the way due to entirely unpredictable circumstances, such as not having loaded sufficient food, so long as the autopilot manages to position the ship on top of the tear, you can still move the ghost ship through it, piloted evidently by the late dupe's spirit. This then launches the cheerful little animation with all of your colony prancing in joy, which somehow doesn't stop them from mourning their compatriot's demise. Incidentally, how did they get wind of the cursed pilot's fate?

@andocromn8755
@andocromn8755 Жыл бұрын
@@DasPanoptikum it should be fully sustainable tho I have not stressed tested it for thousands of cycles. The only potential problem it has is the running petroleum boiler only runs at 8kg/s and the generators can consume more than that. However I had no idea how much was in infinite storage until FJ popped it. I have kinda just kept playing, more ideas to try since this was really my first playthrough. Since I sent it I actually fixed the geothermal petroleum boiler in such a way that it should run 10kg/s for many thousands of cycles and solidify the entire magma biome in the process. O and built solar, just cause.

19:30 there is a airborne critter trap in the C miner setup. There's also another one in the wild moo room that is activated by a critter sensor in the tame moo ranch 21:12 I got this geothermal boiler working again! I will defeat the magma biome! 21:40 I had that much CO2 per tile throughout the whole oil biome at one point. It was just the atmosphere when I built it LMAO works fine so I left it. (Well) it processes 8kg/s just fine, the geothermal can do 10kg/s like a champ 23:52 they auto wrangle in order to repopulate the breading ranches. A critter sensor in each ranch opens a door which allows duplicates into the overcrowded room. Then one molten slickester is wrangled and brought to the underpopulated ranch. Unfortunately the wrangling continues until lunch is called. The Dreckos work the same way. 25:30 you didn't even get to the end of the conveyor line lol seeds are collected from the food freezer and brought to feed the fish 30:00 I had absolutely no idea how much petroleum was in there.... that was hilarious and I don't blame you at all Just wanted to say thank you again. I had a lot of fun watching you explore and destroy my base. I'm glad I could distract you for nearly an entire episode. When I sent it, I never thought I would be seeing it on your channel so soon. It's actually to repopulate the breading ranches. critter sensors open a door which allows duplicates in, then one is wrangled and brought to the underpopulated ranch. I don't know why, but I really like the simplicity of temp controlling that petroleum boiler with just a temp sensor, an aquatuner, and solid metal tiles. Like, I always go for a door control tied to a temp sensor for precise control, but this is soo much simpler and elegant. I really like it.

For the liquid stuff: in oni everything seems to like to go in a clockwise form where to checks the top - right - down - left for spaces to occupy/destroy. So in that order, left is the least of its concerns since every tile will check it last so it'll move a lot slower in that direction.

'figuring out other people's designs is a very interestesting challenge' I guarantee you the creator of that map will look at it a month after they finish with it and will barely be able to figure it out if they're anything like me, it all makes sense when you're designing it and then looking back at it you have to figure out why you even did it like that... I've often fixed something hundreds of cycles later to look easier to understand, only to find that weird branch existed for a good reason

I really should get around to showing off my 200 dupe challenge base... Going off memory, it was almost all pre-dlc release so no meteor defense, spices etc. What I did have though was an auto-refilling abyssalite melter (no conveyor meters made that annoying), auto "scheduled" (restricted fuel) rockets for most relevant planets, and nearly everything made for no atmo suits. I had a the custom speed mod configured for slower than 1x so dupes could actually get a turn to think

Decor: Gorjeous gives +12, barracks is +2 and Great Hall is +6. Hypothetically decor bombing might be more space efficient than what these do, no beds nor mess tables just statues with full Break time in all duplicants so they are forced to remain in Recreation rooms. Innovation is relative. Pressurized Polluted Water outputs 1.8 kg of pressure without co2 influence being the highest effiency space, excluding bubble suffocation like the dupe challange of yours used in the prisons. I could imagine both of these could get like 40 dupes in there if you ignore the Suffocation warnings, no atmo suits and Mesh tiles everywhere to allow disregarding Toilets +2 aswell. Happy torturing!

"How do you fit all that CO2 in one tile?" - Just drop solid CO2 there before you build the thermal aquatuner. I'm not a big fan of the infinite liquid/gas storage, so I would freeze all the gasses and store them via conveyor rail into sealed rooms. I would use those rooms of super high pressure gasses as the heat sinks for a base. It's trickier, but possible to do the same with liquids.
