It’s quite sad actually when someone passes away and they bring up their past. The worst parts of ones past. People can recover from things, people can become better. Just because someone does things like drinking or whatever, doesn’t mean they are wasted at every moment. You all shouldn’t bring up his past, you should celebrate the legacy he left.

Agreed! And if folks read his autobiography and listened to interviews 1995 until his death and speeches he did for Windstar... JD was in a real "growth mindset" and making great change. Admitting to mistakes and wanting to do better. I applaud the man for that. We'll never know the immense pressures and being pulled in endless directions. Bless his soul and we need to remember all the GOOD he left us and gave to the world! ❤

My favourite Musician, hope to be as good as him one day R.I.P a legend Edit: Personally, John should’ve been included in “We are the world” that’s my opinion, because he did so much activist work. I mean sure, maybe he wasn’t a pop rock artist, but he sure had credit to be there.

The absence of John Denver from the Live Aid/We are the world line-up is damning of all those involved in keeping him out. I was aware of Paul Simon's remarks and he deserves no credit for his dismissiveness. What Paul and the others didn't seem to know or care about was that unlike them John was perhaps the most deserving among all music artists who really should have been there. John had been involved in world hunger projects for several years before Live Aid and he would continue that involvement throughout the rest of his life, while most of the cool people who disdained his involvement in Live Aid had at best only a fleeting and casual interest. Most of those who were involved in Live Aid were there only for the kudos and the publicity boost that they would gain from it, and most would go with their careers never touching on the hunger issue again. Perhaps the real reason that John was treated with such disdain was that he was the real deal and that his presence would have shown up many of the rest as fakes who had little interest in helping feed the hungry instead of benefitting their own careers..
