That‘s what windsurfing is all about. Having fun, blasting around, fighting for positions, tweaking the gear and have some gear & trash talk on the beach. Absolutely superb throughout. One thing I would add, is also consider splitting your quiver say, cammed sails from 7.0+ upwards with no cammed from 6.5 downwards! Not being a consistent gyber myself on especially on smaller gear and winder conditions as Ben mentioned no cams are a real bonus as they are lighter, almost as fast and much easier to water start. In these conditions is about not being first in and out of the gybe but about control throughout and the recovery should it go wrong imo. Finally, for those wanting to race in the UK National slalom series, there is a National Fleet which as two categories Freeride and full on slalom fleet with the later having an age category so you could still be on the podium and its fun, fun fun! Massive thanks to Ben, Alfie and film crew. PS who knows maybe a UK gathering at Martinhal Beach for the Portuguese National Slalom Champs is on... Now that would be one hell of a road trip ;-)

Great series, loved it! Completely agree with the final statement, that there is no need to have full race sails to have fun at an event like this! If you want really to win it though, probably you should think about getting some. Funnily enough you can get the sails of this year's PWA Pozo Winner new for 200 Euro less than a Simmer VMAX

Hi Ben, great series and of course congratulations to your third place. I Like seeing how competitive the 20 years old NP Diablo has been. I have been using 3 cam sails for years and seven years ago I changed to no cam sails (even our daughter got the first name "from" this sails --> Naish Noa). I completely confirm your impression. Freerace with Cam has a lot of power but quite offen the no cams are even faster and of course lighter. But there are surfers prefering a powerful and stable sails, other ones prefer lighter and agil sails. Hang loose Jochen

race sail sessions are the cap stone of my daily exercise. Looks like I should get free race sails for use in the cold water with neoprene mittens. The wave gear works with mittens and is fun but is slower.

well it wasn't too bad just needed to bend the knee more when gybing haha!! ...but to be fair it's much easier with it on the helmet which is how I've done it before!

Good film! A bit too much talking😂. Why doesn't anyone talk about the difference between cam and no cam sail when waterstarting? The recovery time when falling is important.

Remind me never to buy a second hand wetsuit from the UK ... people abroad don't go nude under their wetsuits. Pls buy Alfie a pair of lycra shorts to wear with his wetsuits.
