Originally aired: Fall 1999
This episode of The Electric Playground starts off in San Jose, California, as Zoe Flower infiltrates Infogrames HQ to talk with producer Matt Powers and game designer Jeff Gregg about the giant robot game, Slave Zero.
Then we head to E3 in Los Angeles where Victor Lucas interviews Gil Colgate, the lead programmer and Hardy LeBel, the level designer of Namco’s Pac-Man World.
Afterwards Zoe is at Activision in Los Angeles, California, to speak with Marty Stratton, the producer of Quake II for the Nintendo 64.
And Then, also at Activision, Tommy Tallarico interviews Jamie Bafus, associate producer of A Bug’s Life for the Nintendo 64.
Following that, it’s time for our epic journey to Eidos in San Francisco, California, to find out about Braveheart. Tommy chats with Eric Adams, the associate producer on the game and then proceeds to slaughter almost the entire staff of the company. Good times.
Next up Tommy’s at Heat HQ in San Francisco to chat with Matt Calloway and find out about Heat CIGL.
Back in Vancouver, BC, Zoe has a conversation with author, Marc Saltzman who has written a book called, “Game Design: Secrets of the Sages”
After the break, Howard Scott Warshaw talks to EP’s Roger Earl about the creation of ET for the Atari 2600, from our interview with him at the Classic Gaming Expo 1999 in Las Vegas.
In Reviews on the Run it’s:
Kingpin for the PC
Pac-Man World for the PlayStation
Expendable for the Dreamcast
Knockout Kings for the Nintendo 64

Lol, used to be my weekend tradition to watch EP at lunch when I was 15. Now I watch it every weekend while my daughter's at gymnastics. Full circle(ish).

I remember having that Pac-Man game, it was actually a pretty decent platformer! Also had Kingpin, but I'm pretty sure I never got past the second level or so. What I remember about it is having generally good graphics, but really weird wobbly characters, anddd of course all the cussing! Oh and if you put the disc in a music CD player, it would play some Cypress Hill songs!

I beat Pac Man World recently on an emulator and it's a pretty underrated platformer.
