Sadly, the Brookshire Motel burned down from homeless people shenanigans this past summer....I'm glad you got to see it. I live on 66 in Tulsa. Sorry I missed you guys! Love your channel. My wife and I are gonna retire in 3 years and sail around the world also. Thanks for the great videos!

Hi Amy. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I have really enjoyed putting these Route 66 vlogs together. Every time I sit down to edit I see more and more in the footage which we took along the way, now having the time to look it all over. I then go and have a poke around Google to try and find out what things are called, where they are, and a bit about the history of the various buildings. I find it so interesting. Thank you for following along on the journey. W.

I am really enjoying your videos and the way you stop the video momentary for a quick peek. It's sad to see the various buildings run down and in disrepair. I would love to have seen 66 back when.

Hi. Thanks for the comment about the 'stop' footage. I was trying to find a way to show the buildings, but as there were so many and we couldn't stop at each one (time constraints), I came up with this idea. Glad you liked it. W.

@LifeinaNutshell6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyoto. There were sooo many places to see. I tried to include as many as I could! No, no hush puppies? What are they? W.
@kyotokat85436 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy. Before I went to the USA I’d only heard of a lot of the food from novels/comics. Coming across them in real life was cool. I still haven’t seen grits served out of the States. By the way, according to the net 'A hushpuppy is a small, savory, deep-fried ball made from cornmeal-based batter. Hushpuppies are frequently served as a side dish with seafood and other deep-fried foods.'
@Zeemike16 жыл бұрын
It's not that long ago that if you were to pull into one of those service stations an attendant would not only pump your gas but check your oil and tire pressure for you. Not everything in this modern world is better.
@LifeinaNutshell6 жыл бұрын
I remember the same thing in Australia. One servo lasted about 5 years past the others but eventually succumbed to full self service. W.

Being from Tulsa, it is neat seeing the sites from another persons eyes. Did you get a chance to explore the Art Deco buildings downtown. A lot of old buildings in the US have build dates on them along with the original ownership above the doorway.

Hey you two! You just drove through my ancestral home town, Joplin, MO. My parents were married there in 1945 and started for California the next week. Right along Route 66 towing a trailer. Would really like to treat you to a beer review when you get to Southern California. Got a place that you could park your RV. Have hook-ups, too. Sure is fun watching your adventure through your eyes. Please keep trying out your American accent, Wendy. ; ) Cheers from Larry

Hi Ian. Thank you. We are missing our Nutshell. We'll be back in Mexico soon enough and back on the oceans again. Iam enjoying your trip across America a whole lot, Kind of strange because I wasn't all that into the motorcycle trips across Australia even though it is something I would want to do. Anyway, I would like to make two requests on your trip if I can. 1 As you have been shooting motels anyway could you please get a shot f the Silver Queen in Kingman Arizona, I stayed there years ago, also if you can get a shot of the Steam train Engine in Kingman that wul dmak me happy. I would like to know if you plan to stop at the Grand Canyon? I know it is not along your route but if you can make it I highly recommend that you do it, it is like the exact opposite of Uluru, or Ayers Rock, the colors are even opposite.
@LifeinaNutshell6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ted. So pleased that you are enjoying our trip across America. We have now finished the trip but I will look through our footage and if I have the Silver Queen I will include it for you. Same, same for the steam train. We did two side trips and one was the Grand Canyon. Wow! It was the most awe inspiring sight I have ever seen. The colours were stunning, endless shades off into the distance. It was most definitely worth the extra k's. Thanks for the comment. W.
