Rob, what a beautiful video as usual. I too love the Art Deco design of anything. Those gas prices are out of sight compared to where I live in TX where we are paying $3.39 for self serve regular gas which is the only grade a lot of stations are selling for some reason.
@gaspumprob Жыл бұрын
Thanks Rodney, Yes we pay the highest in the nation for gasoline here. Our Governor wants our our fossil fuel vehicles to go away. I am ok with protecting our environment but there are alternatives over electric. Hydrogen is one alternative but rarely gets attention. We currently do not have the infrastructure to support electric vehicles in abundance. When our weather gets warm we have power outages as it is because of a weak infrastructure. Thanks for watching and commenting! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing some of the roadside treasures. Rob

@ rodneyfletcher9565-- I see that you are from Texas, the state where Buc-ee's gas stations originated in 1982. Thanks to Buc-ee's opening a huge gas station here in nearby Daytona Beach, Florida, in March of 2021, we are enjoying lower gas prices. This Buc-ee's has 104 gas pumps, and I paid $3.38 per gallon today.

I enjoyed this video very much. Seeing the 1958 Oldsmobile 98 @5:00 was a reminder of the 1958 Oldsmobile Fiesta station wagon that my dad bought in the early 1960's. It was our first car with factory air conditioning, a rare option back in 1958. I liked your interview with George Parker at his old gas station. It was a nice touch to film most of the interview in black and white, like going back in time. I also wish that I could hear that tow truck, "The Happy Hooker" run. I'll bet it was very loud. Sorry to see that you and others in California have to pay such a high price @ $6.39 per gallon for gas. Today I paid $3.38 per gallon at a Buc-ee's gas station here in Daytona Beach, Florida. The station is huge with 104 gas pumps, and the convenience store is over 50,000 square feet. For those of you that have never been to a Buc-ee's, you should see some of their videos on KZbin.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! I’m glad the video brought back childhood memories. This type of video is hopefully bringing back memories of childhood experiences for many. I am glad you liked the black and white switchover. I thought maybe it would help make it look as though we met George back in time. George was very friendly and talkative full of stories until I turned the camera on . When the camera was rolling he became very quiet. Not everyone is camera friendly but I really appreciated him allowing me to share his station. I have watched a couple of videos of that huge gas station business that you visit. What an amazing enterprise and friendly company with exceptional customer service! Thank you for joining me on this video tour. Take care, Rob

Gas station and hotel that you were at I've been there! But it was a little different time we are wasn't quite as growing up. And net greasepit was full of water and scuzzy looking and somebody could just fall right in if they went inside. Looks like they had a fence up around it but that wasn't there when we were there. Last few days I've seen 5 old gas stations dating back to 1940s for the latest and the other ones were in the twenties maybe early thirties. Unfortunately I did not stop but I made a mental note and a couple more already knew where they were at. I got to let some of the crops being harvested so it looks more like a gas station ⛽😳 okay you won't believe this but I'm sitting next to a 1919 Ford flatbed pickup right now

I remember you telling me about that gas station and grease pit!!! Are you talking about the burnt mobile station? I figured you were in New Mexico when you told me that story. It’s amazing in one video we crossed paths three different properties! I am curious where you are tonight with that vintage flatbed sitting next to you? Yes please make a mental note of old stations for me to check out and possibly feature in the future. Have a good night. Thanks for commenting and viewing.

Remember the old TV series called 'Route 66'? Martin Milner and George Harris traveled Rt 66 in a different new Vette each season helping people in differing kinds of trouble. Cool show from what I remember. The office to my first job in the big city was right on old Rt 66 too. Its called Chippewa part way and Watson Road part way through the outlying areas of St Louis. That late 40's Dodge dually at 16:xx reminds me of an old 58 Power Wagon that had the poly-hemi 315 v-8. One ton flatbed dually that was an old brush fire truck for the local fire dept. I still have the chrome POWER WAGON pieces that attached along the hood. Another awesome video my friend !!

Robbie got it wrong! As folks out here in the Midwest we know to complain so we don't spend $6 a gal that you spend. I know what you meant to say is that people in California should learn to complain more about the gas prices and get it fixed. I said mainland of high gas prices and raising ours too. Look at the gas prices in California it's almost $7 a gallon tell me why you complaining about $4 a gallon? My grandmother had a saying for that kind of thinking 🤔. It was quite colorful. But no thanks used to say is that will hold as much water as a bucket bottom that looks like a shower head! Now you have to love dear old grandma! Action video that is excellent 👍 as always.
@gaspumprob Жыл бұрын
Excellent point CAROLDDISCOVER ! All need to complain because what we pay out in California has a trickle down effect on the general economy of the nation. Let’s take a minute and look at a few facts explaining why California has fuel prices that are so much higher . Number one- California is a high tax state and we pay a excise tax on each gallon of gasoline which we are told pays for planning, construction, and maintenance of roads and mass transit systems. Number two - California is a gas island with no major interstate pipelines making it reliant on in state refinery production with high tanker trucking costs. Furthermore the number of gas refineries has dropped from around 50 a decade ago to only ten now. So now when one refinery has issues and temporary shuts down the gas prices in California jump instantly. Three- Refineries in California are forced into producing a summer blend cleaner burning fuel because of high smog areas like Los Angeles etc. During the summer months that adds an additional cost per gallon of gas. Ok one more thing to consider about the future of gas prices in California which again will set a precedent for the rest of the nation. California is planning on banning all new gasoline powered vehicles sales by 2035. When this happens refineries will slow down production and many might be eliminated causing fuel prices to surge even higher. My two cents- California doesn’t have the resources or infrastructure to accommodate a major shift to electric powered vehicles by 2035 . Even now during summer months we are told to turn off our home air conditioners on warm days due to too high of electric demand and blackouts. Think about this for a moment. How will California motorists charge millions of vehicles if we can even run air conditioning appliances during peak demand??? Imo going all electric is not the right plan. Other methods are being overlooked like hydrogen powered vehicles…. Thank you CarOld for your comment and compliment on the video- Gas ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️Rob
