haha there's always something to shock you....it's now the norm you've got to laugh at. Zarih do you remember the 2 massive trees in feb when we got the Cherry picker that had to be fallen on the driveway. that was scary as those are 'widow makers' and we had the internet line that would be severed too. other massive trees that fell in back garden on our garden tour episode, it truly becomes the norm hehe. it helps to be calm.

I love the lighted Christmas "baubles", too! In my hometown, one of the neighborhoods decorates for a local food charity with lit chicken wire balls. Thousands of cars ride down the streets before Christmas and make a donation at the end of the tour. Every home participates, there are hundreds of lighted balls, all homemade and strung throughout the 100+ year old trees of the neighborhood. It's just magical! I'm linking a how-to of how to make the "baubles" because Angelina needs a project, and Philly needs one, too! I've made them for my Mom and Daddy's house and they are just so easy! Though hoisting them up in the trees is can be a trial (hint: use a string tied to a bottle of water and toss up and over a limb. Tie the string to the ball and hoist it up -- connected to an extension cord, of course). I think very large lit balls on the lawn during your events could be so smart as well! I promise the link is just a KZbin how-to video and not something nasty! Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas and cheers from North Carolina! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpfSh2VvaZJ9h9k

Possible solution to the clogged outflow. Florida's solution is a storm water skimmer or retention pond skimmer. It's basically a stainless steel box without a top or bottom that goes around the outflow to stop floating debris getting into the drain. Might be a simple fix.

honestly i would not have a mote because of the damp in the house not flooding as such and because of the wear to the stone , never even thought of flooding , would have a lake though and edible fish
@ChateauLife4 жыл бұрын
You don’t get damp in the property because of the moat nor do you get any wear to the foundation stones which are huge solid granite unaffected by being in water; they knew how to build things properly. The only issues which caused the increased water height are from modern works and bad repairs to the outflow system changing something that was perfectly designed to begin with as explained in the video

I think you need to get a water pump to keep for times like this. Drop it into a bucket that has mesh over to stop leaves getting in. Maybe a pool scoop to drag through the moat. 💖⛄️❄️🇦🇺
@ChateauLife4 жыл бұрын
hehe if only things we're that simple...the solution we're working on is as follows. the amount of self seeded trees here drop tonnes of leaves each year & they are now so unhealthy that the branches fall down which adds a disaster waiting to happen segment. so our solution is to lower down the trees & remove any that shouldn't be by the bank so stop the blockage potential. longterm dredge the moat & add aeration for the eco-system. we are fed by river & currently there are flood warnings in area. call it experience for the longterm we're gaining with these disasters hehe. staying cool calm & collected is the key. we'd also install a rod down the drain so we can move it easily back & forth in future as it won't be over the year that we'd manage to get the trees under control. love your suggestions though, get's the brain working which is great!

Phil, why don't you make a long-range plan to build a small shed near the clean-out sites and house inside the shed a large REEL with a good-size diameter plumbing snake on the reel? Maybe two different caliber "snakes" on two different reels, which one used dependent on how severe is the clog. You could install snakes of sufficient lengths so it is possible to just roll them out to whichever side you need to run it down to unclog your outflows.
@ChateauLife4 жыл бұрын
Sadly we don't have land space to do this where the outflows are. They are located on the side of a main car road so we only have 2 m space which the bushes take for privacy. Our plan is similar to put a drain rod down the pipe hole so next time this happens you just have to wiggle it back and forth already in place without any problems. The long-term solution is of course remove any self seeded trees and lower the remainder down so there are less leaves and branches falling into the mould which is the whole cause of the issue
@catherinegiesige98634 жыл бұрын

Merry Christmas from the mountains of Washington State! I really can see some beautiful Swans in your Beautiful moat! I really enjoy the upbeat personalities of you both! It’s very very Beautiful and you both are doing a great job saving all the outdoor garden/park landscaping! The Chateau is stunning as well , and i love that you have made a conscious decision to not compete as B&B and Wedding Venue. The Outdoor Events is perfect! I would prefer to keep my home private as well. In these open book social media data; i believe it crucial to keep and maintain as private a home life as possible. I’m very excited to see your creative projects Angelina !

@@ChateauLife it truly is- snow and more snow, deer 🦌 always in my yard along with turkeys ! My memories of France forever in my 💜 heart. I dated a French man for 7 years, from a little ville L’Hay Les Roses (suburb 30 minutes from Paris) My fondest memories are going to Caen, Normandy- Brittany to Chateau St. Michel , and seeing History of WW2 , where my grandfather fought front lines. Of course Chateau Versailles was lovely too. But preferred the country villages. I miss Brocante shopping! Bon Annee

I’m thinking the time slot is right about when Ed and Anna had a big flood through their Château in Bordeaux, I imagine very scary really for you all. Good vlog guys.

For all things considered, I'm grateful for Angelina that Phil ended up being in France before the recent lockdown in the UK. While I'm sure it's not fun dealing with the flooding, it would have been very lonely for Angelina if Phil wasn't there. Hope you guys enjoyed your Christmas and I enjoyed your little walk into your town.

indeed, thank you! would have been horrendous & a little demotivating but I'd have no choice but to crack on with it. it's a lot more fun doing this together & anything really. I'm glad he made it back to France as currently there are difficulties facing people coming over from UK.

A car I had years ago needed the windshield replaced. When they did it they left a small spot at the top not sealed. Every time it rained there was a stream coming down. My then husband refused to take it back to them and refused to tell me where he had taken it. I kept putting glass glue on, didn't really work.
