Hey are you thinking of making #shorts again soon?
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
@@Chikicus It has been on my list forever but i was just not getting to it. Any shorts you would want to see first? I haven't finished the - did you know (exploit) - series and i could make some shorts out of update videos. Or do you mean completely new setups and builds in short form?
@Chikicus Жыл бұрын
I would really like to see new builds such as simple greenhouses for sleet wheat (temperature control, something simple like your previous shorts video on bristle berry farm), How to make a small solar panel farm protected from meteor showers, a guide on how to link telescopes to close bunker doors on incoming meteor showers, and a guide to harvest regolith with repeating robominers, then potentially feed them through a steam turbine room before feeding them into a base? I could really use this for sustainable ore, and my options are limited as I only have the base game.
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
@@Chikicus Those are some good ideas. My only concern for videos with most creations is almost all of them need cooling, or controlled cooling. So i need to show and integrate that everytime. Which makes the simple build complex again. But you gave me an idea. I make 1 video about precise temperature cooling and then link to that in the comments for the people that WILL ask how to do that. So i can just skip that step in the video and be like: add external cooling in the range of 20-30 °C :D

Clean solution for the incubator timing. Beats having to stare at a timer sensor to get the green signals to cascade
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
You will probably have to adjust the timings based on the dupes schedule and how far away the rancher dupe lives from the setup.
@tristen9736 Жыл бұрын
There is another relatively simple way to do that. Essentially, you use a timer into a memory toggle for the first incubator activation, then use a weight sensor to detect a dupe standing there to activate the next incubator and deactivate the current one when they step off the plate. It chains the dupe immediately going from one to another to get rid of them having to run back and forth to the incubators when one activates
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
@@tristen9736 Does this also work when 2 dupes try to hug the incubator? I would like to try your setup sounds nice. I have my problems with the memory toggle though. Everytime i need to recheck how it works.
@tristen9736 Жыл бұрын
@@Luma_plays I'm guessing you mean when the second incubator is activated, another dupe comes by and starts that? It doesn't really happen since the activation is delayed a bit by a filter gate (necessary to stop a dupe just running by from activating one of them), but I don't think it would be an issue anyway. If a different dupe came by and started the next, it would just continue the chain along from there. It may waste a bit of power since it will be on longer, but there's not much you can do about that

Hi luma, could u one day make a video about how to make a living module for other planetoids?
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
Sure, what should it include? Most of the time you make an early game base: oxygen, food, water, toilets, recreation, sleep. The question is what is the goal a one for all setup? Since every planet is different, you need to bring every material and liquid beforehand to make the Setup viable everywhere. Which also means we cannot make it self sufficient since not every planet has water or geysers. Should it be inside of a Rocket or on the planet. etc. should it be self sufficient or not. The cleared the intention of the living module the more precise that setup can be developed.

Looks very neat as usual. I really like the "island" design to prevent voles from moving around too much. Personally I think I'd prefer to put shove voles inside the delecta vole room. Regular shove voles can lay 2 eggs in their lifetime if they are groomed and prevented from starving, so this would allow to very slowly increase the shove vole population. I understand that this specific design is made with the idea to prevent delecta voles from dying without laying an egg, but imho, it's good enough to let delecta voles die and to replace them with new voles. Plus, if you can produce a large enough population, you don't need the incubator room, you can just let the eggs hatch naturally, which would make the whole setup much simpler. If you don't want too many voles, you can just use a critter counter to deactivate the breeder room. Or at least, that would be my personal approach to this problem, there is nothing wrong with the way you do it. Seeing how different people approach problems differently is one of the best things about this game.
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
That is a very cool idea. I might have tested something similar in the left chamber but have discarded the idea after testing for 400 cycles because alot of voles starved without eating while 1 vole ate all the time. But i haven't considered putting them in the delectavole room. There they might split up better. Thank you for the detailed explanation and suggestion :) I might make even more versions.

at some point i want to ranch the delecavoles. if the delectavoles have the ability to be glum, is it possible to get the scales to grow at normal rate while they have -80% consumption?

I actually don't know. I think i remember they are very demanding regarding both scale growth and laying eggs.

Is there any update on new season on your let's play ?
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
Hey wargod what do you mean with season? :) I intend to finish the let's play but honestly the viewing interest of most people is gone since it has been so long that i posted. I am more interested in making a new let's play. Or more of these: i spend 500 cycles on planet # videos But normally i end my let's plays with finishing my intended goal in this one is was colonizing every planetoid plus using bugs and exploits. I haven't achieved that goal yet.

@@Luma_plays Module builds. like placing builds by block, connecting them with strategically placed pipes or automation. you could build a base or a part of a base for farming/living/life support. Just like real life architecture or engineering. hehe. :D

@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
I do that in let's plays. :) I appreciate the suggestion and thats why i give you my explanation below why i don't do that: In these musical vidoes if i tried that i would loose over 80%viewers in the first 30 seconds. The ladders also obstruct the important parts i had that in older videos. Those actually have been things i tried out in the past that just did not work as well in the pure short style builds. I could try and show a rough ladder placement and then remove it again but in a normal game you often need to improvise depending on where you build.
@adfssdfgs5100 Жыл бұрын
@@Luma_plays i tried to replicate this in a creative save. it was hard. ifailed. so complex building. Also how do you solve the problem of extinction and rebirth into an unnecessary subspecies?
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
Hey @@adfssdfgs5100I put more Information in the description. The base line is explained in the second half of the video. I try to explain it short here as well: The shove voles replace themselves when groomed. 1 shove vole lays 1 egg and dies. You will get the meat. If a shove vole lays a delectavole egg the egg goes to the buffer room. it tskes 20 cycles to hatch with no incubation. then 4 to 5 cycles to grow up. from that time on it should be fed 1kg of dirt in another 4 to 5 cycles. and then every 9 cycles 1kg of dirt. this gives the delectavole (a tamed one) enough life time to lay 1 egg. this egg is then either a shove vole egg going back to the original system or a delectavole egg which will stay in the buffer room hopefully laying a shove vole egg next. Both rooms need grooming. for wild voles it is easier. for that you only need a 1 tile room. done. I know this is a very complex build. it doesn't have to be if you don't care about the delectavole egg loss. but it bugged me so i made it this complex to fix that.

i would check how much space i have and build it like any other hydra. if you want the cooling i would use metal instead of insulation for the hydra and use non freezing liquids. If you son not want the extra cooling power i would use insulation. Hello luma, after 2 years i'm back on the game, and there have been multiple changes. Does this automated setup for the shove vole still works ? My brand new game with full achievements avec been focused on meat production to supply the dupes Hunger with the shove, but, i don't know if that was already the case before, i forgot, but now it's sture that every critter require a lot of space to not be abble to lay an egg, and it's kinda limited to 8 critter / room. Is this setup exploiting some space bug, or your video is oudated ? I want to automated the farm :) Also, is there a way to automatize the killing of the shove ? Because it would be insane, instead of checking every x days every vole or instead of waiting 3+10 day of starvation death.
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
Shove voles have always been special since they don't get crowded or confined. (They live IN the earth i guess that is the in game lore) The new critter update changed alot but i think shove voles are the exception. I haven't found a reliable easy way to tell the dupes to get rid of the shove voles that have already reproduced. Only complicated timer based methods or large killing areas that are way to complicated to actuallly use. So if you find something let me know.
@Melerickk Жыл бұрын
@@Luma_plays Since yesterday i've been thinking and found a trick that i tried this morning :) I found a fully automated compact working setup (4 large x 7 up). The only counterpart is that the room works for a single Shove vole, but it's compact enough to have some room to duplicate it. So the more meat needed the more room too. If you want the blueprint i cna show youon discord or else :)
