Love the info Mark, though I am not in the U.S, it does give me some insight into be an owner operator or leasee here in Canada. I hope you do more videos like this as you seem to give a fair assement of things. Wished that you posted more than once a week.

Hello Mark. Just subscribed, after watching Part 1 . You are a brilliant speaker, and have a gift for explaining things in a way that people like me (who learn by doing, as opposed to listening) can actually follow and absorb the info. So bravo to you, sir. BTW, has anyone told you that you are the mirror image of the late actor Raymond Burr (above the shoulders lol) Thanks again Mark.

Hey Mark Thanks for the videos. Great job! Question: Okay Prime uses 1:20$ for driver protection point. What number is going to be used for independent drivers?

what if the company I'm with isn't using or telling me the price protection point, they are just telling me I get fuel at thier discount plus a fuel surcharge of around .16 cents per mile
@MarkStaite8 жыл бұрын
Find out what the fuel surcharge amount being paid is, then reverse the math based on what Tuesday's Index price shows. Simple algebra. Just flip where the X or Y is in the equation. Lemme guess... You never thought you'd ever need algebra again after high school. Well... a lot of L/O's and O/O's were wrong. Strong math skills are needed in this job.
@KentuckyBackyardMechanics8 жыл бұрын
i did that but they recieve a different discount at every fuel stop so that variable changes, but the 16 cents per mile surcharge is a constant that they are paying me so im assuming i dont have a solid price protection point
@harmonymartinez29548 жыл бұрын
hiow do you find out driver protection point?

Suffice it to say... If you don't know 'how'.. You have not done enough homework and you are not ready to lease a truck. you have to do the hard work and right now that is homework on how to be a lease operator.
@dannyd3609 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend leasing with prime and is prime an overall good company to be with?
@MarkStaite9 жыл бұрын
There are 9,000 ways to make money in trucking. You have to find the one way that works for you. If you do your homework, you'll find the situation that fits what you're looking for.

Hi Mark great videos, I just subscribed. I have a question sorry its unrelated to this one. I just got my CDL license yesterday and looking into getting endorsement training. Does those help to get better jobs? Which ones are the must if they do. Keep in mind I have no experience. Will I use those on the first couple of years at all? Thanks!
@MarkStaite9 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you plan on hauling. Dry box? Reefer? Open deck? At a minimum, get your tanker and hazmat to start with.
@las3479 жыл бұрын
Mark Staite Thanks, yeah I plan to get those with the doubles and triples. Not sure what I get I m fresh out of CDL school...doing my research on companies at the moment..that's how I end up on your channel. By the way very informative channel appreciate you share your experiences.

Mark...awesome videos! I just have two questions. 1. Regardless of how confusing Prime makes the formula, are they abiding by their contract as it is written? 2. Since they are subtracting $1.20 and not $1.25, will this not somewhat offset the difference? Granted it still won't be 100% Sorry if my questions seem elementary but I'm a newbie Keep up the great work!

@zfan-xg9uw6 жыл бұрын
So if you are still getting 72 percent of the 13 cents it is 9 cents in excess fuel surcharge add that to the 20 cents you are getting for the fuel surcharge it comes to 29 cents so it is all good. Unless it is against the law for the to keep any of the charged fuel surcharge.

@brandtgeiger9 жыл бұрын
What about the fuel discount. I don't know the Prime system but they must get discount off the cash price of diesel.
@MarkStaite9 жыл бұрын
Yes, Prime does get a discount, but it has no impact on FSC or how it's calculated.
@brandtgeiger9 жыл бұрын
It just help off set difference a little. If they are getting $0.20 cents off, Then it 2.84- 0.20. so the difference is $2.64 vs Prime $2.44. thats like $0.24 vs $0.20. So their is $0.04 difference. I get cents off per gallon but TA and Petro I pay Cost+ pricing.
@MarkStaite9 жыл бұрын
brandt geiger Strategy will be brought up in video #4. There is a lot drivers can do to maximize fuel profits. Again... Right now it's just about getting folks to understand #1- There's real money in FSC. #2- How to understand FSC #3- How the math differs at Prime.

Mark,, you said to do the home work and watch the next video. I assumed you would have the answers here to the homework. using the $2.811 for april 27 2015 Prime at 1.25 Answer is .0.26 X 1200m = $312.20 FSC using $2.40 X 1.25 =0.19 X 1200 = $229.99 FSC Re-Calc with 1.20 protection point: $322.2 & $240 respectively.. What should have been: $2.811 for that week and 1.20 protection point 1156 miles you should have had : $310.39 instead you received $224.96 FSC and the $43 on your haul total: 267.96. only $42.43 from what should have been But.... With the .33 They pocketed $113.52 from what they actually received. I am frustrated with you.... that is a chunk of change. I need to verify to see what we are getting , Thanks for the instructional video it was great! I do not know our company protection point, I need to find the Tuesday report. But I will look into it. GREAT VIDEO... only missing answers to the Homework...hahaha

Thomas Carroll jr. Why's that Thomas? It's not like Prime is trying to hide the fact that they're not paying 100% of FSC. Granted, they're not trumpeting that fact either. They're actually obfuscating the fact by hiding the info amongs 2 or 3 different pages within the settlements. I'm just educating any and all Prime contractors to the fact that they are not being paid 100% of FSC.
