Love that there are wildlife refuges but there's a need to have resources available as well...

Put a little engine restorer in the crank case and dash of it in the fuel ..after a few hours you will be amazed on what it does for the engine

Brenton, not far from Hamburg is a little community called Mozier Landing, IL. Every now and then, after a hard days work on the river fixing the buoys and shoreside navigation lights & dayboards, we'd pull the CG cutter there for the evening. As you have shown the viewer, this part of the river is a desolate land, filled with levees, farmland, swamp and rip rap. On one particular evening after we tied up, I got off the cutter to just walk around a little bit. There were a few shore side homes next to each other in the vicinity of Mozier Landing. I honestly can't remember if they were occupied; we never had any visitors stop by to chat. But walking in front of one house/cabin facing the river, I found the weirdest thing I've ever encountered in my time onboard the Scioto: the property was line with rip rap, obviously used to keep the river (when it got that high) from washing out the property. But this was no ordinary granite rip rap......these were grave stones of all sizes and shapes, just lying about. Since getting onto the internet, I've tried to research anything as to why they were there, with no luck. Were they placed there following the Great 1993 Flood, maybe after washing out a nearby cemetery? That would be my only guess. I have no idea, but I was at a loss for words as to what I was looking at!

That is weird. Did the gravestones have names on them?

Yes. Name, date of birth, date of death. I had to have left my camera back at my apartment on that trip or I for sure would have clicked off some photos.@@browngreen933

That is creepy. I would not feel comfortable in that house for sure. Folks along this trip have told me about the 93 flood. Hamburg was an interesting place to walk around. I like forgotten places like that.

Brenton, Im considering a 60hp like yours to power the shantyboat what is the rpm range you choose to run the majority of the time and what is your avg mpg? Thank you

Great question. We stay 2k-2.5k 90% of the time and do hull speed (5-7 MPH) and burn around a gallon an hour. The 60 leaves all sorts of power to fight current and tides when that time comes.
