Beautiful work! I hope to start working on mine this summer. Were you tempted at all by the sliding rigger? I'm a heavy rower (250+) so I'm a little worried about porpoising in the boat.

Sorry for the slow reply. I was not tempted by the sliding rigger concept, but primarily due to the cost. I am assuming you are talking about this rig: www.rowingrigs.com/product-page/sliding-rigger-row-wing I think it makes sense conceptually, my boat does hobbyhorse a little as I row it. But it doesn't seem significant, and I have had such good luck with the Angus system that it didn't seem to make sense to try something new. I don't know what that weighs. The original in this boat weighed 25 pounds, and I am pretty sure the system I am using is around 5 pounds. The weight advantage more than offsets the disadvantage of the weight moving forward and aft (at least in my little pea brain!) AI seems to think the Alden rig weighs 18 pounds. Like everything else with these boats, there is a balance of cost and performance that will work for you.

How's the paint on the skin-on-frame holding up? Have been considering doing the same but wasn't sure how well it would adhere.

I used the Petit EZPoxy. It has held up really well. I have put more than 60 miles on it, probably 7 or 8 trips so far. I am very careful with it, the skin on frame makes me a little nervous so I never beach it, I just step out in shallow water and carry the boat ashore. So far there are no signs of any peeling or loss of gloss, no scratches, and it still looks really good. Below the waterline the builder had put a coat of clear polyurethane varnish, and that part is holding up well too. I am quite pleased with the passing job. I did use some Penetrol on the application, I think it helped get a smoother finish.
