With all this locks it feels like a groundhog day. I find it amusing for myself. Big thumb up. Great vlog . Cheers from Poland.

Have really enjoyed these videos! Really love how you view the journey and even that the videos get "deeper" as you've gone along and not are reflecting back on the trek more! For those of us that might not ever be able to traverse the entire canal in this way, its great to do it vicariously Whoot @10:33 LockE12 - the James Shanahan Lock at Tribes Hill - just the other side of the river from us at Schoharie Crossing. @12:18 Riverlink Park in Amsterdam - has some great events, music, food, and even a water-ski team! @12:50 The Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook pedestrian bridge is amazing! We maintained and has many fun events from morning yoga and tai chi to birdwalks and holiday events!

Wow how cool thank you! I love hearing peoples unique thoughts and insights to the places we have passed by. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to share our experience transiting the canal. What a wonderful way to transition into seeing the world via boat! We hope you enjoy the videos now that they aren't centered around our transiting the Erie Canal! :)

Question At 33 seconds that boat infront of yours. Is that one going through the locks too? Or just in this area? Thats way higher out of the water compared to my sailboat. If they can fit i can

Would be interesting to hear about the history of this motor. It looks vintage. Is it original to the boat? Also, you seem very smart when it comes to things nautical. What's your backgroud/bio? Whats her background/bio? How are ya'll making money?

Our Bukh engine is original to the boat! The year stamped on it Is 1977. It's a 2 cylinder 20hp diesel and it lives up to its reputation of "the trusty Bukh". Bukh is still making engines for marine rescue vessels and they seem to be leading in that field. They are built in Denmark. I am not sure how or why our Seawind was built with one of these engines. Most had Westerbeke engines originally installed and I only know of a few Seawind owners who have Bukh engines in their boats. It would be so cool to go back and find out why they chose this engine for a few of the hulls! Maybe some random availability of the Bukh and lack of availability of the Westerbeke. I (Parker) have a background in the trades. My family has a small HVAC business back at home so I grew up learning to fix things with my dad. We also restore old buildings and homes from the ground up so everything that entails has added to my abilities. I pulled on all of that knowledge and had lots of help from my dad in the beginning when learning to fix boats. I taught myself to fiberglass and had a couple really great mentors who helped me refine some techniques. All of the systems on a boat came pretty easily to me other than learning the nuances of 12 volt systems and batteries and also the USCG approved methods of wiring and plumbing. Katy has an extensive background. She holds a BS in Intelligence and National Security and an MS in Environmental Studies and has had diverse professional experiences that have taken her around the globe. She is currently the Manager of Global Operations for a group of companies (an advisory firm, law firm, and fiscal sponsor) that exclusively supports nonprofits, philanthropies, and social impact projects. Together, we've learned to sail by crewing on race boats on Lake Erie and cruising aboard Seawind there as well. Out of the 6 years of owning Seawind a majority of our time (and money) has been spent restoring and upgrading the boat. In the last 7 months of cruising full time, we've learned a TON. Largely what you see in the videos is a first for us both. We're learning by doing, and were very passionate about learning!
