You gotta wonder how much Callisto cannibalized the sales of Dead Space remake, launching earlier and proudly proclaiming to be even more hardcore. Most people in the market for a survival horror game probably couldn't afford both, and with Resident Evil 4 right around the corner that probably hurt things even more for Dead Space.

Callisto Protocol does actually still take place in the PUBG universe. They tried to hide it by removing a lot stuff and rewriting the story late in development, but a LOT of connections still exist in the lore, with straight up name drops of key concepts if I remember correctly.

If there's one compliment anyone can give this game it's that in hindsight, its combat was contrasted to the Silent Hill 2 remake and helped people understand why it worked a lot better there. It showed that the idea could have worked.

Graphically speaking, THE CALLISTO PROTOCOL was amazing, but everything else was just so undercooked, and the reliance on melee combat was annoying. Oh, and did anyone else get to see the random rat-silhouette glitch late on in the game? There are no rats in the game itself, so it made no sense for there to be a rat silhouette and for it to just shoot diagonally across the screen on a delayed loop.

Glen doesn't seem like a bad guy from what I can tell. The long hours quote wasn't wrong, it just hit a lot of people in a sore spot. Involuntary crunch is terrible for games and employees, but if you look at your favorite games made by some of the greatest studios of all time, chances are they were working pretty long hours, and they were doing it because the game was their baby.

Mad Dash Racing is one of those games that growing up you aren't sure if it was real or a fever dream. The moment I saw that cover and heard the name, though, I remember playing it a lot at a childhood friend's house. It was a surprisingly addicitng game at the time, but almost no details stick with you because I don't think there were many to begin with.

I got all the achievements for this game a couple weeks ago and I have to say the story is good. I do like the combat cause it focuses more on melee rather than shooting. It is a bit buggy when it comes to contagion mode where it would dashboard me at times. The dlc was also buggy where I couldn’t use my completed save to get dlc achievements and had to play without. I could play a sequel, just make sure it’s not buggy.

Honestly for me what made me dislike Callisto Protocol was a lack of world building. They treated all the audio logs and such as hard to find collectibles, and the game's story, cutscenes, and conversations didn't do much to immerse yourself in the world. I would have been able to tolerate the super clunky as hell melee combat a lot more if there was interesting story/world to investigate. In the end it felt like "Dead Space: Wish Edition".
